Saying this as someone who is a member of multiple marginalized communities (who isn’t straight either btw) I hope antis/people who take their headcanons as law/people who pick and choose who can have fun and in what ways are going out to vote and educate themselves on the government/government related affairs as much as they spend time on here getting mad at people over self shipping, writing reader inserts and fanfiction in general with non straight characters because I genuinely feel like some of your activism starts and stops at fictional characters. I care much more about what people do to help others irl than I do with how they write about characters they enjoy. I feel like Tumblr (as well as Twitter… which is why I deleted the app) forgets that there are things to be done and things to be educated on outside of fandom. It is disingenuous to say you care about marginalized groups and not do anything to protect them or educate people about them outside of fictional worlds. Like some of you people make anti blogs but have never made a social media account to spread awareness about misogyny, racism, police brutality etc. When I say so many anti proship anti profic anti whatever people don’t actually put in work to protect the groups they claim they are protecting (regardless of if they’re members of said group or not) this is what I mean. I’m not even saying I’m some politician or civil rights leader or whatever like I’m not trying to send you out to the frontlines of a war but some of you are very out of touch with reality and do not put in work to support the oppressed outside of anything relating to fictional characters. Compared to the amount of time you take to harass people over pixels, how much time do you take to help actual human beings that you swear to care so much about?
