- - - a new chapter (@Homura)
"They do." Mami allows with a faint nod. She chooses to omit that they times she has hung out with them can be counted on one hand; Homura may take a bit too much satisfaction in knowing that and the last thing she needed was for the woman to realize that, in the end, not much had changed. Everyone was still too busy for her and she was still a good deal more lonesome than she cared to let on.
"Unfortunately, my classes are streamlined for my major and I don’t have many, if any at all, with them." She adds carefully, lips pursing. "I hadn’t known you even attended this university, to be quite honest… not much of a surprise, I admit."
"Mmm." Again, Homura is not surprised. The fact that the other girls tended to stick together more closely was one that didn't take a whole lot of observational skill to see. She hopes her humming comes off as more interested than bitter.
But, evidently, the majority of what Mami has to say involving her classes is, largely, uninteresting. It had always been hard for the two of them to see eye to eye, but talking to Mami in a setting like this, essentially just small talk about their schoolwork and their social lives...it makes her skin itch in an oddly unpleasant way, and it may be in part because she doesn't know what to expect from this girl. But that last sentence catches her attention.
"Oh? What do you mean by that?" Homura tries to keep the defensive edge out of her voice. She isn't sure how good of a job she did.
