Healing with Witchcraft:
Trauma is something that’s incredibly hard to deal with, and incredibly hard to heal from. It’s a continuous journey that many of us work on every day. Things that happened to us in our past will follow us into our future, and all we can to is maintain and make them better. That said, there are some ways that our craft can alleviate what we’ve been through and aid our healing processes.
Keep in mind that what I experienced as a child (emotional abuse, and watching instances of physical abuse) won’t be the same as everyone elses, but I do hope that my methods of dealing with my experiences can help.
A lot of my issues are manifested in my extreme anxiety, so I’ll mainly be talking about how I manage those. These are things that work for ME, and if you don’t feel in the position to do them, then don’t. Im not a mental health professional.
This also isn’t very long, but you guys asked me to put together whatever I do, even if it’s just a small amount! So here I go!

Bonding with nature: This may be incredibly cliche, and even “non-witchy”, but removing myself from a situation has always helped me. Whether it’s a toxic atmosphere in the house, or remembering instances that upset me, separating myself from the situation has always helped.
Removing yourself from a situation, be it mentally or physically has given me time to think, recollect myself, and look at new ways to approach the situation. Being in nature only makes this better for me, because I consider myself a witch that draws energy from nature.
If you are a witch that works with a specific element, I recommend that you retire to your specific element.
Crystals: Using crystals to manage my anxiety and occasional depression has helped. It isn’t a permanent solution, but gemstones and their vibrations work on my energy and thus balance them. I’ve shared a meditation here, where you use gemstones to cleanse your energy (or chakra points as some of you might call them)!
During these meditations, I typically work through past traumas. And this is entirely my method and may not work for the rest of you, but when I get incredibly anxious and repeatedly think of an event that scarred me, reliving it via meditation and calming myself down often helps. Take deep breaths, while holding a gemstone grounds me. And I find myself able to walk through an event. It prepares me for when I’m anxious again.
My go-to gemstones for this is smoky quartz!
I would advise you not to walk through past traumas if it is not recommended by a mental health professional, or if it is not something that will help you. Again, this is a method I use, but it can be potentially dangerous and triggering for someone else.
Spirit work: Finding a spirit to speak to and ask for help really helps. Even if you can’t necessarily see it, learn to recognize signs of its presence. I have a post on how to communicate with spirits here, and I recommend that you also contact your SPIRIT GUIDE. Contacting an unfamiliar spirit when your upset isn’t always the best idea, so work early on establishing a relationship with your guide.
Other options would be ancestors or guardian angels.
misc:
meditation is another method you can use. I’ve spoken to great lengths about it, so I won’t elaborate too much.
Lastly, I would recommend journaling!

So yeah that’s pretty much all I have! As I start getting further into the mental health field, I’ll start working on combining my practice and techniques I’ve learned.
