The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like “being held” and “being wanted” CAN and WILL be humiliating if they’re intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like you’re going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.

🎉 Happy Birthday to Sword Play! 🎉

Okay so I totally missed it by a couple weeks, but at any rate, I felt called to acknowledge the anniversary of the day I posted this crazy little story that haunted my dreams for so long!

I cannot believe the journey hitting that "publish" button a year ago would send me on, but I am so grateful of it. My writing has evolved, my appreciation for other authors and creators is SOO much deeper, and my love for this fandom has grown tenfold.

Thank you to everyone who has loved on this story chapter by chapter. Your comments have helped me grow, and mean more to me than you can imagine as a new author. I write for myself, but it is nice to know I'm not just screaming into the void with my own fantasies lol.

To any other aspiring writers at there, unsure if you should hit that publish button, DO IT. We are still hungry for new ideas and stories! Write it unsure, write it in progress. In the ever growing presence of AI, each sentence you write on your own is practice and will help you get better in ways that no prompt in that godforsaken engine can.

(And I swear I am still working on Chapter 15, just much much harder with kiddos at home for the summer 😅 already looking forward to carving out more time when they are in some camps next week!)

Just wrapped up a two week long family road trip filled with fun, sun, and a near death experience 😅 butttttt I just popped back in and saw the Term 2 FC results and need to say THANK YOU!!!!

I am constantly appreciative (and a little astonished) for all the love on Sword Play. It has been so fun to write over the last year and share with you all, seeing it win first place for Best AU and Best InuKag is truly such an honor.

Any nominations that depict relationships with anyone under the age of 15 at the youngest and/or any grooming behavior in the view of the mods will be rejected.

Remember, all other romantic pairings, besides InuKag & Sesshomaru pairings, can be nominated into the Best Romance category. All other pairings will be up for voting again next term. We will continue cycling through desired pairings to give spotlight to as many pairings as possible.
