Our Debut album “Echo En Mexico” is scheduled for official release on July 22nd through Vampisoul-Munster records out of Spain and we couldn’t be happier about it! From the amazing art of Gerardo Arellano and the photography of Phrog E. Styre to the great recording work from Fresh up, Bootleg, Lechehouse, Level One, and Daniel’s house studios to the awesome mixing of Greg & Beto and the killer mastering job by Sam Patlove. We’re all very proud of the final product.

It’s taken a lot of time and hard work to put this thing together and now that its done we intend to start the process of touring, selling merch and expanding our reach. As a result of this ambition, we will no longer be updating this tumblr site as we migrate to our official website www.moneychicha.com/ We encourage everyone to check it out. It will have music, pictures, tour dates and of course links to our social media.

MONEY CHICHA UPDATE!

Hello everybody, we’re excited to announce that our debut album is finished and set for release this summer through Spanish label Vampisoul/Munster Records. The album, entitled “Echo en Mexico” will be released this summer. Stay tuned for more details!

In other news, we have a couple Texas shows scheduled in the next few weeks including a show in San Antonio on May 25th at Ocho in the Havana Hotel and a show in Austin on June 3rd at the legendary Antone’s club with our good friends Hard Proof.

Austin People!

You have two chances to catch Money Chicha in action this June. First, we will be joining this awesome lineup of local musicians (see flyer above) for an all-day FREE festival event featuring a diverse assortment of bands and entertainers on two stages in east Austin. We will be performing from 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM on the Pyramid stage. Come join us and celebrate the Solstice! June 20th, Pan Am Park

WE will also be performing on Thursday June 25th from 6-9 at Central Market North Lamar. This show is also FREE, all ages, and takes place on a great patio by a park.

We’re excited to announce that we will be partaking in this year’s Fusebox Festival as part of the Battle of the Golden Ages: Hip Hop VS. Cumbia throwdown. The show will feature students and faculty of Austin’s renowned Anthropos Arts & music program as well as special guests from Austin’s Grammy-award-winning powerhouse Grupo Fantasma as well as Will Holland AKA DJ Quantic. Come support the next generation of Austin musicians as we attempt this incredible mash-up.

Join us this SXSW for a FREE show at Stay Gold on the eastside in Austin on March 16. The event will be a pizza party put on by local label, Alphabet Records, releasers of our first 7inch vinyl! If you haven't gotten a copy yet, we will have some available for sale at the event for $5 or you can order a copy online HERE.

                          HAPPY NEW YEAR/ FELIZ AÑO NUEVO

Our Monday night residency has been a resounding success thus far! So far we've had numerous special guests sit in and jam and capacity crowds of sweaty dancing revelers cavorting to the psychedelia infused sounds of Money Chicha. We'd like to thank our guests thus far, Ian Moore (pictured above), John Branch, Josh Purdue, Alex Marrero, Rudy "Rexx" Canales, Elias Haslinger and Gene Centeno. The residency continues every Monday through January 19th at 10:30 PM after Elias Haslinger and The Church on Monday.

BUT, If you can't do Mondays, or if you prefer having a little more space available to dance, we will also be performing Thursday January 8th from 10:00PM on in the Continental Club on South Congress.

After this, we will be taking a little break to attend to our other bands and families so please come out and catch us at any one or more of these great events.

We're excited to announce that we will be starting a residency at the Continental Club Gallery in mid December! You'll be able to catch us on South Congress Mondays after 10:30 from December 22nd - January 19th after Elias Hasl;inger and his tremendous Church on Monday show. Expect lots of jamming, special guests, special songs and strectching out on all of our favorite chicha, cumbia, psychedelic and other jams. We will also have copies of our first single/45 available for sale at the shows!

We'll be back in action soon! Most of our members will be hitting the road with Brownout presents: Brown Sabbath next month but not before we got a chance to lay some tracks of magic to the glorious analog tape machines of Alphabet Records. Stay tuned for a forthcoming .45 on their label and our nearly completed full length as well.
