Christmas fun with some @lego that has been on the todo list for a long time. 3.5hrs spent happily building while watching #appollo13 in the background and drinking a cheeky @tinworksbrewery beer. 20 Years ago today i was in Turkey. I was 21 and life was very different. I was on a day trip to Turkey as part of a holiday. I can still picture it so vividly. I was in a Turkish delight shop getting gifts for people and in the corner of the room was one of those big old #sony rear projection tvs you would find in pubs etc. There was a family crowded round it, fixated on what was on there. I glanced at the screen and saw some jumpy news footage of what looked like the twin towers on fire. I thought to myself, the twin towers are fireproof, it can't be them. That night i found a bar & ordered a drink and sat at the bar with many others in silence watching the news reports to find out what had happened that morning in New York. I remember seeing names continuously scrolling across the bottom of the screen of victims. Scrolling almost indefinitely. I scanned in this image (source unknown) from a double page spread of a newspaper, in a way to archive it for the future for some reason. But I'd never done anything with the image though as I thought it wasn't right to, So it stayed on my HD until now. Hopefully using it now will pay tribute to the thousands of people who sadly lost their lives and were affected by it. I will always think back to that day when I see a film or an episode of friends where the New York skyline is featured, pre 9/11. I finally got to go to #NYC in 2010 and made a point of going to the site of the former twin towers - it was before the Memorial Pools that are there now were constructed so we didn't get very close. For me it was one of those moments in my life at that point, that i think will be with me forever and felt i had to go while i was so close. Other images are from that fab trip where i proposed to my wife at the top of the Empire State Building and she said yes! (I havenāt stated any facts or figures, or discussed the military events that followed this terrorist attack, Purely as thatās for someone else who knows more about it to discuss. This is purely my memories of the event and how theyāve stayed with me). https://www.instagram.com/p/CTrUWlIgDnd1EEtjn7_Ry9sRnbb3RuHSnDmRxU0/?utm_medium=tumblr

On this day... one year ago... I began working from home, which at the time I believed would be a temporary measure. I actually didnāt think that it was possible to close down the country like China had in Wuhan. Little did I and all of us realise this was going to be for the long haul. Lockdown birthdays and lockdown home schooling have all come and gone. I still have my makeshift desk, but now I have a window and a different house from when I was a year ago. Itās been a bit crazy to say the least. Missing the office and all the people i used to share that with but loving wearing shorts all the time rather than just fridays. Who knows what will happen going forwards but fingers crossed thereās some light at the end of the tunnel. #lockdown #lockdownlife #lockdown2021 https://www.instagram.com/p/CMhKkf-gyZbOBdWTO-SWwU6zXpfYD6N0i6IK8M0/?igshid=1lpdrtin4eozk

Lovely fresh daffs on the windowsill. Brightens up the place and makes me think we need more greenery in the house! Need to plan some houseplants for when itās ok to go and browse in shops again. https://www.instagram.com/p/CLGqhMjgk2mUNxUwjjGe7UB7mQMTSxaFJ-ga-s0/?igshid=1obvi2sk4qyii
This is amazing, the possibilities are endless with this and potentially could erect houses in a fraction of the time of traditional construction!
Today marks week number 12 Iāve been working from home during the Corona pandemicļæ¼. Iāve been working from home since the 18th March 2020ļæ¼ & the last three months on one hand have flown by and on the other hand seem to have dragged.ļæ¼
I thought many times about blogging during lockdown or even just trying to document whatās happening, so that we can look back in years to come and remember āthose were crazy timesļæ¼ā but in all honesty I havenāt had time. Being at home I seem to have less time than I had before, maybe thatās because there is no morning and afternoon commute to work to break up the day maybe the routine of sorting the kids l, sorting the house, trying to do jobs in the house all merge into one.ļæ¼
I will make more effort to document these strange times wether photographically or by text.
