"[...] or maybe I'm just getting protective in my old age."
I thought: You were born protective.
- Open Season, p. 45
One of the weirdest things that make me soft about Milo probably is his drinking habit. i know this sounds insane but. the fact that when he's under a lot of stress and drinking more than he should, he keeps trying to mask it while probably fully aware he's not fooling anyone (least of all Alex). idk. it's this little swig of juice he adds that gives this weird depth to his drinking.
Just found my new favourite description of Milo: "More sensitive than he lets on and overwhelmingly authentic."
The trouble with allowing myself to reread one (1) Alex Delaware novel every once in a while is that immediately upon finishing it I also want to reread the entire rest of the series.
utilising the gift of imagination to hallucinate moments of tenderness between fictional people
"You think I'm reaching? It was just a look."
[...]
"No, Alex," [Milo] said softly. "I think you're worth listening to. I've always thought so."
- Time Bomb, p. 445
"Detective Sturgis, you're a hostile, ill-mannered man."
- Time Bomb, p. 424
"When you don't grieve, the sorrow just sits there and festers. You stop trusting, learn to hate the world."
- Jonathan Kellerman, Time Bomb
will probably post snippets from the Alex Delaware novels here next time I read one/do a reread.
Until then I'm just holding onto this url, because I've never had a "canon" url before and I love Milo way more than reasonable.
