To this day, the most accurate portrayal of a cop I've seen in a movie is Quentin from Cube

Complete authoritarian with little regard for anyone that is by his standard useless or subversive, gets outwardly angry and violent at any sign of a loss of control or power, and in Holloway's words "has a thing for young girls".

The world only works as per his own interpretation of it and the people around him are exactly who he perceives them to be. Everyone else in the Cube is just another person to blame for them being trapped there, he alone is blameless.

He commands that everyone work together, but he becomes the greatest hindrance to any sort of teamwork with his overbearing and aggressive nature.

His will to power comes from his interpretation of himself as perfect and everyone else only as useful as their purpose or "what they bring to the table".

So many cops have this same idea that their virtue of being a cop equates to them being a hero, and everyone else is only as virtuous as their cooperation extends. Then, when they lose that control because they are not, in fact, The Hero™, they become aggressive and even violent, essentially having a tantrum because they can't align their own perception of self with reality.

Honestly at this point I don't know I would welcome Zenos back.

I think he's dead dead.

The ending they gave him is just too perfect, and the original canon via Yoshi-P's mouth is Zenos's final wish was what sent us back to our friends on the Ragnarok. I feel like his death should stick and allow him to haunt the narrative in the same way the WoL still mourns Haurchefant.

We absolutely would not have beaten the Endsinger and saved everything without his aid. And it was all just for Zenos's own selfish desire after he did immeasurable harm to others both in and out of his capacity as the prince of Garlemald. He was not a good person, but he was a hero via his choice to chase us and his words rallied the WoL in their darkest moment.

And, dammit, I want the WoL to forever have to live with that fact, whether the player decides they liked or hated Zenos.

I like to think he was brought up as a character again to force us to compare him to the Winterers. People we have and will confront that do objectionable things for what they think are "heroic" reasons. But also that the Winterers are going to see us as we did Zenos. As someone selfishly doing things for deeply personal reasons despite the suffering it causes.

Which is way cooler.
