Porsche Mission E
This is Porsche’s answer to the Tesla Model S - a 600hp all electric sports car. It obviously takes styling cues from the 918 Spyder and the 911. Ok, Porsche made an amazing hybrid hypercar, but can the Mission E (I hope they don’t call it that) really beat Tesla? Well, this car apparently has over 331 miles of range and it does 0-60mph in around 3.5s. Porsche also claim that it can charge to 80% in 15 minutes which would equate to about 250 miles of range. If that claim is true then this car could actually be one step closer to the future of cars as we know it.
I mean, in my opinion, the 911 is a dying breed and its fate has come closer with its recent facelift. What I would really like to see is Porsche develop a supercar that can rival the 488 GTB and 650S. Something like a mid-engined supercar with the naturally aspirated V8 from the 918 Spyder. That to me would tick a lot of boxes. Effectively, Porsche could make a petrol version of the Mission E with the above, but that would completely defeat the whole exercise of making its first electric only sports car. But, my logic is this: Porsche will keep continuing to lower and lower the engine sizes of 911s, until it’s a little 4-cylinder engine, but they introduce the Mission E to help it keep within EU regulations, and then they create this supercar I’m talking about, but in limited numbers like McLarens and Ferraris.
