You Poppin G
Submission is an art form
Sometimes ugly in its manifestation
But always beautiful
The ways we kneel at each other's feet
Strong spines flexing
To meet
The will. The commands.
The needs.
And how our hands can grip so tight.
Hanging on to be led.
In the spirit of being fed. My mouth opens wide or you.
And these words and ways of being yours drip From my lips.
My hips spread and lift.
Opening softness as you sink in. Passages. Testaments to passionate fulfillments.
My heart pours. Bleeds. Beats.
Emptying to be filled by you.
I believe in WE
Submitting
As if there were nothing left.
Nothing else that mattered.
After we've stretched
The torn fabric of us the only cover we had against dark and cold.
And that can be ugly at times.
But there's something beautiful in being to say MINE.
The Art of Submission
For every rainy day
I try to remain solid
Reciting mantras of shit that's positive
You can only be concerned with the things you can control
And controlling
What's mine.
Taking cards I'm dealt in stride
But when that which I control
Rises up and consumes me
A power that unfolds
Discomforting. Shaking me.
I get stuck
In that rainy day
Drenched
No words to say
I just want to be solid. Unmoved and unnerved by biting winds. Not swept up in the tears of the places I didn't win.
Solid.
The moment I wrapped your initial around my neck
I claimed you as mine
I told everyone. Pointed you out. You that see that fine Negro over there. Yeah that one.
He belongs to God... And then me. Only
And you thought I was playing.
Seeking to scratch an itch. A tickle.
But I been digging you since we was little.
And I didn't have much of a childhood. So playing... I didn't do.
I approached with the seriousness of legally binding agreements.
This ain't no fairy tale. Magical yes.
But ain't no fairies fluttering around sprinkling glitter on our indiscretions, righting our wrongs, moving us beyond Indecision.
We've built on top of some hard learned lessons.
And I smile when I see clearly the ways God kept us.
Protected us.
Cradled us in grace.
Maintained the fabric of us so that even after thousands of days of having not touched your skin I could still be amazed.
Impressed.
Look at you and remember only us.
I'll wear you around my neck. Your name at the center of throat.
You can do the same.
I relinquish that to you. My name.
This is a love story. It has sequels and prequels , epilogues , dedications , footnotes and hidden typos. It’s handwritten. Beautiful calligraphy.
And in it. There’s a beginning.
I claimed you.
That’s it.
Claimed.
Late night at the fair
The ground wet from early afternoon rain
And sticky from fallen cotton candies and spilled soft drinks
Your arm draped around my shoulder
Your finger occasionally tapping my gold hoop earring
And as much as I hate crowds and lines
I look up and see peace in your eyes
Your gaze settled on something forward
Beyond us
Perhaps the light of the carousels
Or maybe the big moon, show stopper of this night
I think to myself this is just fine
Any moment away from the space where anything can go wrong is always right
So I wrap my arm around your waist
Pull you in tight
You look down and there it goes again
Peace
In your smile.
I ask you to win me something.
Any something will do.
But you, relentless in nature. king of hearts.
Already a winner.
Your smile amidst the crowds and lines.
The time just floats by like bubbles popping gently on our faces.
So beautiful I forget to even care
And before you know it we are leaving with the biggest teddy bear there.
Late night at the fair.
Timelines
I'm happy with this timeline.
The one which I've sowed a million mistakes
To reap a harvest of shining beads of grace
The sheer magic of falling in love all over again
Like the first time
But this time a more refined version
Still raw edged
Still me
Still you
But coming back after all this learning
Jumping right into this timeline
Illustrated by the fine lines that crease by my eyes
And corners of mouth
As my smile takes over
I'm happy with it.
Timelines.
Ordinary Love
I want to move the needle with you.
Like magnets gliding against old vinyl. Spitting out smooth yet crackling tones.
Spinning. Spinning. Into a tune.
I want to push the envelope with you.
Risking it all, risking a fall. Boldly standing in the face of fire and Spitting out "our fire is greater." Not blinking in the hot flames.
Our chests out. Our pride the same.
I want to be cliché with a you. A series of ordinary and sweet phrases. They make me blush. You spitting game. I always want to be taken by you.
Everything is quite simple, with you.
Ordinary Love
Selfless
I thought that if i broke my back from bending and compromising. Your fantasizing would find a home and settle on me. When I was whole and joints moved free.
I thought that after you walked over my limp body you would extend your hand to lift me. Holding my head steady.
Supporting my neck like a baby.
I thought if I went every which way you would say and never strayed, grounded at your heels, panting to keep up,
You would hold my hand at the end of the tunnel and walk next to me one day.
I thought if I were my true self and gave all of that self to you, you would feel as if you had ten times the wealth.
Maybe you would thank me for sharing.
And return my gift with just a piece of you. Or perhaps an ounce of caring.
But I was wrong.
You keep taking.
I keep singing broken hearted love songs.
A martyr of myself.
Woe is me. I've lost me in the giving.
To be selfless
In preparation for loss... I just want to live
Loss is a part of this life
That we sign up for once we are spit out
And told to live
In preparation for the one day
That life escapes us
Whether it in the form of our own
Coming to a head and popping
Spreading glittery confetti into the ones who mourn us
Or the other type. The dark kind that suffocates our mind because we thought we had more time to tell them...
In preparation of loss
I just want to say
I will not live a life in which love escapes me
Inadvertently
I will deliver it
Intentionally
I will love you
Relentlessly
And the day life decides to just get up and walk away
You will know
That there was nothing
You did not know
I just want to love you.
