things to do on sundays to recharge and make the upcoming week awesome
⢠clean ya room (just do it). also, check those pinterest boards you save for âone dayâ and actually go through them and draw some inspiration, even if you just end up rearranging the books on your bookshelf or putting some flowers from your garden in a mason jar on your desk. this is your home, make it feel like it is.
⢠do your laundry (also, donât forget your bed sheets). if youâre in the mood, look at next weekâs weather forecast and think about what youâre going to wear. go through your drawers, check the back of your closet. that hat you bought some time ago and forgot about because you didnât dare to wear it? well⌠new week, new you, right?Â
⢠call a friend/family member you havenât talked to in a while, tell them you miss them. tell them you love them. remember and appreciate that they are a part of your life even if it doesnât feel like it all the time.
⢠draw, paint, journal, write or make some music. something you know you love doing but ânever find the timeâ. sunday is âfinding-the-time dayâ. if youâre not feeling creative, read a book or watch your favorite show. or watch a new show. a scary show. a funny show. laugh as loud as you want. listen to music. listen to your favorite songs, or listen to new songs. even a new genre if you dare. turn the volume all the way up. take a second to consciously feel the music. you can always get up and dance. or sing. or both.
⢠the great, but still really effective classic: take a bath or a really long shower. if you have this special face or hair mask youâre saving up for a special occasion: congrats, youâre the special occasion today. use it. also, body lotion. we all know youâre going to be running late during the week and skip it one too many times. make yourself feel like the goddess you are.Â
⢠sit in silence for a few moments. listen to your breath. listen to your heartbeat. for the love of god PLEASE listen to your thoughts for once in your life. donât make them feel like they are wrong. or bothersome. they too just want to be heard once in a while. what are they trying to tell you? what could be soothing for them? be compassionate to yourself. itâs okay. you are okay. you are okay.
⢠think about things you can be grateful for next week. even if you feel like your life sucks atm, think about the small things you take for granted in a different way. for example: ânext week, i will have access to clean water. CLEAN. WATER. 844 million people donât have that.â or ânext week, my legs will take me wherever i want to go. not everybody has two fully functioning legs, so iâm lucky in that way.â youâre allowed to feel bad about your life, but youâre also allowed to feel good about things.Â
⢠if youâve stayed home most of the week, go out. go for a walk. go swimming. go to a party or dinner with friends. even if you feel like you donât need to see the outside world, chances are youâll feel great after you do. if you feel like youâve been running around all week, maybe youâd like to stay home today. put on your ugliest sweater, comfiest leggings, and fluffiest socks and curl up under a thousand blankets. you a sloth today and itâs okay.Â
⢠eat. i mean honestly: eat THE THING. i donât care if youâre on a diet. if thereâs something youâve been craving all week that has turned you into the veiny-neck-dude meme just trying to resist it: EAT IT. you deserve it. not because you worked out or ate salads or did well in school, but just because youâre a human and you love to eat and life is short and you should be allowed to eat yummy things. itâs okay. you wonât gain 5 pounds or lose your brain cells no matter how unhealthy it is, i promise.
⢠plan plan plan yo week. it doesnât matter if you use a planner, bullet journal, the calendar on your phone or the notes app: write everything down you have going on next week. appointments. events. coffee-dates. when are you going to the gym? what are you going to eat? (meal prep if necessary) also, create reminders on your phone for everything. âi wonât forget it!â is a sweet thought, but oh honey you will. schedule reminders for every event. let your phone remind you that you need to buy toilet paper when the store is nearby. schedule daily reminders for your medications. (once youâve done this it honestly feels like you just cleaned out 38GB of your brain, you simply donât have to worry about that anymore, space for more important info, like your new favorite pun to annoy everyone with)
⢠most importantly: listen to what your mind and your body need today and next week. daily life is so full of âshould-doâs that itâs important to find a healthy balance between the âshouldâs and the âneedâs. you will be much more productive, healthy and happy that way. nobody knows you better than you do, take advantage of that and plan accordingly.
types of study breaks for every situation
if you realize youâve been studying for hours: grab a snack to refuel your body and watch a sitcom to refuel your brain. then back to the books.
if youâre feeling stressed out: take some deep breaths, text your friends, maybe stare at a wall for a few minutes. gather yourself.
if you canât seem to focus: get moving and get outside. take out the garbage, check your mail box, maybe walk your dog. just get moving and get fresh air. itâll help bring you back.
if thereâs something else going on in your life and you canât get it off your mind: write down whatâs going through your head, sort of like a diary entry. itâll help you work things out.
if youâre just mentally and physically exhausted: set a timer for 25-30 minutes and take a nap. any longer and youâll hit REM and youâll wake up feeling just as tired. once you wake up, get some caffeine in you.
if the material is boring as hell: find another way to study. see if thereâs a crash course video online about it or draw out what youâre trying to learn in diagrams and pictures to make it fun.
if people around you wonât shut up: listen to some music. soundtrack and classical music is always good because they wonât absorb you as much as music with lyrics. white noise (like ocean waves, rain sounds, etc.) also works.
if you only half understand a concept: call/message a friend whoâs not in the class and try to teach the material to them. this will help you mentally work through the material and will help you remember it as well.
How to know which language level youâre at and tips for improving your skills - divided by proficiency level!
These are all my personal thoughts and experiences from reaching a proficient level in one language, and an intermediate in another!! Feel free to correct me or add whatever you wish<3
 1. A0 - Knowledge Level: Nothing
At this stage, you have absolutely no knowledge or very little knowledge about a language. My advice is to start out slow: the alphabet, pronunciation rules, basic pronouns, colors, etc. At this point, thereâs not much you can improve on (Reading/Writing, Listening and Speaking) since youâve got no actual knowledge to expand upon. Try apps like Duolingo, have fun with translating words such as your favorite animal, plant, or swear word. Donât put too much pressure on yourself at this point, itâs all in good fun! Try starting a notebook in which you write down new words, (i.e. all of them) or watching a couple videos on Youtube, even if you donât understand much.
2. A1 - Knowledge Level: Just a Bit
This is when you slowly exit the stage of âis this even a languageâ and enter the âbeginnerâ world. You know a couple basic verbs (to be, to have, eat, sleep, walk, talk, etc) and some sets of basic nouns/pronouns. (weekdays, months, numbers, colors, objects you find around the house, and all that fun jazz.) You can string together a couple sentences youâve heard twenty times on Duolingo! Regardless of the fact that âThe boys drink milkâ is not really something youâll need in irl conversation, itâs good that youâre getting familiar. By this time, you should start looking into proper grammar rules such as verb terminations, tenses, noun declinations, pronouns, etc. Childrenâs books are a good way to learn a lot of stuff youâd need. The language is simple and it goes straight to the point, which is the only type of writing you understand, mostly. Right now, speaking is not really an option aside from learning to pronounce words right. Listening, on the other hand, can be done really easily! If you find that Youtube channels in your target language are boring or too hard to understand, music is the way to go. Youâre especially lucky if youâre a Disney fan, because most of their songs are easy to remember and are dubbed in a lot of languages, so have fun with finding what fits you best!
3. A2 - Knowledge Level: Basic/Preliminary
Now weâre beginning to see some major improvements. You pick up words easier, you can read almost perfectly even if you donât understand everything, and you can form really basic sentences by yourself. For speaking, by now you should be able to say your name, the place you live in, and maybe talk about your hobbies or your favorite stuff! It depends on if youâve worked with a teacher until now or not, so donât worry if youâre still struggling. As a stepping stone between beginner and intermediate, this level can either be the one when you slowly improve or make a really big jump in your skills. Listening to songs and youtube videos should be easier, but nobody is expecting you to actually comprehend everything. As for vocabulary and reading, learning new words should come more intuitively by now, but again, youâre still in the early days. Writing is still something that can be difficult, so try maybe linking a couple sentences together to make a short story and translating some simple texts. But it you donât find it difficult, writing a hundred words once a couple days may be the way to go.
4. B1 - Knowledge Level - Intermediate
Finally, weâve reached the intermediate stage! By now you should be able to hold very basic conversation and reveal information about yourself. You should be able to pick up words you know from the people around you, and understand mostly everything if spoken slowly and clearly to. Reading light books or magazines should be challenging but okay, while you should be able to remember certain words without making too big of an effort. By this stage, active learning is still essential, as you probably have a lot more ahead in your language learning journey. I encourage you to write short stories or several sentences about your day in a diary, depending on what works for you. Watching Youtube videos should be something you do often, because it improves listening skills greatly and gets you accustomed to informal speech patterns and filler words.
5. B2 - Knowledge Level - Advanced Intermediate
Yay! You have officially reached the advanced intermediate stage! You should be able to hold everyday conversation without too big of a headache, listening probably isnât a breeze for you but still, if you watch a basic youtube video you can pretty much get all of it. YA books should be a regular part of your reading, since theyâre not too hard to comprehend but still a good reading exercise. Vocabulary probably isnât a bother anymore, since you know most of the words you need and the ones you donât, you hear them once or five times and they stick to you. At this level you can probably write some basic fanfiction, or anything that doesnât require advanced language skills but is still challenging. Congrats! Youâre almost at an advanced level!
6. C1 - Advanced
If youâre still here, means youâve got a strong sense of dedication. C1 is the advanced level, where you have pretty much everything that you need to comfortably live your life in a country which speaks your target language. If youâre already here and most of the above things seem far, far away to you, then maybe itâs time to get down on some serious reading. Look up local classics, or contemporary works that stimulate your mind. Writing essays, reviews, reports, etc, should be something you are able to do, as you have a good grasp on both formal and informal language, both literary concepts and idioms/phrasal verbs/slang. Listening should come easily, with the ability to understand everything that is spoken to you without worries, as long as they donât have an alien accent. Speaking, too, should be a breeze by now, with everyday conversation being a piece of cake and more formal conversations not posing too big of a challenge. If you want to reach the nextâ and lastâ level, it can be done through thorough preparation of skills that are usually required by exams or for language-related jobs. If you donât care about either of these, congrats! You learned a language!Â
7. C2 - Proficient
Long past fluency, you now wish to master a language, down to its very core and history. Pick up some of the big classics to read. Watch a bunch of those complicated videos explaining complicated concepts. Write poetry and prose, and speak to people in contexts which require more than the average range of vocabulary. If youâre still not satisfied, get a damn teacher. Tumblr canât help you now.
Language learning in under 5 minutes
write 1 or 2 sentences to sum up your day
learn 5 new words
listen to a song
watch short video
conjugate a verb
read and attempt to say out loud a tongue twister
count from 1 to 100
sing the alphabet
read a page in a book
New goal for speaking! Iâm going to try and do 10 minutes practice a day 6 days a week (1 hour total each week) for the rest of the year. Iâm going to record myself doing a little introduction, talking a bit about myself, my family and where I live (general A1 stuff) today, and then Iâm going to record another introduction at the end of the year (by which time I shouldâve done a total of 20 hours dedicated speaking practice) so I can see how much my pronunciation/fluency has improved.
Anyone fancy joining me or doing something similar? Doesnât have to be 10 minutes a day, it could be 2 minutes or 5 minutes of 20 minutes, once a week, 3 days a week, 5 days a week, idk. But if you do then let me know, and weâll come up with a hashtag or something for it so we can cheer each other on :)
Okay, seems like there are quite a few people whoâd be potentially interested! So I was thinking it could work something like this (feel free to give feedback):
You donât have to choose just one language, but whatever you decide to do, try to be as consist as possible with it (so if you say youâre gonna do language A twice a week and language B once a week, stick with that as best you can)
You can talk about whatever you like, but I can provide a number of prompts at the start of each week for if you get stuck
You donât have to talk for 2/5/10/whatever minutes straight; Iâve been doing 3-4 minutes at a time a couple of times a day so far, so if you want to do 2 lots of 30 seconds thatâs cool, if you want to do a 15-minute monologue thatâs also cool
Maybe do chill/normal/hardcore levels? So chill would be like 1-2 sessions a week, normal 3-4, hardcore 5-7. And then you set your own target for how many minutes you want to do total.
You can also just do pronunciation drills, eg reciting the alphabet, repeating words you struggle to pronounce, repeating sentences until they feel natural to say, saying tongue twisters etc - you donât have to monologue
You can upload your recordings on your blog if you want to hold yourself accountable, or if the thought of that makes you want to die then you donât have to, just keep us updated once/twice a week on your progress
Do try to record yourself and listen back so you can hear yourself! The point is to do dedicated speaking practice, so itâll work best if you can listen back and hear your mistakes and what you need to improve
Anyone can join in at any time, so if you miss the start you can still join, and if you do one week but then miss a month, you can rejoin again later
Any other suggestions? Also suggestions for a hashtag we can all use/challenge name?
Hey babes! August is here, which means that the first day of class isnât far for a lot of us! The first day is exciting, but it can also be pretty scary. Hereâs your guide to tackling the first day with grace, and setting yourself up for your best year yet!
be prepared
Having the best first day means putting in some work beforehand! This way you can wake up the day-of and have a relaxing morning, instead of rushing around trying to find your textbooks.Â
Save your class schedule to your phone
I like to add each class (including details like the room #) as an individual reminder in my iPhone. That way all you have to do is swipe right on the lock screen and everything you need to know is there! If you have another type of phone, setting a picture of your schedule as your home screen works as well.Â
Prepare your supplies
Make sure you have everything youâll need for the first day, and pack your backpack completely the night before.Â
Think of some ice breaker answers
I donât know about you, but for me the worst part of the first day is sharing âa fun fact about yourselfâ or âone word that describes youâ in every class. Save yourself some stress and think of those now!
Pick out your outfit
First impressions are important, so show up on your first day feeling confident about how you look! Make sure everything is ironed and laid out the night before so all you have to do is put it on!
Pack a lunch and prep breakfast
Make sure you have a healthy lunch packed and ready to go before you go to bed the night before, and go ahead and get a head start on breakfast too. Lay out the ingredients on the counter so all you have to do is fire the waffle iron up and go.Â
Get a good nightâs sleep
Go to bed a little earlier than you normally would. Nerves about the first day mean that you may not get to sleep as fast, and youâll probably be waking up earlier than youâre used to anyway.Â
the first day!
Wake up early
If you wake up a little earlier than you need to you can start your day relaxed, and that sets the tone for the whole day! Take your time getting ready & eating breakfast, and avoid using your phone (or youâll totally find yourself on Twitter instead of getting dressed)
Get to school early
It usually takes me a little while to get my bearings on the first day of class, especially if my first class is in a new building. Show up early so you have time to scope out the halls and find your way.
Bring a planner
Youâll be getting a lot of dates thrown at you the first day, so be sure to bring your planner to write it all down!
Introduce yourself
Before class, say hello to the person youâre sitting next to and get to know them a little! After class be sure to introduce yourself to your teacher (or say hello if youâve had them before). Itâll leave a good impression and may help you out with your participation grade!
Relax!
First days can be scary, but they can also be fun! Try to relax and enjoy it and know that youâll have the best year ever!

8. What is your ideal day with your friends
Penso che un giorno con i miei amici sarebbe ideale se andassimo in campeggio. Mi piace fare escursioni, in particolare in luoghi vicino all'oceano. Cucineremmo insieme e guarderemmo le stelle nel cielo. ⨠Non ho una idea concreta di questa domanda perchĂŠ ogni giorno con tutti i miei amici è ideale. đ¤ˇââď¸
Russian Film Hub
If you want to watch Russian or Soviet movies with English subtitles, there is a site that has them available and sorted by genre, decade and country.
Sometimes the film needs to be seen on YouTube instead, but it seems good to find something to watch based on your interests.
