BNHA: Chapter 192
I just want to say how much I appreciated this chapter.
It goes to illustrate that despite what people say, Horikoshi really does think about his work, and how things aren’t black and white when it comes to situations like this.
People respond to things differently.
I loved that this is what Endeavour found when he got home. Despite everything he’s done and the fact that at least two of his children are not going to forgive him so easily, they still attempted to be there for him.
Fuyumi is adorable acting as peacemaker!
This was a strong panel. Endeavour’s face really does say it all.
It’s hit home.
The juxtaposition of both their scars screams karma, and I can imagine the hint of sarcasm in Todoroki’s tone.
I really feel for Natsuo.
In another post I described him as feeling like a failed experiment, and about how it must have been hard to live in shouto’s shadow. This not only exemplifies that, but the fact that we as the readers (and possibly some of his classmates) know that Todoroki’s favourite food is Soba over his own brother is tremendously sad, no matter how trivial.
Todoroki not only lost out on his childhood, but his three siblings basically lost out on time spent with their little brother too.
They are nearly strangers!
To give Endeavour credit where it’s due, he is actually listening to what Natsuo has to say.
I don’t think that Rei and Fuyumi forgive Endeavour completely. I think they both have high hopes of finally having a happy, normal family. I think they want to move on and make up for lost time, whereas Shouto and Natsuo need Endeavour to earn the little respect he deserves back, and believe that he can’t just do that by saying that he’ll change.
It’s about proving it.
Finally a name for the renowned older brother, Touya! I wonder what the deal is there.
I get where Natsuo is coming from but I also really understand Fuyumi’s point of view too. She just wants a stable family! Also, as the oldest, she must’ve had it the hardest, being the first disappointment. While I admit that It was wishful thinking to believe that things would fall into place so perfectly on her part, I hope she’ll get what she so desperately wants eventually.
I think Shouto is taking the best stance, he’s not prepared to forgive Endeavour completely like Fuyumi, but he is more open to letting Endeavour prove himself as a father then Natsuo, who is more cynical and inclined to believe that Endeavour will never change.
I’m glad Endeavour finally acknowledged Fuyumi. With Rei hospitalised, the older brother M.I.A., Natsuo away at college, and Shouto studying at U.A, she must’ve been the sole homemaker as well as working full-time as a pre-school teacher. The woman is so underappreciated it unbelievable.
I believe that this is what it’s all about, acknowledging what he's done wrong, resolving to change knowing that it may be too little, too late, being better, and proving himself to them no matter what.
Then it’s up to those he’s hurt whether to forgive him.
I for one value what Horikoshi has done in this chapter. Demonstrating the delicacy of the situation through the different thought processes that each of those affected are experiencing.
I hope so Endeavour, I really do!
