@cloudyskymuses
Phoenix is looking back, wondering why he's been staring at him for a log awkward moment. "...Edgeworth?"
"..."
"You have toilet paper hanging out of your pants."
He's judging you, your life choices, your entire bloodline, your DNA.
Badge? Oh, this guy was a cop. Well, fuck him then! That was quite enough prompting for Worth to mention the need a search warrant and start closing the door.
But Mr. Miles Edgesworth sure wasn't dressed like any officer or detective that had ever darkened Worth's door.
...Prosecutor's office?? This guy was a...
"Now wait a minute!" He actually took a step back so he could point at this bastard with his WHOLE arm. A slight breeze kicked up out of nowhere, ruffling the fur on his chest. "If yer from a prosecutor's office, wouldn't that make you a lawyer?? This ain't even yer job!"
"This is part of my job," he sighed. There was always one person who thought they knew it better than he did. "Right now, we are just gathering preliminary information. I'd prefer not to bring in a team of detectives at this point." He framed it as though he was fearing for the man's mental state. In reality, he knew that if he walked around with a bunch of police officers, nobody would speak to him in this part of town. Instead, they were staked out nearby in a seemingly abandoned van. "But if you know anything, it would be helpful if you answered some questions for me."
Listen, his looks had been messed up even before he got hit with a magic spell. It was like sticking cute cat ears on a trash can.
He plucked the photo out of the man's hand and held it up close to his face. "Hmmmm." He recognized the woman immediately but tried to keep his face impassive. Tried not to give any indication that someone that looked just like her had come in earlier that day, with injuries that definitely could have been defensive wounds. A stab to the shoulder. Cuts on her hands.
And now some overdressed, deadly serious man was looking for her? Oh no. Absolutely not.
"Who wants to know? Mr. Cravat." He spat out the word with a little more suspicion than before, and pressed the picture back against the man's chest. "There's somethin' called 'doctor-patient privilege', yanno."
"I am Miles Edgeworth," he took the photo back and displayed his badge. "I'm here from the Prosecutor's Office, and we have reason to believe that this woman may have been the victim of a crime. The attacker is still at large." He was going out on a limb, but he had reason to believe that this man knew the victim, so he decided to play on it a little. "Any shred of information could help us bring them to justice."
@myfrillspaythebills
Ya look jus' a LITTLE too fancy to be in this part of th' city.
They're supposed to be puttin' on Hamilton down at th' community college; maybe yer late for th' play? Unless, of course, ya managed to get blood on yer fruffly-ruffly lil' shirt... in which case you'd be in exactly th' right place.
"Oh. Yes. I've never heard that before. Very creative."
Miles seemed to be judging this guy's very DNA. His very addled DNA, from the sight of him. "It is a cravat, for your information. And I'm not here for fashion advice, I'm here to confirm your relationship with this woman."
And he held out a photograph of her. She was apparently from these parts, but whether this was just another dead lead was up to chance.
"I hear you spoke to her today."
@xen1o
"..."
Miles didn't expect to see another kid in this section!
As usual, his father was litigating across the street, and Miles was entertaining himself in the library. Today he was interested in the ethics of scientific research and experiments. He was reaching for a text when he saw the other boy, and Miles was so shocked that all he could do was gawk at him! Very rude.
Kaneda sighs.
"Why do you care? It doesn't involve you. She can take care of herself, and I can take care of myself, and her. When and if he finds out, we'll deal with it."
"Seeing as she is my sister, I am involved. And let's not mince words. You've got quite a rap sheet. I looked it up. You don't have any felonies just yet, but these misdemeanors can add up. And he has quite the sway over the legal system. This dalliance could be an excuse to put you away forever. Did you consider that?"

Something funny and cursed
I heard the name "Petronella" today and I was like
You know...Miles would consider calling his daughter that lol. Maybe not a first name. He is smart after all. But a middle name. And he could be talked out of it.
He would also consider Diana. That he might actually push for.
And of course, there is the option to honor his father Gregory via her name.
I could see him hearing the name "Gregoria" and thinking "that sounds like a friend of Godzilla's". So maybe something close to that like Grace or Gretchen or something lol
On an even more cursed level he names her after his favorite Steel Samurai actress...
"He couldn't sniff out a fart if it came out of his own ass," Kaneda sneers, rolling his eyes. As if he'd run-- yeah, run right headlong into Karma's stupid ass, as far as the teen is concerned.
"What do you plan to do when he does find out?" Miles pressed. "Again, if he hasn't already. Do you know what you're dealing with? I'm going to go out on a limb and say no."
@myfrillspaythebills
Lisa Lisa smiled before extending her left hand so the dog could get a better sniff. "She's adorable." She told him. "I wouldn't mind looking at some photos."
"Thank you," Miles felt his chest swell up with pride as he dug out his Steel Samurai wallet and displayed five professionally shot photographs of his dog, complete with backgrounds and editing. "Here you are. What do you think?"
"Huh? Oh, no sir, I think you misunderstood! It's just… been a while since I've been here. Time sure does fly, haha…!"
Laughing uneasily, Fulbright can't help but shrink back. So often does he receive odd looks these days… Is it really that difficult to see him as, well, himself?
It's one thing after another, he swears...
"You're… Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth, right? W-were you not informed…?"
He narrowed his eyes; that voice was definitely familiar, too.
"Informed of who you are? No. I don't believe I was. Who are you?"

More replies are coming later~!
I know I owe a few o v o
"Ah, Miles, it wasn't my intention to dredge up such unpleasant memories." He rarely ever spoke of his family, outside of Franziska and Maria, and speaking about his father only ever seemed to sour the mood.
Though in all honesty, Oboro was curious about the late Lord Gregory, and why there was almost no documentation about him other than he opposed Manfred.
"I just, sometimes think about them, mother and father, would they be proud of the woman I've become? Have I lived up to their expectations? I wish I could have brought you to meet them, I'm sure they would have loved you."
"And I'm sure that they would be proud of you," he reassured. "Perhaps I'm being presumptuous, but I believe that you've been...dutiful. Really." Hopefully she understood what he was trying to say, that she was a resilient and devoted and kind and talented woman that anyone would have been proud to have raised. But that was too difficult to say.
@juxpoz
"What the--!"
Miles whipped around, then tore back his shower curtain; he could have sworn he saw another man's face in the bathroom mirror!
Maybe his mind was playing tricks on him. He'd heard stories about this place. But ghosts weren't real, he told himself. He just needed some sleep, that was all. Warily, he continued to floss his teeth...
