My headcanon of Angel dust

Angel killed his father and somehow Molly got involved and injured or lost her life, and because of that Angel has extra guilt and thinks himself as a terrible person.

When alive, Angel fell in love for wrong person who was also abusive and manipulative. He suffered from not only his family but also this. It might be related to killing his father and all or might not.

Angel's father was homophobic and never accepted Angel as he was, and pushed him to be a 'man' and a 'real' family member.

Molly was the only one supporting Angel.

Val was being good to Angel at first, which made Angel fall for Val, and made a deal exchanging soul and protection from his family in hell (or whatever contract.)

I got an impression that Angel is a very caring and loving person who has lots of love to share. He just never got right circumstances, right person for romantic relationship. His main struggle now is being trapped, and seems like escaping from it may achieve freedom. But I guess his true motivation would be love: To be accepted, to love freely, and be loved. Unless this is fulfilled he'd still struggle.

Angel is craving for love, and this is one of the reasons he can deal with being a porn star, which is killing him at the same time.

Angel has toxic dependency cuz he's too used to it so he finds it comfortable, and he doesn't think he deserves more.

Cutting drug and addiction would be hard for Angel, because he has low self control which in this case is related to low self-esteem.

Recovering from his trauma would take a long time because recovery isn't instant.

He'll need someone to stay with him during those times and more.
