During the early days of the quarantine, we can do nothing at all. All that we could do is to count how many days have passed since the start of quarantine. For me, during this period, all I could do was to eat. I would eat anything that I saw or craved. Even if I'm not that hungry, I would still eat.
One particular dish that I took a liking was turon. It is not just your typical turon, it is an innovation if i would say because rather than the typical banana filling, it was filled with flavored sticky rice, particularly ube-flavored with a little cheese at the center of it. Then what will be of turon if not for it's drizzled caramelized sugar. But the Ube turon that I had did not have a caramelized sugar drizzle but a ube-flavored caramel drizzle.
When I first saw that turon getting sold, at first I did not like it just because it does not resembles the typical turon that I like. But then, my grandma brought some, knowing that it will be eaten by grandma, I took a bike out of curiosity but to my surprise, it was so delicious. The next thing I know is that I became a patron of the said turon subconsciously and not long that said turon got so popular that there are many people buying it even before it was cooked. There are even some people who tried to copy this idea to sell their own turon but unfortunately it did not hit.
My cravings for food did not stop until the mid to late stages of quarantine where we have experienced a food scarcity and I had to control my appetite.
