RoChu Week Day 1: Elite x Bodyguard

A/N: A drabble in the strictest sense - 100 words exactly :)

For months now, Yao has been watching Ivan carefully, just as instructed. Protected him. Earned his trust. And soon – “Will you watch me bathe?” Ivan asks. Yao swallows. Can’t help but picture Ivan’s bare body, so pristine and free of scars, so vulnerable to him. “Only if you think it’s necessary.” He turns around, his whole body aching when their eyes meet. He desperately wishes for all their pretences to collapse, for their lips to meet violently. But they won’t, they can’t, for the plan is already in motion. Yao’s breath shudders as Ivan closes the gap between them anyway.

what was the best rochu fanfic you've ever read?

I actually had a hard time just choosing one! Instead I made a short list of the ones that still haunt me to this day:

1. The Unfinished Portrait by flyingpianist - This one is obviously a RoChu classic, brought me to so many tears at the end!! It’s steeped in history and also an impending tragedy, two things I am a sucker for in stories :’) 

2. Children of tyrants by Lorelina - I’m obsessed with Lorelina’s fics, they’re all so amazing!! So it feels really special to read a RoChu fic by them <3 It’s my favourite depiction of Yao and his internal struggles as a nation. I could only aspire to write something that so expertly weaves history and politics and yearning all together! 

3. Stars Come Together by LyingMonsters - This one blew me away, it’s a scifi RoChu story, which honestly I’m not sure if there are many if at all apart from this one! The build up of tension between Ivan and Yao is also SO GOOD, I loved their dynamic in this one.

4. Communist Love Song by mistspinners - This one is set during the 2012 Olympics. It’s short but so !! I don’t remember much of what happens, just what it made me feel, which was a lot of longing. I still think about this visual from the very end of the fic :’)

Anyway, I think that’s probably as condensed as I can make my RoChu recommendations! I hope something in there is new for you, anon, and thank you for sending this ask <3

This was my first ever HetaGame project :') which I started back in 2018! Despite the years, it's actually a pretty short game, but I wanted to complete this project rather than drag it on too much.

Ochi Chernye

A dedicated art piece for the 10th anniversary of my favorite Fic ever ‘Ochi Chernye’ by @mimizuku9

It’s hard for me to explain in a short amount to express how much I’ve come to adore this fic, I’ve only finished reading it around a month ago (or two) after a friend recommended me it as I was just starting hetalia eailer this year and became a rochu super fan; I can’t help but still feel an intense reaction and ache in my heart thinking about this fan fiction and how it has affected me as a consumer; I can’t say other than it being pure art and how amazing the authors work are in general so please take a read of it when you can! And, if mimizuku9 if you see this I hope to see more of your works in the future please keep on writing you truly are an amazing author

Aaaah this is so lovely, I'm so touched 😭 omg I love Yao's expression especially in this, it's such a pure and happy smile!! It really brings back the feelings I had when I wrote the ending, so bittersweet. Thank you so much for making this and for your kind words ❤️

Question,, would anyone be interested in copies of book printed versions of Ochi Chernye / Rules and Narrow Margins / The Black Lily of Shanghai? I have one of each.

I have some decent attempts at book printing with these but there are some minor formatting mistakes, let me know/like if you might want a copy! I'll post more details if there is interest.

hey do you still write? just wanted to say your such a good writer like your ochi chernye is the only fanfic i have reread.

Thank youu ; v ; hearing that a story of mine is being reread is one of my favourite things to hear!!

As to whether I still write... I haven't posted in a long while, and I would say that I don't actually sit down to write very often at all these days, but I am still thinking and plotting and daydreaming about my stories most days. Because of my studies, I unfortunately don't have a lot of time or energy for writing fic. That doesn't mean I've given up on my WIPs, though! Progress is just going to have to be very slow,,,

I have a chapter of "In Other Words" that is in the editing phase right now, though, so you may see me posting sometime soon :)

Ahah to be honest, I don't have so many to choose from, but these are the five I would rec:

1. Ochi Chernye - RoChu, modern AU featuring lots of blood, gore, and naturally, romance. Heavily inspired by NBC's Hannibal, and going back to read it now I funnily enough can't stomach reading some of the bloody scenes. But, I really like the romantic tension I built between Ivan and Yao - it's something I can't quite replicate anymore! Definitely read if you enjoy a slow-burn. This fic was the first serious work I ever posted, and it still holds a special place in my heart.

2. The Black Lily of Shanghai - RoChu, angsty modern AU where Yao is a violinist, and Ivan is a haunted composer. Read if you want something tragic but in a romantic, gothic kind of way. It also features 2p!Russia and Nyo!China!! I really loved writing for this fic and has some of the best prose I think I've ever written.

3. Rules and Narrow Margins - RoChu & USUK, 1950s Highschool AU. I recommend if you enjoy something that immerses you in a specific time period - I definitely really enjoyed researching for this fic and recreating the details of that era in the US. It also has the fluffiest RoChu romance I've ever written :')

4. Cannot Forget - RoChu, canonverse fic featuring snippets of the Sino-Soviet relationship. I honestly don't know how I managed to write this in a week!! It was for RoChu Week 2017 and I was very determined to write a chapter for every prompt. I basically poured my love for Sino-Soviet history into this one <3

5. In Other Words - RusAme, "canonverse" fic taking place 40 years into the future. Ivan and Alfred embark on a mission to Jupiter's moon, Callisto, while trying to navigate their messy personal feelings about each other. This fic only has 1 chapter up ; - ; and I'm very slow writing it because so much research has to go into it, but I'm very excited about it. If you like RusAme for the space gays angle, this is a fic of mine I'd recommend!
