A: PARENT, FTM, EX CHURCH LEADER I want a church where an openly trans/queer guy like me can find community centered around the social principles of the New Testament. Where being a leader of the church and being a member of the LGBT+ community are not mutually exclusive. Where members are free to express their faith, even when they question it.
GENDER FLUID FAMILY: THE WAY GOD MADE ME I want a church where a person like can come to church with my spouse as male or female, with our child. Where my spouse can, in male or female form, be a full parent to our child, and a full spouse with me. I want a church where binaries do not exist, and where everyone can be who God made them to be, and be declared good, normal, and part of the way the world was made. I want a church that welcomes my family in our bigenderedness as part of the creativity of God, and largeness of creation.
LUCY B: EXTROVERT, OVER-THINKER, DREAMER, OUTSPOKEN, EMPHATIC I want a church where an outspoken Latina feminist like me can show up and feel like I belong. I want a church that is truly welcoming of all people. A "come as you are" church where we can all grow together. I want a church that is active in social justice work, and where love, tolerance, and acceptance are practiced, not just spoken of.

I want a church where a Trans, Gender Queer person like me can not just be "tolerated" and / or "affirmed" but celebrated and seen as a reflection of the Divine Creator and necessary part of envisioning heaven on earth. Glitter, spikes, deviance and all. I want a church where I can mourn the murdered humans filling the streets in the name of "God". I want a church where Jesus' message is actually used to challenge our personal lives and our relationship to Empire, money and capitalism and not used to justify our relationship with empire, money and capitalism. I want a space to invite the holy fool, the radical spirit that consumes and the anger that is just and calls for liberation of our humanity.

I want a church that leaves space for me to fall into the depths of grief and urges me to come racing back to the resistance that my body yearns for.

I want a church where you don't have to look like me to have people tell you how loved you are in the eyes of God.
#MyKindaChurch would be one where questions, doubts and uncertainties about religion would be welcomed, not condemned as a lack of trust/faith in God or betrayal. One which doesn't see science or philosophy or independent thought as an enemy or something that must be subverted or controlled but one of God's gifts. One that recognizes the shades of gray in the world and doesn't try to fit people into boxes. One where the leaders don't treat most congregants like children who must believe blindly and never question, but acknowledges honestly that they don't know everything. A church that doesn't censor, but trusts that God's truth will win out in the end. A church where "do not judge" and "love one another as yourself" is truly practiced and strived for. And a church that uses that love and grace to make connections, even with people outside the church community of different religions or opinions, not to draw lines to keep themselves separate and "special" while keeping others out.

I want a church where a leftist like me can work to make our community better for everyone.
When I was a child, I went to a weeknight youth group because my parents wanted me to have a community and a place to belong. We played together and also memorized verses. Being quite inquisitive, like most children, I liked to ask the adults, "what does this verse mean?" I was always told that I was "too young" to understand or that it "wasn't important." As if simply knowing the words instead of living them was enough. Eventually I grew so frustrated with these answers that I stopped going.
Now that I'm older, I'm disappointed that I continue to see so many people in the Christian church who "know the words" and think that's enough. I look at our political leaders who say they act in the name of God but don't live his words. I see so many people who can recite verses word for word and still believe that wealth is God's way of blessing them, that the rich and their money should be worshiped, that we should hate the poor and those who are different from us. Knowing the words is not enough.
I want a church that lives the words of the oppressed, persecuted brown man who stood up an unfair empire and fought for the poor. I want a truly radical church that lives the words.
And whether I ever begin to believe again I would help those who belonged to a socially just church because I believe in social justice. I believe in a community that lifts each other up. I believe that we can live the words.

Native Sioux Indian; Loving Mother; History Ethusiast; Lover of God's Beautiful Creation As a Native American Christian myself, I want a church where I can be able to celebrate my Native Spirituality along side my Christian spirituality. Which is how I grew up being able to integrate both, thanks to my parents and grandparents. I want to a church that is not afraid to celebrate the culture of ALL its members and not just the dominate culture and actively finds ways to do that. I want a church who doesn't just talk about being welcoming but is truly inviting and it doesn't feel forced because they want more people of color to feel better about themselves. I want a church where I don't feel like a number to fill a quota. I want a church who's leadership is not hand picked and truly representative of ALL and is willing to speak up and be inviting to ALL.

I want a church where a family like mine can have space without feeling guilty. I want my child with neurodiverse sensory and activity complexity to be allowed to ask to have the music turned down, and to not have to sit still for a whole service. I want a church where we can be late without being judged because getting out of the house is so hard. I want a church where a differently-abled person like me could lay down, or sit in a bean bag chair, or even in a recliner so that physically being in church wasn't so painful. I want a church where a family like mine doesn't have to prepare so well and do much work and take so much pain medicine and wear so many back, knee, and ankle braces, and bring so many headphones and blankets and sensory toys just to belong and pretend to be typical, and have to work so hard not to disrupt others. I want a church where a family like mine can show up, be in whatever state we're in, and be included.
I want a church where a single, female, introverted demisexual in her 30s like me can find a community, a real true community, instead of being sidelined because I do not conform to "standard." I want a church where I am not constantly asked why a nice girl like me doesn't have a boyfriend yet or be treated like I'm just in some kind of "holding pattern" until marriage. I want to be treated as a valid adult instead of being lumped in with children or shoved off to a "singles group" led by someone who got married at 22. I do not want matchmaking. I want a church where marriage is not an idol, where singleness is not a "problem". And most of all, I want a church that is focused on social justice instead of petty rules, that isn't afraid to ask the hard questions and discuss deep topics. I want a church that welcomes everyone equally and actively tries to improve what it gets wrong. I want a church excited and active about its mission to love and help the world.
I want a church where I feel comfortable saying that I feel left out, where people believe that my problems are real, because I desperately want back in but I left because I felt invisible and unheard...and therefore, unwanted.
