Herakles wasn't sure what he was going to tell her, then again it was very possible that she already knew. He'd been working for this, one day, but he hadn't ever expected it to be so soon. He'd had goddess after goddess shoved at him in hopes he'd marry them but he just shook his head to each and every one. But, Meg wasn't back from the underworld yet and so he couldn't go to her and outright ask her.
He waited until the first day of spring, knowing well enough it was that day because he had seen his sister preparing her retinue and made his way to the cave outside of Thebes where he settled to wait for her.

Of course that was a hazard of their arrangement but he was still determined to show her he wasn't going anywhere, at least not permanently well aware of how she felt about abandonment. Finally there was some hub bub on the island, which of course meant his brother was approaching in all his party animal glory.
Megara peeked out a window with mingled excitement and intimidation. She kept as far out of sight as she could for as long as possible.
He knew that it would bring up many emotions for her, though he also knew it would do the same for her siblings. "She's even more timid since you've all been...well the way you are now," he reminded them.
“She’s always been timid,” Haemon said, “she must be a complete shut in now.”
