order was the same order nightmare used to enter the stage in: LSN/Ruka (40 mins), Bull Field/Ni~ya (30 mins), gremlins/Hitsugi (40 mins), Jakigan Meister/Sakito (50 mins, of course), Take No Break/Yomi (40 mins)
sakito showed up in high heels, a new harness and full slay queen mode bc apparently now he has no problem with the others seeing him like that
ni~ya’s solo is so lulzy/cringy that apparently sakito laughed his ass off on the balcony (poor dude honestly i still don’t see why ni~ya has to do this when even HE knows he can’t sing to save his life) but people had fun
sakito and ruka outright ignored each other for the ENTIRETY of the event
sakito barely shook hands with yomi and hitsugi even though they tried (ni~ya on the other hand got a high-five from him)
like back during not the end tour sakito laughed again when yomi got all fake emotional about nightmare
and the few interactions there were (at the very end) were really forced
they didn’t even play anything together, just stood on stage together at the end and yomi said there’d be some news next year (i think they didn’t even take a dressing room pic together………. at least none of them posted one and ruka didn’t even tweet about the event??)
that’s it
man I wanted a niconico stream just to witness all the awkward moments between them as they tried to pretend they don’t hate each other’s guts :( ofc you gotta exclude ni~ya from this bc i think the dude really just likes everyone and wants them all to get along but from what i’ve seen before and what i’ve heard of this live so far i’d say nightmare is dead (thank fuck). sakito is just DONE and i think ruka may be even more done with ntmr than sakito if that’s even possible. maybe they’ll swallow their egos to come together once a year to rake in some cash, but it’s highly likely they’ll keep their solos going. at this point i don’t see how they’re going to tour together without murdering each other, so
let’s hope @mononon writes up a real report, i’m sure she has some more details
I thought we were trying to be nice about this LOL.
All of this but a few things:
-Saki Did compliment Niya on his songs and was generally nicer than gremlins about it. Except the bassist chiyu who has an obvious Niya boner.
-the end to me was incredibly forced specially on Rukas part who didn’t even try. Sakito just smiled kept checking for his crew and tried to be really civil about it. The thing between Sakito and Ruka is not good and it really looked like Sakito gets along with Niya and that’s it.
I have the feeling whatever was said about hiatus hurt him deeply and he is not over it. He knew Yomi wanted a hug but went for a handshake keeping the distance. Yet at the end yomi won and got a hug. Hitsugi gets along better with Sakito as he joked with him and Sakito was kind of ok. But there was a distinct feeling of coldness
Just wanted to left this here because i get the feeling people blame Sakito on the Hiatus and having a what is perceived bad attitude and it’s not like that but he can’t stand fakedness as well as others, yet he was polite and stood there till the end.
-Don’t Look Back - Which sounds like something out of a Luna Sea record. Sakito was watching in the shadows from the first floor and so were Hiro and Tooru, both cheering. Sakito went back during this song but on his MC told Niya that it was a really good song.
(Like he hasn’t heard it before, they are both Timely so you know what that means)
-BLABLABLA Brave Niyaman
-New Song 2 - Which has a really calm and adult like feeling?
-Bright. - Cute, cute song, but with a rock feeling to it,
Actually song-wise they sounded really good, it all sounds more Ray of Light than any other Niya previous song (And belive me I’m waiting for Nothing part 2), super bass, and really good writing skills.
When he started singing people were surprised but then during the second song the vocals gave out, and at the last one it was painful, as in no air and no control, and out of tune. I mean it’s not impossible to save, but it needs so much work. (And I mean professional work, not Amazon-sensei)
Bass work is REALLY good, and the band has a good feeling, helps the drummer was one of the junior from Niya High-school.
During the MC they talked about how they met and Niya say “Two years ago I didn’t want to do solo and now look at me.”
The band also left just at the end of Bright but Niya called them back to introduce them again. He said he has a few events planned and he seems really happy about the future of this band, and Jakigan.
Jakigan Meister set list:
-Distorsion. - Had a new intro.
-Shikouhin: Call and response was kind of the same as last year, he called every band name. (L-S-N, BURURURURURU FIELD, GURE GURE GURE…MLINS, TAKE NO BREAK) I mean it was really cute the way he put it.
-Vita
-Garakuta : First time hearing it, Sakito messed the intro and had to ask for a bit of time to Hiro who was laughing a lot. Niya looked so surprised. He took a few moments, said “Today I’m useless”, and then started the song. It is what Sakito considers a hard song, so it has a bit of a messy feeling, but sounds promising.
-Tokyo Underworld: Since Halloween is soon, he decided to include it.
-Stargazer : Before starting people got really surprised with the acoustic and the bass. Sakito said “Today almost all bands are doing up-tempo songs but I thought about doing a more mature type of song”
He made Niya do the counting but called him Buruchan. “Buruchan c’mon”. :D “1,2,1,2,3″
-Jaki…: He commented on how beautiful it looked all the audience head-banging hard to it. The audience woke up to this, LSN tried and so did Gremlins (But nobody tried to dance around) , but fully accomplished I think it was only here.
-Dawn: What a cheap move to close with this one. What can I say, it’s probably one of my favourite songs he has ever made.
He took a long time to do the MC, the longest because LSN and Take No Break went by without MC.
The MC was a bit of a mess, but in a cute way, Sakito kept hitting his head trying to get his thoughts in order. He said he had been watching everybody backstage and was a bit nervous about it.
He said he had heard the Bullfield songs before the live (LOL) and he really likes Don’t Look back. Niya said that it makes him really happy to heard that from a bandmate, (being told by Sakito he actually listened to one of your songs must be the greatest feeling in the world)
The other bands were Ok I guess. I mean LSN was a bit “cold”, it surprised me they didn’t go for an MC. (Also messy messy songs but what is new in Ruka’s world) .Take no Break was the last one with little MC, it’s not my thing, Yomi voice sometimes suffers through it but it’s arranged enough to keep it on. Gremlins was kind of a surprise, the band dynamics are quite funny, they did a really long MC about Niya’s band (Who was watching from top) Chiyu has to be the biggest fanboy in the world.
The show ended and people kept screaming encore. Quints started sounding and they all came together at the end.
Yomi said next year he would like to make another thing like this to make people happy. But that was about it.
Ruka ran as soon as possible backstage and completely ignored everyone. Niya was just hugging everyone, and Sakito was there with a really forced smiled kind of locating his crew. He tried to handhsake Yomi but Yomi went for a hug (a bit weird and full of manly pats on the back), he also tried to handhsake Hitsugi but Hitsugi just joked around. Niya got a highfive. They all left the stage.
What we know is that probably in one year the reunion will be announced obviously to celebrate the 20th anniversary. But I do feel they’ll probably keep the solos going on and do a couple of Nightmare shows.
Preview of Sakito’s instrumental electronica track “Indra” (from his DJ event) which I’m sure he made for the sole purpose of reminding everyone he’s still a beast on the guitar.
I mean, first of all I’m laughing because just “Ni~ya”
I’m also laughing because LH aren’t even trying to pretend that they’re not owned by Nightmare
I’m also laughing because this has the potential to be 3-4 hours of pure, delicious family drama and god I wish I could see it (maybe I’ll try to just for the drama)
And yet I’m worried because this looks a lot like they’re testing the waters for a Nightmare reunion to see whether they can still fill a Zepp :/
Sakito you told me not to worry about your solo so what the hell is this
Because Sakito is #triggered af over this in every interview and I’m gonna spread the word before he has another fit 😂
Jakigan Meister ≠ a band
Jakigan Meister ≠ Sakito + support members
Jakigan Meister = Sakito
It’s literally just Sakito. He’s “Jakigan-san”. Ni~ya, Tooru and Hiro are not “part of” Jakigan Meister. They’re his (and I quote) “support musicians” not even support members lmao
He painstakingly points out in every CD booklet that “All lyrics & music: Sakito”
Also since he’s a…. professional photographer (prrrrfffft) now, “Cover photo by: Sakito”
It’s his. Everything is his! His outfits are his. His music is his! HIS HIS HIS.
Don’t make the same mistake that interviewer made u_u
Jakigan Meister “Yin-Yang” Tour (Tokyo 2018.06.29)
Sakito’s birthday live which was also the tour final took place at EX Theater Roppongi. I had to queue for goods for two hours, which was unexpected and the first time I’ve seen an actual goods queue since his first solo live.
We managed to get a spot with a really good view at the first bar, standing (EX Theater also has a 2nd floor with seats). Morrie and his wife were there to watch, so was Hitsugi. This was Morrie’s first time seeing Sakito’s solo although he’s always been the one to push him to do stuff alone.
I expected Sakito to wear the outfit from his new pamphlet, but as he mentioned later his mother was also there, so maybe that’s why he didn’t. He seemed a bit nervous at first because of the important visitors, but quickly warmed up and I think by the time Shikouhin with it’s fun call & response part came around he was feeling like himself again.
Sakito sounded REALLY good. In Osaka, you could hear a slight strain in his voice and although it had been much better the next day in Nagoya, I think his voice isn’t yet used to such long tours. The one week break between Nagoya and the final paid off and he sounded clear and the vibrato was on point.
He gave several longer MCs, a couple serious ones and many funny ones. At some point when the goofing around had gotten out of hand he was like “I’m sorry, we’re not actually a comedy band” while trying to look very stern and failing. He’s displaying such a bright and easy-going personality now compared to Nightmare, it really is refreshing to watch.
Since Ni~ya always gives a count (1, 2, 3, 4) before Stargazer, Sakito requested it this time as well (”Please do it because it’s my birthday”), joking about how it was really the highlight of the whole song lol. He also opens the new Stargazer version with a brief harmony between him and Tooru (”Konyaaa~”) but had to start over this time because he was laughing too hard at the Ni~ya thing.
Throughout the live he kept milking the birthday theme in a really funny way, pretending to take it much more seriously than he actually did (maybe making fun of himself for how seriously he used to take it?). Basically, whenever one of the others asked him something, his go-to reason was “because it’s my birthday” lol.
Setlist-wise, I think he made a bit of a mistake because up until Shikouhin (usually the 3rd or 4th song), he has the audience very hyped and energetic. But after Shikouhin he started playing several slower songs, letting that energy die. I personally enjoy his slow songs a lot, but it would be better to put them towards the end of the first part instead of so soon at the beginning and especially not after Shikouhin’s crazy call & response.
DAWN is the perfect finishing song for the main part, and oh lord did he deliver it well. No wonder even Morrie was all over that song.
He gave a long MC about how much it meant to him that we all came for his birthday and that we support him, because he struggles with it sometimes, tends to feel insecure and full of doubt. But knowing there are so many people who believe in him and enjoy what he’s doing makes it easier for him to continue on his path. He also thanked the other three for their support and sent out thanks to the staff.
When Sakito continued the encore with a very serious speech, Ni~ya suddenly interrupted him and Sakito was all fake offended at him ruining the emotional mood. Then Ni~ya brought out Yomi (wearing the Sakaguchi t-shirt) as a surprise guest, who also brought a huge bouquet of flowers for Sakito (that he had to carry on the train) and a cake (that Sakito didn’t eat). I was surprised with how smoothly Sakito handled it, but I did notice his hand shaking really badly at some point. He suddenly seemed very nervous again. I’m going to be honest, I really don’t think bringing Yomi of all people was the smartest idea, not with his tendency of taking over the stage and Sakito already feeling super insecure about his frontman skills (which he shouldn’t worry about at all, but it’s Sakito). Yomi of course dominated the next 10 minutes and it would have been funny if Sakito hadn’t looked so lost. Yomi also did some self-promo and then Sakito blew out his candles while Yomi made us sing happy birthday.
Sakito had previously performed a cover of Luna Sea’s song “Desire”, but they went at it again with Yomi (whose voice is still a disaster, there I said it). Sakito again seemed a bit at a loss, asking where he should stand on the stage and I was a bit :( because it was as if he suddenly forgot this was actually HIS concert.
After Yomi left, Sakito proceeded with the encore, playing Boys Be Suspicious and a few harder Jakigan songs. Oh also, his performance of the two derp songs “Hard Rock wa shinasenai” and “Hard KoROCKe Soba” (as he calls it now) is an amazing mess. He actually does that voice live hahaha
For more detailed MC info please refer to @mononon‘s live report, I don’t want to unnecessarily repeat stuff and make this too long.
Sakito tried to be extra and decided that throwing picks wasn’t enough. So he ran back on stage after the first part and attempted to tear a button off his jacket, but was too weak lol eventually he gave up and disappeared backstage for a moment to get someone to help him with it.
Overall, it was a really good live with two encores, but did feel a bit rushed and not as high energy as Nagoya. And of course it didn’t compare to his birthday live last year, but that one will be near impossible to beat. The moment I saw Morrie take his seat, I knew Sakito would be a bit more uptight than usual, but all things considered he did great and delivered a solid and fun performance with on-point vocals.
The handshake after was also more rushed than before, but he looked happy as usual to see us. I begged him not to stop his solo and he laughed and was like “yes yes I got it now”.
Y’all can fight me but I refuse to take Nightmare back when I can have this instead. Anyone who hasn’t actually seen his solo with their own eyes has no idea how superior his shows are to Nightmare’s. He brings out the best in his support musicians as well and gives them plenty of moments to shine, sacrificing his ego for balance and amazing song variations. I just wish he would use his live voice on the recordings instead of doing… whatever he was doing when he recorded Stargazer and Yin-Yang.
Anyway, that’s it. I’m still a bit sad I didn’t manage to get his big tour t-shirt with the triangle but it sold out in the middle of the tour already.
Here’s Morrie’s tweet about the live and a rough translation:
“Last night in Roppongi I saw Sakito’s Jakigan Meister for the first time. The multi-colored/diversely developing performance (also including a headbanging spectacle and so on) was a tour final in high spirits. The songs were also substantial and the guitar solo of the last song of the main part [a/n: DAWN] came close to my heart, I wanted to listen to that longer. The outfit with the wide sleeves and exposed stomach was also cute.”
(This is based on what I remember of the lives and my own opinions. I love this band dearly. )
We were all waiting for the show to start when in walks Morrie with his wife, and the lady of Tabisite. Also Hitsugi.
Show started and Sakito came in with the tour outfit, not the pamphlet outfit, as we were expecting. Not a bad choice either, good shoes. So does the rest of the band, with their terrible sleeves, completely destroyed.
Show starts and we knew that Sakito was a bit nervous, but in a different way that last year. Nervous as he used to be in Nightmare finals when there were important guests.
At some point he even exclaimed “iruyo” to the fact that yes, Morrie was there.
About the set list, Distorsion got moved later on, we still had the middle section full of slow songs that killed the mood a bit. The last part was epic with Tokyo Underworld and Jaki. Dawn, again, is such a gem.
Off to the MC.
During Shikouhin the Call and reponse thing started as something like “I don’t go out in Roppongi. Because it’s a bit scary.”
Then they did the Cmon baby USA gag https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Fz3zvaZIx4 but with Roppongi. Sakito looked for anyone who wanted to do it but turned clearly towards Niya.
“Oi, Blue haired man”. Until Niya turned to him, and Sakito told him to do it first since he really looked like he wanted to. Niya came to the front and started doing it while Sakito looked at him.
At the end Sakito went like “Why are you getting so cute?”
Niya: “I’m really embarrassed”.
He also prompted Hiro to do it, which he did very well, and Tooru apparently couldn't because doing it he hurt his knee the first day. But they played the Rocky theme for him and he tried, and even if it hurt him, apparently people voices cheer him up.
At Stargazer he also had a few words before starting, he said that they did the jazz arrengements for the song but that Niya was actually the one carrying the whole piece. (Probably referring to his very important job as the counter ). Niya was about to speak but static electricity attacked him from the mic. He stuck his tongue out while gesturing like a little kid.
Sakito told him that the fans had wrote in a fan letter that they really liked the countdown he does, but that they can’t help to laugh.
N: Who’s writing that=. (All of this while the mic keep electrocuting him, poor thing).
S “But I don’t think they do it to laugh at you, they like it because you are working hard”
N: Ah well then its ok.
S: You are so easy-going. Well anyway today you give me your best countdown.
N: (As always not listening) Eh? What?
S: Today you give me your best counting. Because today its my birthday.
N: Oh, Ok, ok.
S: Will you do it for me?
N: Of course, of course.
Niya kept getting electrocuted and he keep complaining. He tried to do the counting but the got burnt again, anyway Sakito congratulated him during the song.
Before Sowaka Sakito talked about how since the solo started he really wanted to compose his own music, and do the songs he wanted to do, but of course he was alone and when you are alone there’s a limit to the feedback you can get. He said that the other members being there when recording made him feel really safe. (He then bowed to all of them). He also thanked the audience.
He tried to explain the new counting for Tokyo Underworld, but Tooru played this really dramatic music which was terrible for an explanation as he noticed. They finally explained the new furi (Another count) and then started the song.
At the end of the first part Sakito kept throwing stuff at the fans and then decided that it would be really cool to throw his school uniform’s button, he tried really hard to look cool and take it out with his bare hands (bless him) He struggled for a long time before asking his roadie for a pair of scissors backstage.
For the first encore all the members wore the “Sakaguchi” t-shirts. Sakito said that being his bday he wanted to do a cover of Luna Sea “Desire”, because the moment Luna sea performed Desire at Music station was when he decided to become a musician. He sang Desire really well, even if Ryuichi’s voice is really different from his, and he did the Sugizo part perfectly.
Then they were about to Hard Rock song when Niya interrupted and introduced the night’s guest which was Yomi. At the same time the staff brought in a small cake and Yomi came in with a bouquet of flowers and he handed them towards Sakito.
S:Zozzy! Thank you it’s been a while. (Since they had the interview together for Date Otoko in March)
Yomi, being his loud self: I know, Niya called me and the worst is that I had to carry the flowers from the train. That was really embarrasing.
They sang Happy Birthday to Sakito who blew the candles.
Y: Then wait a minute, Sakito. What is this? (He was also wearing the Sakaguchi T-shirt) During Nightmare you were super strict about not using your real name and now it’s in a t-shirt.
He turned towards Niya who was saying yes with the head.
S: But you know it’s all in good fun and it’s ok already.
Sakito pointed out that his mom was also in the audience. And that he doesn’t know her opinion on using his family name on a t-shirt.
Y: You should give this tshirt to all your family and you all get to wear it.
S: That would be a really bold presentation.
Y: Whatever you say Gucchan.
Niya was busy backstage, guess preparing the sake, and then Yomi asked if it was ok to do promotion, because that was the real reason he was there.
Y: On my birthday I’m having a live at Shibuya Womb and you know what people! None of you have actually bought a single ticket! Not you (he was pointing at random audience members) Or you! Or you! You think you are ok just supporting the Sakaguchi side but you should really support all the members specially during their bd...
Then Niya was already giving everybody cups with Sake, while Tooru was really worried he got one.
Y: Sorry, NIYA! NIYA DONT YOU KNOW IM HERE DOING PROMOTION.
S: Is this really Sake?
So they got together at the center and then Sakito drowned the sake in one go. Before that Yomi pointed out Niya had no glass, and asked him to get one but Niya was like “no, no, I cant” And Yomi scolded Ono for it and asked him to give the poor man Sake.
Yomi also told Sakito that they had already sung Desire, but actually Niya asked him if he could practice Desire .
S: Its really not my fault, I didn't know you were coming.
Y: We do it again so I get to sing it, because, I’ve been practicing it. C’mon Guchan let’s go.
S: It’s everybody Ok with the hour? Where do I put myself????
And everybody told him to go to kamite.
So they sang Desire together and during the solo Sakito and Yomi got together at the center platform and for a split second I thought Yomi would really kiss him on the lips but after a second Sakito kissed him on the cheek.
Then it was over and Sakito thanked him for coming, before leaving Yomi saw Niya’s roadie and was all “MEGURO! ITS BEEN SO LONG”. “I know everybody here it’s really like coming home”.
S: He just does as he pleases....
N: He is such a free soul.
They played Hard Rock and Korokke soba and then first encore ended.
For the second encore they all came out rather quickly except Niya who kept hiding behind the courtain.
S: Where you just fooling around now?
N: Me? ... Yes...but its because its a birthday live.
Before leaving the members High-five each other going all “Weeeee” and they also hig-five the audience. So did Sakito.
Before I forget the Nightmare song this time was Boys be. And the second encore song was Jakigan.
I did my best to sum it up, and maybe I have forgotten how some things went and what was actually said.
Vocally - wise the live was superb. the little break between last week lives and this one did his voice wonders.
Then...Sakito was a bit stiff, maybe because of the pressure of being watched by Morrie and other semnpais. I got glimpses of a Sakito I don’t really want back during bday celebration, though.
And it all seemed really rushed, guess Ex-Theater Roppongi has a really strict schedule and he had to finish on time to do the handshake which was exceptionally short.
It was very professional but it lacked the energy that Nagoya had (for me the best live of the ones I’ve been, they even playing Ichishiki there instead of Boys be). It also lacked a bit of the goofiness Osaka had.
Still, I think this tour was better than the last one, and even if this birthday live could not top last year’s one it was a very good live.
Next would be his Dj events and I am expecting a winter tour. I am sure he will announce a new song at this FC Trip next week, and probably some Tabisite news.
I think Sakito forgot to announce this at his tour final because he was overwhelmed with his mother and Morrie being there but he’s having a DJ event tour in September!
While I need to write three live reports (Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo) here have the cutest sign possible. He did the carving on the “eraser” himself. And he had a practice sheet next to him full of tiny pictures and drawings (how cute can you be?).
He was also really amused by my friend who is an obvious Niya fan joining.
So I just got back from karaoke night with Ni~ya basically
Also was severely caught off guard by salaryman Ni~ya suddenly handing me his mock business card (for some reason this thing included two handshakes with Ni~ya which I didn’t know about - the second one was him personally handing over a small bottle of champagne - and a photoshoot but I didn’t buy a ticket for the photo session).
Report during the next few days whenever I can live again (Sakito’s remaining lives are coming up) but
As you’ve probably heard by now Ni~ya is finally going to give solo a try (however that is going to work because he even made himself cringe the whole evening with his attempts at ‘singing’ IT WAS HILARIOUS). The main reason is simply that he was “the only one left”. He also has a Civarize collab coming up and another fan trip. Bless him for going to Chiba which people can afford unlike certain other people who think going to Hokkaido for 2 nights is worth 1300 bucks ahem looking at you Sakito
Anyway, curious to see what that’s going to mean for his role as Sakito’s support bassist, because idk but it would look really weird if everyone did solo but Ni~ya was also support for Sakito with (luckily) no Nightmare reunion in sight
Speaking of, a tipsy Sakito made an appearance around midnight
Hiro and Tooru as well although they seemed considerably more sober (bless their hearts)
