I can’t sing or speak confidently about my love for you, so I write, and I continuously write until it’s early morning and my hand’s cramping. I have bookshelves full of journals with excerpts about you written in between the lines. I highlight the phrases in books that remind me of you, of us, of you and I together. My playlists are full of loud music with meaningful lyrics hidden inside the torturous sounds of drums and electric guitars. I show my love in the ways words are strung together, in the ways where a shiver chills down your spine, with your heart skipping a beat; I love intensively with the power of words. While you’re out screaming “I love you” from the top of your lungs, I’ll be silently writing away into the early mornings with the smeared ink from my left, cramped hand.

How Do We Fall in Love?

People say you fall in love in the same way a fire consumes a source of fuel. It burns slowly, until it’s gone. The ashes that are left, the remainder of the once powerful source of heat and light, are only but what you make of it.

Is it destruction? Consumation? The end, or the beginning? Is it a new substance marking a new start, or is it the time when you know… Everything’s gone?

Other people say you fall in love through words, and sly actions. Flirting is a habit most people have, and the flirtier you get, the more attractive you seem to another person. The ‘smoother’ your words are, the faster s/he’ll fall. Add in a couple of cliche actions like buying this person what s/he wants, kissing him/her, showing affection… S/he’s done for.

It’s like drizzling your words with honey, and you feed it to the person again and again. I wonder if there’s ever someone who got sick and tired of that honey, and sometimes I wonder…

Maybe you’re tired of honey, too.

And then, a small percentage of this world, the truer ones— they believe in fate. The signs. God, and His ultimate plan. Fortunes. The stars.

Whatever you call it, they believe in some magical force, tying two persons together. And that rope? It can never be broken. It may wear out, but never severed.

I think of you, and I think of fire.

I fell for you, and it consumed me, and it consumed us. The aftermath wasn’t so beautiful as it is now. The passion long died. We aren’t in that 'honeymoon phase’ anymore.

You once reassured me in paragraphs, long and verbose. You sent me pictures of yourself, and it made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. You tell me you love me constantly, and you kept on calling me names that make my knees go weak. You called me your happiness, and you told me I was basically your life.

Now? They’re gone.

I wonder, sometimes, if I’m still in love with the memories. If the ash that I had found makes me long for the fire that once burned within us, or if it makes me stronger… pushing myself to believe that we don’t need the fire, and we can create something new with the ashes.

I think of you, and I think of words.

You made me fall through words. I used to think of you as someone just behind a screen, in a world different from mine. I thought you were someone else, but I was surprised that it was you all along. You were a smooth-talker. You played with words and you managed to have me lining up for your attention too.

Sometimes, I guess, maybe it's because I was never good in words? I may be a writer, a poet, but I'm still searching for a way to value words more than writing. I struggle to choose my words carefully, and often say things I don't mean. Is that why you have fun in more things than talking to me? Is it because I'm not your happiness anymore that you distance yourself?

You say nothing's changed but... everything is constantly changing, evolving. I think I'm being left in the dust, and I'm so scared you'll finally realize that you don't need me anymore.

I think of you, and I think of fate.

I kept on asking God for signs. I'm a firm believer that God finds ways to talk to us, to pinpoint us to where we need to go and what we need to do. So far, he's always told me that we're meant for each other. That one time we met accidentally in that mall, unprepared... I prayed. I think you're a blessing meant for me to keep. One I refuse to let go of.

You are brought to me by destiny, and the stars always point me to you. I'd never doubt it.

Living is all about the future. Dying is all about darkness. Decisions are entailed for the future, And darkness is just complete on its own. People ask me why I prefer to die. They don't realize that I bathe in darkness, The relaxing and ever so present Nyx, Is much more appealing than crossroads.

A lot of people yearn for the talent to say things the way I do, In astounding words that impales itself through the heart, But they don't know that it was both a blessing and a curse. It's beautiful to write, But first, I must feel. And I feel, the same way I write, Etching feelings in my fragile heart, Breaking it in the process, Yet continuing to do so anyway.
