Jack wanted to do something fun like go exploring or have a secret date. No, those were lame things. Maybe like an adventure. No, that was stupid too. How does one have fun in the city? Without getting robbed, or something dangerous like that. The mute slumped back on his park bench and looked up at the sky. Boringgg. There were not clouds out. The boy huffed through his nostrils and decided to watch the people walking by instead.
" Perhaps I should give you something now? " Naoki wasn’t very familiar with relationships either, so he thought he should return the gesture. After all, gifts, no matter what they were, were appreciated by the snake. Taking a moment to take into consideration what could be provided, the serpent let out a soft breath, grabbing onto their hand and tugging them along, bursting out into a run as he lead the other down the sidewalk.
Wait! No! That's not why he had given the snake the gum! It was a thank you gift! He didn't need anything in return! Jack couldn't even try and tell the other that because he was snatched up. Wait! He's not a good runner either! Jack tried to keep up with the snake but it was terribly hard. He was a straight A student not a athlete! He was going to die -- he just knew it. Breathe, Jack, Breathe!
{ ♥ } — No need to feel bad, honestly, Yumita would have still most likely fallen even if there was aid from a helpful hand. Incredibly embarrassed at his blunder, Yumita shook his head to himself, mumbling a small curse. Only then, did he notice a boy standing in front of him who couldn’t be much older than he. Noticing his textbooks and bandages, he felt a small smile crawl onto his face, sheepish, however. “Ah…Thanks so much!” He noticed a scrap on his knee and went to work on cleaning that. Even if the bandages weren’t necessarily cute like most of his, he still stuck it on, enjoying the comfort of having such a trivial thing. Standing up, he peered curiously at the other’s phone, wondering why he was speaking on that but not questioning it. “I’m fine! Especially now with your help.” Honesty, though, without bandages and good distraction, Yumita would most likely be in tears.
Watching the other stand caused Jack to take to his feet as well. He watched the other for a moment before nodding at his words and taking his cellphone back to his person. Jack was mute, sadly. The boy typed out what he wanted to say and held it up for the other boy to read.
"I'm glad. It's no problem though. I'm happy to help."
The mute put his phone away when he was sure that the other had read it and began to pick up the things that had been scattered. It wasn't much and Jack didn't mind it at all. It was the least he could do, really. He should have woken the other up before this had happened. Though, he wasn't sure if he was doing the right thing. What if the other thought he was being pushy or nosy? Sigh. Not knowing about relationships really was the hardest.
Soft orbs eye the others gesture, the delicate tips of his fingers tracing over the small piece of gum. Naoki had never received anything before, but gladly he pulled it gently away from the other’s hands, bowing respectfully, ” Thank you, Jack. I really appreciate it. “
The reaction he got was really embarrassing. The boy didn't usually give others things or even tried to react with them. Jack held up his small hands and shook his head, the blush darkening. He was trying to say that it wasn't a big deal but he was happy that the other seemed to enjoy it. Jack was such a noob at relationships.

When you're mute life wasn't easy. People weren't understanding and they didn't try. The only think that Jack could ever get along with was animals. They didn't care if he was mute; they just wanted to be loved. So Jack was usually a regular at the aquarium just because the animals were a lot easier to get along with. The sea horses, sea snakes and Turtles were probably his favorites. He just liked watching them and he liked picturing what it would be like to be one of them. To be free but then again animals had troubles too. Anyways, the boy was bent down in front of a turtle habitat watching the thing as it was watching him. Staring contest, go!
Saturday morning. There was nothing on T.v, nothing in the fridge, and his mother had a man in her bed. -- Time to go. So, now Jack was sitting in the park on his favorite bench enjoying a smoothie. He wondered what he could get himself into today.
Making people smile is great—too bad he does it unintentionally.
Hands the snake a piece of bubble gum. A present for being so nice to him upon first meeting. Snakes like bubble gum, right?

Oh look. An ice cream stand. Jack wanted ice cream. The boy walked up to the stand and ordered one Vanilla-chocolate swirl but realized it was rather big. He didn't know if he could eat all of it by himself but when the boy turned around and noticed someone else. Hm, wonder if they wanted to share? Two people could share, right? He had two spoons.
While Lotus stood in confusion as both trying to explain what had happened — he slowly regretted the decision to butt in and attempt at stopping whatever ruckus was going between the two. He gave a sigh at the circumstances, nodding to whatever the slightly bigger male was saying, and let his gaze dropped onto the silent voice. Instead of talking, saying stuffs, he was flailing his arms around, pointing at his throat; instantly gave the teacher figure an idea. “Are you — mute?” He asked, then. Maybe that was it, and the other male too shouldn’t be so loud about it because, sometimes people just bumps into you and you just let it go. Why making a big deal out of it. Cue, a lengthy frustration sigh because humanity was depleting.
Finally! Jack nodded his head quickly which was a yes to the question the taller man had asked. He was indeed mute but definitely not by choice but because of the accident that he had went through when he had been much younger. He looked at the new face and tried to explain it was an accident but the man at hand only began yelling at him which didn't give him the time to explain he was mute and that he was sorry. It was frustrating to be looked at like some child and it got even worse when people realized that he couldn't speak. He was just some ant and people just walked all over him.
Lotus, after a very tiring day at school and what not; having to prove his point that X would always and always be equal to Y because nope, apparently it’s the hardest thing in life for these kids and they wouldn’t understand. And they were lucky, math high school level involved tons of fun and calculations, while in college level he’d have to write essays on it which killed every fun of it. But sighing, and yawning, he turned finding a guy being cornered and yelled at by a rather angry man. What now — Pondering about, he’d decided to be the hero for the day, and stalling his time in going back home was always the best thing to do anyway. “What’s wrong?” He butted in as he came and approached the two.
The man's attention was shifted to the other man that had butted in, he proceeded to explain that Jack had bumped into him and wouldn't apologize. Well, Jack was trying to explain but he had left his phone at home and the man wasn't giving him the time to actually explain the only way he could, silently. Jack turned toward the taller man and pointed at his throat, and shook his head. He couldn't speak. Was it that hard to understand or notice? He was a mute -- maybe he should start wearing a sign around his neck that said he had a handicap. He turned his attention to the man that was fuming and tried explaining to him too.
Jack has run into trouble again. He wasn't paying attention and bumped into someone, now they were yelling at him to apologize. What was he suppose to do? Now, they're getting pisser because he won't answer! Someone help!
{ *❧ - Unlike a certain someone, Kyle loved school. Optimistic as ever, he approached each day and every challenge head on with his chin held high, just like always, so he had no trouble with going and getting through the long seven or more hours. In fact, it was quite rare to see Kyle without a smile or calm expression on his face. His fellow students had this funny little daily routine, one consisting of both positives and negatives, both of which he took in stride with a healthy heart and clear mind, never really bothered or swayed by much, even those who liked to take their jealousy or dislike out on him. Kyle knew how to handle himself, and so he knew how to handle others in turn.
It certainly did not feel like the beginning of the week to Kyle. Usually Mondays and Tuesdays dragged on for longer than preferred, but today-almost felt like Thursday. Kyle honestly didn’t mind either way. A day is a day. For seniors, their class hours were slightly different than the others, especially depending on clubs. For Kyle, who spent more time in the kitchen than an actual class room, he was still hard at work when the lunch bell rang. Some students filed out after cleaning up their stations and hanging up their aprons, giving Kyle happy good byes and see you laters. He, along with three others, however, remained behind, continuing to cook.
With the room door open, the scent of sizzling beef, spices, and garlic wafted through the school halls, making many mouths water. Fully clad in his light blue apron, Kyle stood in front of a large stove, powdery brown bangs clipped out of his eyes while skilled hands worked diligently at the slices of meat cooking in the iron pan. God did Kyle love cooking. It was such a relaxing-not to mention fun- hobby, able to still the mind so quickly. Eating was also a very exciting factor, of course.
Kyle had been talking among his fellow club members while they worked when he saw a flash of movement near the door. Nothing of a surprise there, usually students-mainly girls-liked to bunch near the threshold and watch them cook almost every day; but what caught Kyle’s eye is not them, but the boy peeking subtly through behind them. Though slightly familiar, it’s his expression that steals Kyle’s complete attention. Why does he look so sad? Handing the reigns-or rather, spatula-over to another member, Kyle quickly washes his hands and excuses himself from the room, trailing after that lone boy for reasons even he does not know.
Kyle finds him about to head up to the roof, which is slightly surprising seeing as no one really goes up there anymore. “Um, excuse me-!” he calls out, long legs bringing him closer and closer until he’s able to tenderly capture the other’s shoulder. “I am so sorry to disturb you, but-I saw you looking into the culinary club’s room just now and was wondering if, maybe, you’d like something to eat? Many students tend to do that lately~”
As the boy was sitting down he realized that he had been followed. He had totally spaced out and didn't realize until the boy had spoken which was accompanied by a hand on his shoulder. Jack really needed to stop spacing out because now he was being bothered by someone he didn't want to speak to. Simple curiosity had caused him to look into the kitchen and nothing more. He didn't want friends or even someone to talk to. Not like he could -- but you get what he means. He just wanted to be left alone so he could finish school and never see these people again. He didn't even know what he was going to go into. Everything required a voice. Something he didn't have.
Jack removed his cell phone and typed out what he needed to say. He couldn't keep the boy waiting and he surely didn't want to. He wanted the other gone as quickly as he had come. Deep inside, he longed for company but after being rejected by a classmate-- he gave up on any type of bond other than his blood bond with his mother. The woman was kind and loved him but she was running herself into the dirt with guilt. Every time she looked at Jack or got on to him for not answering fast enough -- the woman looked like she was going to shatter. The mute held up his phone and it read;
I only looked because I was curious not because I was hungry. I don't want anything to eat and I surely don't want to go into the kitchen. You can go away now -- there's nothing here for you. Plus, you'll lose your friends if you're caught with me. So go away.
It wasn't meant as rudely as it sounded. Jack just didn't want any trouble and he wasn't hungry or at least that's what he told himself. The boy just wanted to sit up here and take a nap -- possibly skip his next class. It wasn't like his teacher actually looked for him anyway. No one did. If he wasn't the kid that everyone picked on then no one would even know he existed. Jack wondered if he could change schools but then again it would probably be the same anywhere else and he didn't need new jerks. He was just fine with the ones he had to deal with now. Being bullied was a full time job now a days.
" You’re another delicate soul, aren’t you? Your voice stripped from you, and you seek a way out I imagine. Those without way of communication often do don’t they, " Dropping his hand down to his side, grey hues gazed directly at them from behind illusion creating mirrors, " Do not be so timid, because while it graces you, it ‘causes others to view you as weak. I see a strong heart in you, and it’s better to let others see it as well. I know not of the horrors you deal with every day, but I can speak from my own heart when I say…you’re yet another wonderful stranger I have come to meet. I shall never regret meeting you, please, I would like you to give me your name. "
Jack listened but he was unsure what to type in response. Sure the others words were kind yet held constructive criticism but he couldn't just waltz up to him and tell him what to work on. Those things took time and some of them took another to help it bloom. The boy didn't know if he even wanted to comment on the things that had been said to him. It wasn't every day that he ran into someone so smart and so..dignified. Wonderful? Never regret? Ha. Jack almost wanted to make a face but he didn't because that would be rude. The dark headed boy would get tired of him -- it was a fact -- Jack had been through it. At first his voicelessness wasn't a problem but after a while, people got sick of it and wanted something more. Something Jack would never be able to give them. Anyways.. he typed out;
I'm Jack.
