Rhysand and IC whenever the situation of Illyrian and Hewn city women is brought up
the only reason i dont regret reading acotar book 3 is the high lord meeting where Tamlin cant keep his mouth shut. he stormed into that boring ass stale party and turned it into his own stand up show.
itās like when you write all the cool clapbacks you come up with at 2AM in your notes so that one day you get to use them but you never do. well Tamlin fucking used all of his clapbacks. he was such a little hater i was literally going feral. yes babe, get it all out of your system, thats the least you deserve.
some of yall in this fandom hate to hear this but not a single lie came out of his mouth. absolutely folded Mr SA, demolished Feyredahling still rubbing her traitorous hands after destroying his entire Court. i was so happy he got to vent. it was a whole TREAT and Tamlin headlined that shit
šš»me and Tamlin both
SJM saying that Rhys is allowed to make mistakes is hilarious to me because nothing he's done in the series regarding Feyre can be categorised as a mistake.
Drugging and SAing her UTM, making her go into the weavers cottage to get a wedding ring, not telling Feyre that they're mates, not telling Feyre that he's going to sacrifice himself, hiding vital information about Feyre's body and pregnancy from her.
All of these are things he has done knowingly while being aware of the risks and damage it causes.
He knew she would be under the influence and still let her get humiliated.
He knew the Weavers cottage could be a life-threatening situation and STILL went through with it.
He knew Feyre wouldn't react well to being his mate and would not react well to him sacrificing himself and STILL kept that from her.
He KNEW Feyre didn't like secrets and decided to keep vital information from her regarding HER body from her and made EVERYONE lie by ommission to keep her in the dark.
None of these by definition are mistakes. And they never have been. He knows what the outcomes will be and still decides to do them.
How many more "mistakes" is he allowed to make in the name of "protecting" those he supposedly loves before he's finally held accountable for the damage he's caused?
Night Court: Spends 500 years running a PR campaign to convince everyone else they're evil
Night Court: Is infamous for its tyranny and debauchery, and also for having the Most Powerful Daemati High Lord Ever as its lord
Night Court: The High Lord willingly serves Amarantha (Hybern's general) for no apparent reason other than to save his own skin (because no one else knows about the secret city he sacrificed the rest of his court to save, after all)
Night Court: High Lord publicly abuses a human girl for months Under the Mountain, in front of all the other High Lords
Night Court: High Lord kidnaps said girl from her wedding to the Spring Lord, she later turns up married to Night with an explanation that definitely doesn't involve mind-control
Night Court: Approaches Summer on the pretext of forging an alliance, betrays and robs them instead
Night Court: Sends formerly human girl as a double-agent to break the Spring Court from within
Night Court: Somehow Just Knew about an imminent attack on the Summer Court, despite no one else getting word. And they definitely don't try to leverage this as capital against their previous offences against Summer
Night Court: Tries to change the time and location of the High Lord meeting at the last minute and strongarm everyone into agreeing to it
Night Court: Causes immediate insult to every other High Lord present at said meeting by insisting they bow to its Lady, because the Night Lord thinks she deserves it
Night Court: Immediately starts talking shit to the other lords about Spring, who has yet to arrive
Night Court: Immediately starts drama with Spring, once he does arrive. Uses magic to choke him quiet when he says things they don't like
Night Court: Refuse to admit responsibility for betraying and stealing from Summer, using their aid in the attack to deflect from it
Night Court: Dodges questions about murdered Winter children and deflects with a sob story when pressed. A former human woman must apologise on their behalf
Night Court: Violently attacks delegates from the Autumn Court not once, not twice, but three times over the course of the proceedings
Night Court: "So, who wants to be our allies?"
.........................
................and then six out of seven fucking hands go up.
Please. Make it make sense.
Feyre, committing war crimes: I am powerful, I am free, iām finally getting revenge, power unleashed! Iām the strongest woman in the universe!
Feyre; when confronted with her actions and the people she hurt: Iām just a girl. Itās not that deep.
Turning YA book selection into purely romance and romantasy needs to be studied, as well as tiktokification of reading. Skipping paragraphs without dialogue, finding simple plots too difficult to understand, not even remotely analyzing the text, ignoring inconsistencies and blindly following trends and what author spoon-feeds the readers, etc. It essentially boils down to wanting to read just porn without saying you want to read porn. Nothing wrong with that, except instead of admitting it, people have turned to doubling down that these objectively bad books are the pinnacle of self-care, progress and being a girlboss.
Iāve seen booktokers on tiktok (before I deleted tiktok) say they ādidnāt getā older booktok books like Cruel Prince, Six of Crows, Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and other good books or had to DNF them because it was too āboringā and "too much politics, no smutā. People have been tiktokified or have never read a book that wasn't romance or YA to begin with, so please go read one. It's good for you to broaden your horizons. Besides, YA never has a lot of politics, it's YA. Not even when YA dystopian books were thriving did it have too much politics.
I'm not shaming anyone for wanting to read smut or smutty books but there is no need to turn YA into just a combination of tropes. YA is an age category, it doesn't need dumbing down or becoming more sexual. There are plenty of smut books in YA, new adult, adult, etc. There is no need to shit on and make good YA books unpopular. Writers are getting hurt because the publishing houses would rather publish same mediocre books over and over with slightly different plot and names than good ones. And teenagers in that age category need to have a variety of books to choose from. Instead, they have the same thing over and over, mediocre smut with problematic undertones. Y'all realize Wattpad exists for that and it's free, right?
āMaking fun of romantasy is misogynistic!ā Bestie your favorite fairy smut has thinly veiled bio essentialism, trad wife propaganda and is also weirdly racist and orientalist.
Gotta say it is really annoying to try n critique romantasy books nowadays bcuz a lot of those are made by people who label romantasy smut as "degenerate filth" or whatever when most of my issues revolve around
1. Plots that make no sense
2. Characters that suck
3. The smut isnt even that good
and 4. The fact that a non-zero amount of these books try to push a "our mc is a total #feminist girlboss!" And that just means shes a dick, uses knives & can quip. Meanwhile the romance portion continues to push the male love interest as extremely overprotective and paternal, who is constantly swooping in and solving all the MCs problems for her. Also shes (small, tiny and Still Very Feminine) and hes (tall, large, the most masc dude to ever masc)
But if you ever try to point out that these books try to label themselves as feminist while still covert/overtly sending rather non-feminist messaging about relationships and gender, you just get told "you hate it when women like things"
how do i explain that my problem with booktok smut isn't that it's smut, it's that it's written for an audience that wants 7582034 iterations of the exact same instant gratification garbage with zero effort or creativity put in. take your enemies to lovers forced proximity magical school competition shadow fairy sex realm spice level trilogy out of here and never come back.
assert your dominance. bite the vampire.

If I was Tamlin and Feyre was crying on the ground in front of me begging me to bring life to the man she basically cheated on me with after she essentially destroyed my entire court omg I would start HOLLERING im sorry ššš
Like Tamlin was humble and respectful but me personally itās my time to shine
Ok but honestly the fact that Tamlin didnāt ask anything of Feyre not to help his land people or court but just said ābe happyā shows how good of a person he is
I wouldāve sat down and started naming all the things I wanted just to rage bait her and then spat on Rhys before I gave the kernel to save his pathetic ass
Tony Stark became the punching bag of the mcu and then they killed him off for funsies
The Maximoff's became hydra operatives? Only because Tony Stark's bomb (not confirmed) killed their parents. So, it's his fault and wendy and paul should never ever face consequences
Aldrich Killian ambushed Tony Stark at a party rather than get a proper interview with him? Its Tony's fault he became a pathetic manchild supervillain with Maya Hansen's help
Ivan Vanko's father was deported for selling American secrets to the soviets and Howard reported it as he should? No, that's Tony Stark's fault.
A sentient, mind controlling alien sceptre kills JARVIS and hijacks the ultron name? Tony's fault only even though Thor and Steve gave permission for Tony to study it and Bruce helped
The accords exist because the Avengers had no oversight or clear leaders after SHIELDRA fell and were leaving more damage behind than saved people and Steve Rogers the paragon of light and virtue and righteousness disagrees and thinks "the safest hands are his own" and goes on a rampage across Europe to save his bestest bud bucky, injuring people, killing them, and causing damage to infrastructure all because zemo's plans hinged on Steve keeping the Starks murders a secret for 2 years? Tony's fault.
Tony lashes out at Steve for keeping his parents assassinations a secret because bucky was the one to kill them while brainwashed? Tony's fault. Tony wants bucky to hurt for it in that very moment of witnessing his parents brutal murders with the weapon right next to him? Irrational and it's of course Tony's fault.
Tony doesn't want to perhaps destroy the world by creating time travel and ruin the life he built in the 5 years since the snap? Selfish and irrational
Tony Stark inherits a weapons manufacturing company from his father and let's his fathers trusted business partner remain CFO because he too trusted him but stane ended up being evil and dealing weapons under the table for more money? Its all Tony's fault he's a war profiteer and murderer
you ever think about how ending of tid is so bitter-sweet because Jem is forced to take a step away from the two people he loves most and watch their lives on the sidelines. and how 130 years later he gets saved by someone who would have never existed if they all had not loved each other so so much, and could never have saved Jem if people hadn't loved him just as much. no adaptation will ever be able to capture this btw.
