TYPES OF DRIVING LICENSES IN INDIA

Getting a learner's license is the first step towards getting a permanent Driving License. A candidate can apply for learning license online or offline without waiting in a queue at RTO.
This license is valid for six months. It signifies that you are required to polish your driving abilities within this time span. After 30 days of getting a learner's license candidate can apply for a permanent driving license. To apply for a permanent license, one needs to pass the learner's license test successfully.
After getting your learner's license, you should not drive alone. A mature driver should always accompany them.
PERMANENT DRIVING LICENSE
Obtaining a permanent driver's license implies that the RTO is assured about the applicant's driving abilities. Your age must be at least 18 years to apply for your permanent license. In addition, you are required to have a learner's license.
The permanent license will be issued in the form of a smartcard containing the candidate's personal information, such as name, DOB, photograph, address, signature, and the type of vehicle you had applied for. The smartcard also has a chip placed on it that contains the biometric information of the candidate.
COMMERCIAL DRIVING LICENSE
The next type of license is a commercial driving license. This license allows a driver to drive heavy vehicles that are used in public transportation to transport goods or people. Getting a commercial driver's license is follows the same procedure as getting a driver's license for private vehicles. To apply for this license candidate must be passed at least Class 8. The age limit of the applicant is differed according to the rules of different Indian states.
The driver is required to get trained from government institutes or state-sponsored specialized training institutes to drive heavy vehicles. There are strict laws about issuing this license in India because of safety concerns.
INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE
An international driving license that allows you to drive a vehicle in a foreign country. If you have an Indian driving license, you can apply for an international license. To get an international driving license, you need to submit documents such as a valid passport and visa, along with an application fee of RS.1000. Once you get an international driving permit, you can drive in other countries. The validity of an international driving permit is one year. As it gets expired, you are required to renew it.

Motorcycles without gear (with a capacity of up to 50cc) -
The candidate must be at least 16 years old and must have the parent or guardian's approval if he is under 18. The applicant should be aware of general traffic rules. The applicant must have adequate age proof and address proof.

Commercial Heavy Vehicles and Transport Vehicles -
The applicant should have completed at least the 8th standard. The age limit of the candidate is varied as per the rules of the Indian state government.
General Requirement - The candidate must be familiar with traffic rules. The candidate must have valid address proof and age proof documents.
