Mila has been moved to recovery for the week due to one of the nurses taking maternity leave. Most nurses hated floating around the facility. The dark haired girl was the exception she felt floating around the building gave her an edge up on the rest of the nurses. She was well versed in how many of the sections in the hospital were ran. Mila was passing through the inpatient rooms corridor on her way to her temporary home when she spotted a figure slinking around. This caused Mila to automatically become alert to the male’s presence. “Excuse me.” She called out, Her footsteps picking up almost to a power walk. “Can I help you? Or do I need to call security?”

milapackham:
“it is possible sadly. That’s why RNs only work about three days a week. We work three extra long shifts then have the remaining four days of the week off. I only make it through with an abundance of coffee.” Mila said with a swift chuckle. At this point in her career the long shifts were nothing. “Africa? That’s exciting. What did you do over there?” She asked curiously, her full attention now being turned over to Nate. “color me impressed, a neurosurgeon?” She nodded. “i’m usually in the ER although I do float around the hospital from time to time to fill voids.”
“That.. cannot be good for your body and mind.” Nathaniel raises a single eyebrow as he takes yet another sip of his coffee, his eyes were dry and heavy and he could blame that on the previous night at Charlotte’s. “I signed up for a huge project as a volunteer to help in a village in desperate need of doctors, it was a great experience for the last six months!” Her sudden interest has his own expression gaining a bit more of life, a smile to begin with. “That’s right, I moved here six years ago, I can say I’ve fried my fair share of brain cells.” He scoffs. “So we may work together someday! Although I feel like I’ve seen you before, what’s your last name again?”
“It definitely is trying at times but I don’t mind. Not like I have much of a personal life anyways.” Mila joked, unsure why she shared that bit of info. The nurse finished off her salad, washing it down with a drink of water as she listened. “Wow, that’s commendable. Props to you.” She finally said as she said her tumbler cup down. She laughed at his words. Finding it funny that the neurosurgeon was talking about frying brain cells. “Well I look forward to it. “ she smiled softly in his direction. “I guess I just have one of those faces. It’s Packham.”
eliasmorgan:
“A shame, really” he said a smile on his face at the way her cheeks reddened. It was pretty adorable, and it confirmed his suspicions about her. He wasn’t going to push though, especially since he was sort of right about her, she seemed new to a night life and Elias knew that could be scary for some people. “It’s been known to be a good time” he agreed before nodding “that’s what always gets them” he laughed, and stood up placing money on the counter for the bartender and looking at her “I’ll drive, if you’d like.”
“I’m sure it is..for you at least.” she shrugged, a rare smirk appearing on the girl’s lips. Mila was hardly the person the partake in flirtatious banter. Here she was trying her hardest to channel her sister in an attempt to seem less sheltered than she actually was. “well then I look forward to checking it out with you.” she nodded along. “free drinks is enough initiative in this city alone.” she laughed with him before finishing off her drink. “that sounds like a good enough plan.” She replied once she sat the glass down, grabbing her bag and coat. Any other time Mila would have her reservations about riding off in a car with a strange man but she was a smart girl who was well prepared for any situation.
eliasmorgan:
lias watched her as she considered his words, and then a slow smile spread over his lips “I’m not suggesting anything nefarious love, unless of course, you’re into that.” He could tell she was new to the night life, or at least she seemed to be, but never judge a book by its cover, right? And he wasn’t exactly out to corrupt anyone but he did have a sort of hedonistic outlook on life and he did quite enjoy dragging others along to the more exciting side of things with him. “I own a club, good music, better drinks, not drab in the slightest, come check it out. Drinks on me.”
Mila’s cheeks reddened by his comment. “uh, no. I’m okay on the nefarious but thanks for the options.” she quickly forced out, an awkward smile appearing on her lips. Mila was trying her hardest to channel the free spirit trait her sister’s seemed to both possess a part of. To let her hair down so to speak.”you own a club? Sounds....fun. You had me at ‘drinks on me.’ “ she joked.

Nathaniel’s eyes open wide for what he’s just heard, he knew nurses had longer shifts than specialized doctors, but it seemed inhumane to keep someone in there for so long. “Is that.. possible? How can you deal with it..” He sure pulled an all-nighter way too many times when he was a student, so he knew how hard it could be. “Oh, no, I just came back from Africa but I’ve been working in this hospital for the last six years.. I’m also a neurosurgeon, you’ll rarely see me in this part of the hospital, I am usually in the opposite ward.. you?”
“i’m usually in the ER although I do float around the hospital from time to time to fill voids.”
eliasmorgan:
Elias was only at the sorry excuse for a bar because he was meeting someone, and once that meeting was over he was planning on heading out, back to Lux, to get into whatever trouble was waiting there for him tonight, probably. But he did need to finish his drink first. Couldn’t let a glass of whiskey, no matter how cheap, go to waste. He really was minding his own business, especially because there wasn’t much happening in this place anyway, until someone spoke to him and he quirked an eyebrow, turning towards the voice and, because he was who he was, giving her a once over before grinning. “it certainly is.” he made a face of disgust “if you’re looking for a good time, though, I may have a suggestion.”
Mila wasn’t expecting anyone to answer. She expected the people around her to stay engulfed in their meaningless conversations, she’d finish her drink, call it a failed attempt, and head home before midnight. Instead she received the exact opposite. The man who spoke was handsome no doubt. He seemed to be the exact definition of a dark and mysterious man. She opened her mouth to protest leaving with him but quickly clammed up. How upset would Charlotte be if she Mila let her nice new dress go to waste? “what did you have in mind?” She questioned, brow quirking as she sipped lethargically from her glass.

“Sure it keeps me busy but I was on hold with the public health department for nearly ninety minutes earlier and their awful hold music is going to haunt me for the rest of my life” his lips kicked up into a smile to mirror hers. He didn’t want to make it seem like he felt like he was too good for menial tasks. He knew some of the things he was told to do would be duties of the nurses otherwise and he wasn’t stupid, he knew without the nursing staff the whole hospital would fall apart. Plus, the brunette was cute and he definitely didn’t want to rile her. “It’s my good looks, no one ever forgets this face” he teased as a flash of recognition washed over her pretty features. “Likewise Mila” he nodded with a smile. “Have you worked here long? Maybe you can tell me where all the fun happens when it’s dead like this. Because it seriously can’t be this boring, it’s never like this on Grey’s Anatomy” he laughed.
“I could only imagine why. You’d think they’d pick the most horrendous music on purpose just to mess with us.” Mila jokes, her cheeks redding slightly as he smiled in her direction. Mila lapsed into silence as the floors ticked by slowly, only looking back to him as he spoke. “Oh yes, that has to be it.” she teased back. “I’m going on two years here. The nurse’s stations are where all the fun is at.” she nodded. “Can’t have the doctors or the head of nursing finding out but we usually play little games to pass the time when we have downtime and nothing to do. Come by sometime, you’ll see.”
nate-bowen:
Mila. Her name forces him to have a good look at her features once again, he could swear he had met her before, but where? He shakes the odd feeling off, he probably met her during an emergency or in his fast-paced walks through the halls when a staff member would ask him for directions considering he had been working there for the past six years. “Nice to meet you too! In for a long shift?” God knew he had an extremely busy schedule for the day, but he tries to drown the thought by taking a sip of his hot black coffee.
“mhm.” Mila nodded as she chewed and swallowed her bite of salad. “first break out of my sixteen hour shift. So i’m a fourth of the way there.” Mila finally added, her smile returning as she spoke. “Same for you? Long shift ahead?” She questioned, looking the man over. “Did you just transfer? I don’t believe i’ve seen you around before.”
Mila was at a weird time in her life. She was established but felt like she was letting time fleet by. Like she had let most of her twenties fly by and not lived life. Granted she was only twenty four and still had plenty of time to live her anxiety was telling her differently. The brunette had the next day off from work and instead of staying at home, doing whatever mundane thing she could find she put on her dress her sister got her for Christmas and decided to hit the town. Something Mila never did. Finding herself at a bar a couple blocks from her house Mila sipped the vodka cran in her hands as she stuck to the corner, regressing into her wallflower ways as she thought to herself why she even decided to come out tonight. “This place is a drag, no?” She questioned to the person next to her as the figure approached.

“Wait… Wait girls slow down… Trauma intern? Who.. Why haven’t I met him.. I mean.. I avoid trauma like the plague but still.. Give me details.. She looked at Mila and pouted “I would have totally gone down to that witches lair if I’d known about cute intern boy.. And Oh interesting.. Why a Maid?” she smirked at Rosette and laughed “I need to know all the details for that too..” she paused taking a sip of her drink and shaking her head “Me? Oh no.. Nothing..”
@milapackham
“Yeah, Brody? He seems pretty cool. We only spoke for a brief moment. He’s kinda cute.” Mila smiled. It was weird of her to be talking about boys, it was a field she was extremely inexperienced in. “I was sent over there the other week, it wasn’t that bad.” Mila shrugged. Her attention immediately fell to Rosette who mentioned a maid’s out. “yeah, why a maid’s outfit? Luckily they didn’t make that Christian guy wear the same thing.” She joked, sipping her drink. “I find that hard to believe, Lana...What’s up with you?” She questioned, her eyebrow now raised.

Christian was, admittedly, not paying too much attention as the auction continued. Cards were flying up around the room and his director was shouting things out with as much fervor. There wasn’t much for Christian to do except stand there and hopefully not look as out-of-place as he felt. Finally, though, his director called out that the auction was closed and someone had won. Christian followed his director’s gaze to the woman who had ‘won’ him, feeling a bit of relief run through his system. Though he didn’t know her well, Christian recognized her from the hospital. At least it wasn’t some weirdo that won. Christian smiled and then stepped off the stage, making his way over to the third row of seats where she was. “Hello. Ah, I’m Christian,” he thought to introduce though they’d already said his name.
Mila’s sister’s voice echoed in her ear as she heard her saying the step out of he comfort zone. Do something crazy. This was crazy right? To bid on one of the hospital’s pharmacists? Mila wanted to run out of the room, never look back. Change jobs, move out of the city, whatever it took to avoid how awkward she felt. She saw him step off the stage, her heart hammering in her chest as his steps brought him closer and closer to him. “Hi.” She said in a mousey tone. “Mila.” She added with a head nod. “So...this is weird, no?” the dark haired girl asked, following it up with an awkward laugh.
nate-bowen:
“Well then we are two of a kind.” He shrugs his shoulders off although she’s not seeing that. “Thanks..” Nathaniel says quietly for her quick action so he could have some space for himself. “If I stay at the hospital it will be more likely to have my mind filled with something to do rather than staying home overthinking things.. I’m Nathaniel, by the way.”
“I’d say so.” Mila smiled as she organized her things. “You’re welcome.” She smiled, setting her belonging down on the opposite side of her. Mila nodded, understanding where he was coming from. Most of the time Mila picked up shifts to avoid going home and being alone with her thoughts. “Sounds like the right thing to do if you ask me.” she shrugged, her fork transferring a small bite of caesar salad to her mouth.”Nice to meet you, Nathaniel. I’m Mila.” she smiled once more. Anyone who knew Mila knew she was a sort of teacher’s pet. She made it her mission to meet all the doctors and surgeons in the hospital.
nate-bowen:
“Sounds like a good plan, better than mine right now.” His smiles grows slightly bigger for the idea. “None, I will probably be covering a shift here at the hospital..” Nate turns his back only for a second to grab his filtered coffee, fixing his white coat before he can take a seat at the staff table.
“Depends on who you ask I guess.” She shrugged, fork she had in hand poking at the salad before her. “That sounds like a good plan. I might do that as well. Don’t have plans, might as well make some money.” She smiled, her free hand reaching out to grab her belongs spewed out around her to make room for Nate.
