“How could I ever have thought that stupid ‘hero’ plan would ever work out? I’m sure that even if Ortho didn’t…..die…..we would’ve been stopped.” *Idia sighs* “Whatever…can’t change the past… 0% is always 0%… but…. For some reason…. I can’t accept that….. I always just want… to think… he’s still alive.” *Idia pauses for about 3 minutes.* “I think I’ve started hallucinating. Sometimes I’m playing Star Rouge with Ortho, and then look over to him… and he’s gone when I could have sworn he was there a second ago.” *Idia exhales deeply* “Ortho’s funeral is on the first. I overheard one of the staff saying it’s gonna be closed casket to ‘honour his body’, but I know that’s just bullshit. They just don’t want to see his body with his organs spilling out… like I did……..oh Sevens… If I could’ve removed one memory…it’d be that one…wait. I could send myself down to the Lethe River…but…I would have to get through the security… and the staff keep a much closer eye on me now ever since………. Whatever. Who cares? All those sheeple only care about me because I’m the heir and I’m good a techomantic engineering. Nothing else. But then again… what else is there to me? I’m not strong or handsome…I barely talk to others… the only people I talk to on the daily is my family! And…. My only friend was… Ortho…. And he’s gone…forever… I’ll never talk to him again. He’s down in the Underworld and his body returned to the stars. F-Forever.” *Idia slowly starts hyperventilating* “A-And it’s all my fault!-for being such a pathetic, useless brother!” *Idia begins laughing manically* “W-well, you know what they say! Security systems have been compromised by an external cyberattack. All locks in Tartarus have been disengaged. Subject ROS-3367A has escaped its lab. All Charon troops, report to Tartarus immediately! All noncombatants, evacuate to the shelters!” “Nii-chan, what’s with the noise?” “Wait… did I just do that!? *Shuffling* “Nii-chan, is it on?” “Yeah…” *Clears throat* “My name is Idia Shroud, I’m currently 10 years old, I’m the heir to the Shroud family and STYX, and I made this voice recording program to record logs of me and Ortho’s adventures as heroes!” *Idia giggles* “Alright, your turn.” “Okay!” *footsteps* “My name is Ortho Shroud, I’m gonna turn 7 in a few days, and me and my Nii-chan are gonna be the coolest heroes ever!” *Idia and Ortho giggles* “Okay, we’re gonna go now and I’m gonna hack into the security so we can leave and become heroes, be back soon!”
there's these weird misinterpretations of rook and vil's dynamic that i sometimes see people spread where they make it seem like they just,,don't actually truly care about each other???
particularly i see this said for rook, where the false notion that rook "only likes vil for his beauty" gets spread specifically, which i think comes from the total misunderstanding of what beauty really means to rook. in rook's definition, beauty incapsulates all different forms and types of INTERNAL strengths, some of which (such as confidence) translate into perceived physical beauty. rook wasn't just drawn to vil because he's pretty, but he was (and is) genuinely interested and captivated by him as a person.
i also see people sometimes bring up the fact that rook and vil are choosing to go their separate ways for their 4th year (and that's somehow "proof" that their bond is shallow) which it totally confusing to me??? it's perfectly normal and healthy when people in a relationship have goals and ambitions outside of each other. that doesn't make their bond weak, it shows that rook and vil have a flexible relationship that can sustain distance. they're not splitting up as a duo, they're just moving onto the next part of their lives.
occasionally, the accusation of rook being disloyal to vil for the fact he likes neige gets thrown around too. it's honestly crazy how many times i've heard people say that vil should've punished rook for finding out he likes neige, and/or that it should've permanently damaged their relationship. it's so wild to me that some fans don't understand how toxic that would be, and treating rook like he's just some sort of "second in command" to vil that's only meant to serve as his personal yes-man is a COMPLETE misunderstanding of their dynamic. this one is especially insane because i've seen people take it so far as to say vil should've caused PHYSICAL HARM to rook???? like saying he should've attacked him or shoved him off the stage???? why would you ever wish for that to happen. im worried about you. are you genuinely ok.
rook is allowed to have his own opinions and likes outside of vil's conviction. especially considering how incredibly meaningful neige and his work is to rook, why would vil ever inherently hold that fact against him?? in book 5, when vil found out that rook likes neige, it's very much shown that vil isn't mad about the fact that rook likes neige, but rather he's surprised and mildly upset that rook had never told him in the first place. (also considering the high likelihood that vil atleast knows a bit about rook's childhood and struggle with emotional expression. with how rook told malleus and idia little bit about it pretty casually, it seems VERY unlikely that rook hasn't brought it up to vil at any point before.) and we're shown this in the later books as well, particularly when it comes to rook's voting in vdc. vil is a very understanding person, and he continuously defends rook's decision in voting for neige against the other nrc team members, who do express a bit of spite towards rook because of their loss before being shut down by vil.
and now. to finally discuss it. (one of) the main roots of people calling rook toxic. vil's labwear vignette. it's WILD how many times ive seen people call rook and his dynamic with vil toxic because of this vignette, so let me try and break it down. rook didn't point out vil's gained weight because of his own selfish desires to "keep vil pretty", another accusation ive seen towards rook. he pointed it out because he's aware of how important these things are to vil, and knows vil depends on him for honesty + rook is a naturally blunt person. let me just say that what rook said and how he said it was ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY in any regard, and at the same time there was also a reason behind him saying it, with it not being just said out of selfishness or malice.
also weirdly enough there's an odd amount of just,,,total misinformation that sometimes goes on too when it comes to rookvil's relationship???? like for example "rookvil's dynamic is unhealthy because rook was first stalking vil before he approached him when they were first years!!" what are you talking about💔that has NEVER been mentioned to have happened anywhere

The Heartslabyul rose garden was typically a closed sanctuary, strictly off-limits unless the mad whims of an Unbirthday Party called for it, or if any unfortunate students had been ordered by their housewarden to spend their afternoon painting the white roses a bleeding red.(Which was almost always)
Today, however, the labyrinth of briars stood in total silence. Why? Because Riddle had ruthlessly dismissed every last student from the grounds, clearing out the card soldiers and the chatter completely—all for the sole purpose of securing a few stolen, uninterrupted moments alone with his favorite rose.
You.
You were the sole reason the entire student body had been booted from the garden, but it wasn't a bad thing—oh, no no. On the contrary, the card soldiers were practically ecstatic to be excused from their grueling duties. A wave of gratitude had swept through the dorm, everyone utterly thrilled that their meticulous, rule-abiding leader was so entirely, blissfully distracted by you.
"And then I saw Grim actually somersault on the chandelier, with fire practically spewing out of his mouth! I was completely stunned, but it really was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen!" You rambled, a brilliant, radiant smile plastered on your face.
Beside you, Riddle listened with total, undivided attention. The usual sharp, stern edge of the Housewarden had completely melted away, his eyes shining with a genuine, soft warmth as he hung on your every word.
There was just something so… soothing about your voice.
"And then what happened next?" he prompted, his voice laced with a rare, gentle patience.
It was a tone that would have utterly flabbergasted the rest of Heartslabyul, easily fueling the dormitory's endless gossip about their Housewarden’s blatant favoritism. Under any other circumstances, the mere mention of a flaming monster wrecking school property would have sent Riddle into a furious panic, demanding to know why Grim was endangering the school.
But right now? That wasn't the case, the strict rules and fiery temper were completely forgotten as he simply leaned in, entirely content to just keep listening to you. (Most students would faint at the sight)
You paused, pursing your lips in deep thought for a brief moment before your face instantly brightened as the next memory clicked into place.
"Oh! And then both Deuce and Ace burst onto the scene, and right at that exact moment, Professor Crewel caught them!" you exclaimed, your hands waving around animatedly to emphasize. "He immediately assumed the duo had something to do with the whole mess! Like… they were Grim's accomplices or something!" (Ace was mad mad too).
The two of you continued your leisurely stroll through the breathtaking maze of the garden, the fragrant air wrapping around you both in a serene, quiet comfort. Yet, just for a split second, Riddle’s notorious, razor-sharp perfectionism flared to life. Out of the corner of his eye, a single, offending splash of white peeked out from a bush—a pristine rose that his slacking card soldiers had completely missed.
A sharp twitch pricked at his brow, his fingers tightening instinctually as the urge to summon his magical pen and demand an immediate execution of the rules flared within him.
But then, he looked back at you, you were still smiling and looking back at him.
Swallowing down the rising lecture, Riddle forced his posture to relax and deliberately averted his gaze from the unpainted flower. It was an impressive feat of self-restraint for the Riddle Rosehearts. But there was absolutely no way he was going to let a single spot of white ruin this precious, flawless moment with you.
Everything was going beautifully. However, for all of Riddle’s meticulous planning and foresight, he hadn't expected for the sudden, gentle warmth that suddenly slid against his palm.
Your fingers slipped between his, slowly and deliberately intertwining until your hands were perfectly locked together.
The breathless gasp that caught in his throat was met only by your gaze. The bright grin you had worn while recounting the day's chaos had softened, melting into a expression that was meant solely, deeply, for him.
The touch was entirely personal, drawing an intimate boundary around the two of you that the rest of the academy could never touch.
"Uhm… thank you for being here with me, I know you were probably quite busy so this means a lot to me."
Riddle pressed his lips into a thin line, trying to hide the flustered blush that had spread across his cheeks, turning them nearly as red as his hair, though this time it wasn’t out of anger(A miracle). He tightened his grip slightly before quickly looking away, unable to hide his embarrassment any longer.
"O-of course! My schedule may be a bit hectic, especially with so many troublemakers running around… but I’ll always make time for you." His voice softened at the end, quieter now, yet you could still hear the sincerity of his promise.
A walk in the garden was all what you two needed after all. Now… can someone tell Ace and Deuce to stop following the two of you?
Ending is rushed... Clearly ehem.
