Nico became furious with her, like she suspected he would, though she did not expect the use of her actual first name. Hearing it come out of his mouth sent a sharp pain into her chest, one she was not expecting, as he always called her 'dove' or variations of a nickname. She always referred to him as Nico because she loved saying his name. However, this situation was entirely different.

Slight tears welled up in her eyes as he went off on her, his emerald gaze burning with anger. And it was warranted, perhaps. The emotions were running high between them and he was on one too many truth potions, but his words still shocked her nervous system. She could not recall Nico ever speaking to her that way... and she was feeling extra vulnerable having done what she did just now. He had turned and broken the fall as she collapsed and was now furious with her as she sprawled atop him.

The woman I love.

That cause her brain to come to a screeching halt, her eyes widening as he continued to scold her relentlessly. However, Astra had not heard a single word past that point, the same phrase echoing in her mind over and over again. There was no way - but then again, he was under three doses of a truth serum.

Astra could not recall a single time Nico had expressed that he liked her beyond friendship during their time at Hogwarts. Girls were falling for him left and right at every turn and Astra had valued her friendship with him far too much to make a move. She was also shy beyond measure and had worked hard to build up her confidence over the last year at Hogwarts. However, Nico had never looked at her like.... like the way he was looking at her now. Passion, anger, desire, helplessness. It was all swirling within those emerald hues like a storm.

Somewhere in this moment, she heard Elysia walk out of the room, no doubt to report Nico's admission about Mel being married to Elysia's brother... and the revelation she heard just now from him. Sometimes she saw Elysia wear a ring on her wedding finger, but then other days it was gone. Though she wondered how she would react to Nico revealing what he did.

Her focus was not on that dilemma right now.

"You love me?" She asked quietly. It wasn't platonic, she understood that much. Nothing about this was platonic at all. Her gaze bore into his, not caring that her body was in pain, though the weakness took over, causing her to rest her head against his chest, inhaling his scent. "Since when?" She asked, having reached her limit of her ability to look him in the eyes, sniffling a little as she fought back the tears.

She was resting, she was atop the one man she'd been crazy about since she knew what romantic feelings were, and she wanted answers from him.

nico  contavius     ...    ▇▇▇    he hadn't planned, for his anger to come out so viciously and abrupt. not when he was normally one who was so unaffected by such a thing. his buttons to trigger that being so hard to press. but he had seen her the moment she walked into his prison cell, the tiredness bleeding from her. the way her body was suffering the effects of stripping his baby brother of his mark. which given oli had never truly given into its influence, his sunshine nature protecting him from the darkest parts of it. spoke volumes on the stress she'd endured. and why he had been determined, that his mark wait for now. that she recover some of the strength she lost before taking his on. given he had given in, simply to manipulate it better than oli did. but of course, he had forgotten how fucking stubborn his dove was. how determined she could become when she set her mind to something. and she had proven as such. thus the emotions swirling within him, had escaped him shrouded in anger, before he could stop himself. before he could bite them back into his mouth where they belonged. [   where he could deliver them with a softness he was more known for.  ]  he is also aware, of the implication of his words. of what he had let slip, but also how he had dropped his usual nickname. the name he spoke with reverence and care, no matter its variations. a clear sign of not only how his anger had coiled like a venomous snake, striking at the heart of her with his worry. but also his carelessness as he gives into such emotions. as he wasn't blind, he could see the moment, the hurt flashed along her face. cutting through her gentle gaze, and he was almost positive a lash had ripped itself open upon his heart. hate coiling in his gut at seeing her hurt, and knowing he was the reason. after everything he has done to protect her, to know he is the one that causes her pain now. was a knife in his heart and proof, he really was a bastard at times.

❛   i do dove, i love you !!   ❜ he murmurs softly: feeling the tendrils of his anger dissipate. rendered to dust, as his jade green eyes look at her tired ones. her body laid out over his. his large hand instantly going to her hair where he begins to run his fingers through in a soothing motion. the stress of everything was pressing against his chest like a persistent weight. and he felt crushed beneath it. but the war wasn't over yet, nor was the one he had unintentionally caused. and even as he looked at her, wanting her to close her eyes and sleep. he knew it wasn't over, that she would have a thousand and one questions that he needed to answer. explanations he needed to give, as he'd opened the door to them all. sighing softly. he brings his free hand up and runs it through curly hair. ❛   since first year more or less. but i couldn't do anything with it, i knew what klarick was planning for us all. and then seeing what he did to mel, because of her love. i knew i had to hide it. protecting you by lying about how much you meant to me was the only option i had ...   ❜ he shrugs, knowing it made no sense to anyone but him. or to ones who had seen the damage klarick had done to elias. as he was sure she had. still the weight of his admission sits between them. coiling like another snake waiting to strike. but whether this bite was filled with poison or hope, was to be determined. [   and one would think getting his dark mark removed would make his life easier. apparently not. ]  a burning sensation, brings his attention to his neck. subtly he presses upon the hidden mark with his free hand. the hidden mark, that connects all of them minus klarick together. instantly allowing him to feel his sister through the connection. his mind showing with ease that she was on the move, as he figured she would be. but was also sending him a subtle request to see if he was okay. having no doubt felt his anger. sending her reassurance that he was okay, and to move mom as they planned. before he shuts down the connection to focus on astra, and what was happening. ❛   sleep little dove, we'll talk more when your strength is back !!   ❜

The first time he had seen Ellie in over 2 decades, it was as if someone had pierced his heart with a sword and twisted it. They'd been 16 and speaking of a future together and very much in love... and then it disintegrated into nothing and his heart turned to stone.

Truly, Cyrus had not smiled for years following his time at Hogwarts, choosing to spend the next 10 years working his way up the Ministry of Magic and political power to finally become a Minister. However, sometime during those ten years, a baby with sapphire hues was dropped at his doorstep, which had changed the course of his life forever.

Truthfully, he did not know how he would have gotten through the past few years without Loukas at his side. He'd grown up to be a fine son, but also Cyrus' only beacon of light that fuelled his need to end this war once and for all. And it finally had come to an end.

The city was partially destroyed and the battle left many casualties in its wake, but Cyrus had ended Klarick's life once and for all. He winced slightly as he walked down the hallway of his home, clutching his side briefly and slowing his pace as he breathed in deeply and waiting for the pain to subside. The battle did not come with no injuries to himself. He was heavily advised to take it easy as both Minister of Magic and London's new hero. However, he needed to see --

He swung open the door to see the one person he ached for since he stepped upon platform 9 3/4 and set his grey eyes on. It was as if time had stopped at that moment for a brief second before she tore her gaze away and looked at her feet. It caused his brows to furrow. "I'll take it from here, Astra," Cyrus said calmly, nodding at her before she departed.

"Minister?" He arched a brow. "I'm currently known as Cyrus the Great for taking down Klarick and ending his reign of terror," he casually said, carefully minding his side as he took a seat on the chair near her bed. He didn't comment on her weight loss, did not comment on her sunken eyes and nervous expression. To him, she was alive... and she was healing.. and she was still the most beautiful woman he'd ever met.

"I am not here to question you... nor will you be fed any sort of potion against your will," he replied gently, his gaze never leaving her face. "For your children, it was necessary as we needed some clarity before removing their mark. All of your children are residing here in this estate.... save for Melitta, who is in custody with the Ministry. I am overseeing that."

He took a shaky breath, exhaling it slowly. "It is good to see you, kardiá mou. It has been far too long." Vulnerability bled through his gaze, his tone soft. His hand reached for hers, covering it gently as he spoke the words he's wanted to for years. "I am so sorry. I have failed you... I did not realize what had happened until it was too late. I do not know how to earn your forgiveness, but I will make sure no suffering comes upon you and your children ever again." It was the least he could do, for what was a man who could not protect the one person he loved? He had failed in all aspects and did not deserve her, but that did not mean he would not protect her with everything he had.

ellie  contavius     ...    ▇▇▇     she often found herself, dreaming of a time when she was truly happy. when she was but a child, relishing in magic, in being one of the smartest in her year. right beside the slytherin who had stolen her heart. the two planning a future, a life. a faux belief that everything was going to be okay. that she would get a chance at happiness. which had been the biggest fucking lie ever. all because of klarick. the male she'd been ignoring for years. cyrus' rival, and the male obsessed with her beyond all rational thought. who upon ellies 17th birthday, had made a move that changed not only her life. but the lives of everyone else. all thanks to a slipped drink, and a well placed vanilla cake she'd been unable to resist. and fuck what an idiot she'd been. from there had begun her life of fighting, of trying to survive. to give her children the strength they needed to endure, whilst hers slowly slipped away. rendered to dust as the years passed. the loss of two children, one by choice and one by klarick, also did not help her find the strength to fight any longer. [   if anything that was truly when she'd given up. no longer eating or speaking.  ]  blinking away the memories, that still haunted her even now. she focuses on the arrival of the male. his taller frame makes her seem so tiny in comparison as it always had. and it honesty takes everything within her to not shrink away from it. from the imposing aura of his stature, as well as his magic as it washes over her. years of trauma and pain making her want to coil away, from one clearly so powerful. even the familiarity of him, wasn't enough to calm that storm. as it had been two decades after all. two decades of separation, and misconceptions burning between them with a weight, that almost crushed her chest. and why she'd replied so formal, despite every part of her wanting to speak his name once more. to let it curl off her tongue as it used too. no instead, she kept it contained, like she had the whole damn time. carrying him inside. his appearance confirmed one thing though, that he was clearly the reason she was here. in a vast estate to recover instead of in a sterile and cold hospital. all the best medi-witches hired to help her recover. his abuse of such a status, taking on a more personal edge.

her eyebrow hitches: slightly, the barest of twitches that betrays nothing on her face. but if one was to know her, it would show that she wasn't impressed with the cocky attitude. something that was paired with the smallest twinge of her lips. as the recovering female fights off the smallest want of a laugh. but she doesn't give into it, and instead lets the truth settle over her. that it was finally at an end. that the one who had tortured her for years, was now gone. she was truly free. sapphire hues, trail over his face as he sits, taking note of every little fisure of him. the way his grey eyes, were tinged with the smallest edges of pain. and yet he was ignoring it. to focus on her, his large hands gentle as it touches hers, his words soft like she was some scared animal. a light frown pulls at her features in contemplation. ❛   i ..... i ...   ❜ the clog in her throat steals her words. and has her frowning. before an almost quiet determination bleeds into her gaze, as she looks over to the bedside table, where her wand was sitting innocently. taking a deep breathe, she does something she'd not done in years. calling on a part of herself that had laid dormant. forgotten under the shroud of potions and spells, suffocated beneath the weight of a dark mark. one of two she bore. [   because of course, klarick couldn't just bind her by one. he had to use one of the oldest archaic marriage bindings too. ]  ❛   you're hurt thirío mou ...   ❜ the words coil in his mind, with far more strength then her mouth can speak. the age old nickname of 'my beast', a play on how others saw him but she never did and had once been teased on how she tamed the 'beast'. being spoken almost reverently. as though the statement still stood now, despite everything. no thought behind it being spoken, just the hidden feelings in her heart. a shaking hand rises to run along his jaw, where some marks are visible beneath his beard. her eyes also flickering to his side and other spots, showing she'd taken note of what he was hiding. her perception still capturing his every hidden inclination. her tongue darts out to swipe over her dry lips. as she hums softly, the sound almost amplifies within his mind as she once again lowers her hand. ❛   why ??   ❜ the word cutting with a precision that was sharper than any knife she could dare use. but it was a question she needed answering. before she dared grasp, how even now he still called her his heart. ❛   you believed me possible of betrayal. of cheating. of choosing a man i'd done nothing but try and avoid all through school. why protect me and mine now ?? why fight for me, when m'beyond broken ...   ❜

Cyrus Argeia was visibly upset. Astra could see a vein bulging against his forehead, his ears going red and complete fury overtaking his features as Nico spoke of Ellie. There was history there, something untold and heavy that weighed upon the Minister of Magic that had Astra tensing up from head to toe. Rarely has Cyrus ever been this furious before at anyone. She'd seen moments of passion from him when he was fighting for a cause, but this was RAW anger she did not know he was capable of. She was rather glad he stormed out of the room to get a breather.

She was even more glad to be in Nico's arms. His scent encased her, his body warm, his heartbeat strong against her ear as she briefly closed her eyes. "I never thought I'd see you again," she whispered against his chest as his lips pressed atop her hairline. She breathed him in deeply and exhaled slowly, committing the way he pulled her closer to memory. She wanted to drown in this man.

Elysia saw the whole spectacle and gave Nico a knowing look. There was a short pause after he'd asked the question. "He's in rehabilitation. Almost healed and itching to go out and fight... despite the fact that it took him a year to heal from that day... and he is more scarred than not," Elysia explained, pushing herself off the wall to stand straight, tilting her head towards Astra.

"No," Astra said firmly. "I am not tired. I will be doing the removal now." She pulled back, taking a hold of his arm as she did. Brown eyes lifted to meet his, letting him know she was absolutely not going to budge on this. "I am stronger than I look." She did not need to be coddled. This was a war and people were suffering far more than a little fatigue.

Before Nico could protest, she manhandled him onto the bench, sitting his massive frame down with a strength most people did not know she was capable of. It caused Elysia's brows to raise in mild surprise. "I don't want this mark on you for any longer than necessary." Her eyes glowed a bit as she took a hold of his arm, seeing the dark magic gathered there. Traces of ancient magic brewed around them and she gathered those bits into herself, knowing she'd need it to neutralize the dark magic that came out of this mark.

The extraction process began and she pulled the dark magic out with her wand, her movements precise, coordinated, as magic pulsed around them. She saw the tethers of the dark mark with her Sight and cut them, effectively ending his connection with Klarick before she consumed the onslaught and flood of darkness that emitted from the mark. The pain was immeasurable, worse than Oliver's pain and it sent every cell in her body into overdrive as she worked to neutralize it with ancient magic. Spikes, pins, needles, stabs, the mental torment caused her breath to hitch and hands to tremble, but the determination in her gaze never wavered, nor did the hold on his arm.

The process took twice as long as Oliver's and as the dark magic burned and neutralized within her using ancient magic, she could not imagine the amount of pain Nico had to go through to endure this. It took every bit of concentration and control not to cry out in pain. Finally, after some very long moments, it was done, the mark cleared from his skin as if it had never been there. Weakness overtook Astra as her vision blurred, but she managed to stay upright, every muscle in her body screaming from the strain. Her breathing was slightly laboured as lips quirked up to form a tired smile. "You're free," her voice barely above a whisper.

nico  contavius     ...    ▇▇▇    he hadn't intended, to piss off the minister for magic. not intentionally. even if nico was aware that the male hated him, hated his family for their actions. but there had been something in his eyes, a certain glint when nico spoke of his mother. that had given away a weakness, a chink in his armour that nico had prodded and poked simply for some amusement. that and he knew, thanks to his mother and sisters teachings, that ones anger was easier to control, allowing to dodge around certain truths. no matter how much potion was pulsing in a persons veins. he hadn't thought it was true, that one could dodge a truth like that. but given how much nico had been able to bite back, simply by pissing the minister off, he realised his mother and sister were indeed correct. and for that he was thankful, as there were still stages, still plays he needed to make. before he could give all the details away. plus, unfortunately for the minister. nico didn't trust him, and probably wouldn't for a while. as sure nico knew he was the male, his mother had been protecting for years. but it meant nothing to nico. [   his trust would be a lot harder to gain, secondary only to his elder sister.  ]  he is thankful, when the male leaves. allowing for him to relax almost intermittently. to lower some of the guards he was wrapping himself in. his arms holding astra for the first time in years. his memory flickering back with ease, to graduation, which was the last time. the time he told her to hide, to run whilst his arms were wrapped around her. before he'd slunk away with his siblings and entered the world that became his torture. as he pushed himself to his limits, pushed himself to almost breaking point, as he works to unravel the power klarick held in his hands. as he became a brother working to save his siblings, a son working to protect his mother. and a man working or at least trying, to save every fucker else.

❛   i told you i had a plan dove. it just took longer to initiate it then planned !!   ❜ he chuckles: finding a small shred of humour in the situation. needing the simplicity of it all. the reality that for now, they were safe. that she was safe. as oh he knew his 'father' would be pissed at the turn of events. that he would lose his god damn mind and no doubt make mel kill even more people. and without nico or oli there, he wasn't sure deaths would be prevented. but he couldn't think on those what-ifs right now. instead he focuses on other things, like astra in his arms. as well as the other person tasked with watching him. the sister of one of klaricks earlier victims. his lips curling upwards, in the smallest remnants of a smile as she speaks. ❛   sounds like elias. and i know why hes doing it. but she's not gonna be happy her husbands willing to put himself back in klaricks firing line. not after everything that happened last time. or the moves shes made to undermine klarick ...   ❜ he shrugs, before snorting softly as he realises the truth potion was clearly still in effect. given the truth bomb he'd just dropped. the truth that the pair had married the night of graduation, and why elias had been the key. to his sister breaking. still his attention is drawn from that, to astra. an eyebrow raised at her steadily as he senses the stubbornness in her. his shock is enough of an action to freeze him in place, granting her the opportunity to manhandle him. and he has to bite down on his cheeks, quickly and harshly, to hide how much he enjoyed it. [   it really was not the time, for his mind to cook up images of it happening in a different way. ] 

a growl rips its way: out of his throat. as astra starts to strip the mark. the pain and violence of it all, making his large frame tremble. his whole fortitude is tested as he tries to remain standing under the weight of the pain. it had hurt like a bitch to get it embedded on his skin, but having it stripped felt like his whole body was being burned alive. and fuck he'd rather be dipped in acid right now then suffer this. his jade green eyes showing the true extent of the pain he was fighting to hide. but his gaze is locked on astra, seeing the true limit of how far she was being pushed. and anger swirls like a maelstrom inside him once more, his anger at her being so damn careless with her health. he had told her to rest for a damn reason, yes he knew she was strong, he knew she wanted to help the family. but there was a fucking limit to everything. a limit to even her fucking capacity. catching her as she collapses, he twists quickly to settle her on the bed behind him. her lithe frame relaxed against his much more muscular one. his eyes burn into hers like a fire. as he fights to not blow up. the more rational part of him knowing that right now, anger was not the needed weapon. calm and rational words were. but merlin, she was testing him. ❛   god damn it astra, you need to rest. this isn't me coddling you. far fucking from it !! this is me telling you, i didn't spend the last god knows how long protecting the woman i love. just to watch her crumble now. if you can barely handle my mark, my sister and mothers is going to kill you. you NEED to rest. properly !!   ❜ emotion clogs his throat as his eyes assess her. seeing the pain she was trying so hard to hide from him and elysia, but he could read like an open fucking book. knowing its language so easily. his fingers tremble as he pushes some of her heart back off her sweat drenched forehead. [   he was honestly wondering if the one thing that will mentally break him, is the constant worrying he does for this stubborn woman. ]  ❛   please, rest. for me !!   ❜

ellie  contavius     ...    ▇▇▇     her mouth was dry, and her head pounding in a way that went far beyond the usual headache. she knew it was the side effect of being weaned off all the potions, she'd been fed since her teenage years. at this point, the blonde would be surprised if there was actual blood in her veins. and not just the pearlescent colour, of that fucking potion. tired sapphire eyes, trail to her now bare forearm, before looking out the window as memories assault her. the one dark stain upon the flesh finally missing. all thanks to astra, the sweet girl who had sacrificed everything to strip her family from klarick's control. to remove the chains that bound them all to that evil. she'd been determined to prove they were victims in klaricks game. despite everyone believing her part of his plan. despite everyone believing that she had turned her back on the pure magic her family had once preached, and helped klarick to become one of the strongest dark magic practitioners ever. her name was now, completely and utterly tarnished beneath those lies. but the truth was much darker. klaricks obsession leading to a love potion, and her inadvertently committing betrayal to the one man she truly loved. the one she carried in her heart, even as she was forced to birth klarick children, weapons of power. for his sick and twisted games.
