         ❛   NOW you’re catching on.  ❜   she murmurs against plush lips while hers are parted && curved,      marveling at  the melodious sounds of the giggling pile of emerald-eyed beauty that lies next to her.  she could listen to violet laugh all day long and never get tired of it.   it brings her mind back to all the moments where she managed to say something that amused her,   or aj was being EFFORTLESSLY adorable or excited about one of his discoveries where the happy little sound would erupt her stomach into a rush of FLUTTERS that she never wanted to end.        her own,  caramel-toned hand coming up to overlap the others gently,     keeping her palm pressed against her flesh,     her response issues a crooked grin from the petite brunette  && a roll of her eyes.    ❛  yeah, but I was asking in case you had a different answer this time around. okay, what about after we fly to the grand canyon? what monuments are we lookin’ at first?  ❜    it might sound DUMBER said outloud, but clementine couldn't help but wonder if there were ACTUAL presidential faces carved into the sides of mountains.    if so?     talk about dedication.    although —— she didn't have much room to speak.    . she dedicated AN ENTIRE STAR to the girl she loves.            her nose scrunches,    && brows furrow.    offended at the statement that violet recalls.    ❛  what was his problem? its not a stupid place to visit. nor is it just some big hole, or some rocks. you probably know way more about it than i do with the documentaries you've watched, but its literally nature-made, right? there’s no way humans could've made all those amazing valleys && streams.  ❜

❛    MY  DAD  WAS  AN  IDIOT  WHO’S  BRAIN  WAS  REPLACED  BY  ALCOHOL.    ❜          a  scowl  settles  on  the  blonde’s  lips  ,  emerald  gaze  distant  for  a  moment  as  she  stared  into  nothingness.        thinking  about  her  family  was  never  pleasant  for  her   -------  but  thinking  about  making  memories  with  clementine  did  off-set  her  mind  pretty  easily. 

❛            i  don’t  even  know  where  i’d  go-----         i  miss  learning. . .    ❜       it’s  an  off-hand  comment  ,  mind  wandering  along  each  path  it  comes  to.         ❛    never  thought  i’d  actually  miss  school. . .         i  mean  ,  i  miss  learning  about  history  &  shit.       maybe  not  math-----    fuck  math. . .    ❜         she  laughs  ,  her  gaze  finally  returning  to  clementine.           ❛    but  i  liked  history. . .        &  english.        wrote  shitty  poems  like  ten  year  olds  do.   ❜        a  finger  catches  a  brown  curl  ,  gently  twirling  it.           ❛    science  was  cool  ,  too. . .        i  helped  in  the  greenhouse  for  a  while  when  things  went  to  shit  here.   ❜            lips  purse  ,  gaze  roaming  the  others  features.          ❛    is  it  cheating  to  say  i  liked  lunch  most. . . ?        it  was  when  i  could  read.    ❜

RUBY

          ruby vaguely wonders if she should take the bottle, but resists for the time being, instead, smiling faintly and lightly shaking her head. she’ll try to reason with violet, first, at least. “ exactly why you should probably call it quits, y’know? ‘fore ya wake up with a killer hangover. ” though, she realizes, violet’s probably destined to wake up with one at this point. “ at least drink some water before ya go t’ bed t’ try t’ minimize it, yeah? ”

          then ruby can’t help but snort at what violet says next, rolling her eyes playfully as she responds, “ tell ya what; i’ll start acceptin’ ‘em the moment you do, deal? ”

          the moment violet’s hand falls away from her hair, ruby lifts a hand to tuck a stray curl behind her ear. her eyes follow violet’s up to the sky, and only look back at the girl when she speaks up again. “ yeah, i do, ” ruby confirms with a faint nod. “ can’t remember if y’actually LIKED IT, though… ”

❛     MOM  LIKED  IT.     ❜               her  gaze  narrows  faintly  at  the  sky  as  the  rest  of  their  conversation  falls  away  as  thoughts  of  her  parents  fill  the  blonde’s  mind.         she’s  almost  too  drunk  to  actually  get  irritated  when  she  thinks  fo  her  family.       ALMOST.          ❛     she  liked  braidin’  it  &  puttin’  it  in  pigtails.         dad  thought  it  made  me  look  less  BOYISH.    ❜

she  sets  the  bottle  aside  in  favor  of  falling  back  ,  back  hitting  the  ground  with  a  thud  as  she  crossed  thin  arms  over  narrow  chest.         ❛    always  had  some  shit  to  say  ,  you  know . . . ?        WEAR  MORE  PINK  !       fuckin’  hated  pink. . .   ❜

CLEM

                 her gold eyes bounced around the ceiling in consideration of vi’s outspoken debate.    ❛  mmhp. very cliché , && cliché doesn’t even come close to fitting you.    ❜    violet was her own novel.     chapters unable to fall in place with anything else they’ve ever known in their separate lives before the age of walkers brought them together.   each page something new.    but still every bit of overpoweringly beautiful with all the sharp edges she loves.    the finger that reaches up,      curling around her chestnut ringlet makes her eyes close.     she didn’t realize how much she actually loved having her messy showcase of thick ringlets that were growing month-by-month   ( much to her dismay && disgruntlement over not having an ACTUAL pair of shears .  brushes were definitely out of the question  ).   played with until meeting violet,   && it provokes her to nestle closer until their foreheads were touching.    her accurate guessing broadens the grin on her lips,    & her eyes slowly pry themselves open.   ❛   bingo. ❜            the earnest wish was the most romantic thing she had ever heard in her entire life,    && there was no force that could keep clementine from sweeping in,  inviting herself into violets close proximity & cushioning her lips against the plush pair that spellbinds her so often,      pouring the gentle emotion that rockets through her body into every bit of their connection.       a magical pull always occurred whenever she kissed violet.    like she was becoming apart of something bigger —- better than whatever it was that she is now.     withdrawing slowly,     stealing the air in a light inhale entering the breath back into her lungs,     her upturning lips that brought a bona fide smile that still tingled with the memory of violet.    ❛   you give me wings.   where would we go first? you can pick the first destination of our adventures.  ❜  

HER  HEART  ALWAYS  FEELS  LIKE  IT’S  TWO  SECONDS  FROM  LEAVING  ORBIT  WHEN  CLEM  KISSED  HER.         it  really  wasn’t  fair  ;   how  was  she  supposed  to  focus  on  speaking  after  being  kissed  by  her  ?          she  really  does  try  her  damndest  to  stay  on  topic  ,  but  she  ends  up  melting  into  a  giggling  little  pile  for  a  moment.        to  see  her  like  that  was  truly  a  sight  ------  something  none  of  the  other  students  would  ever  see.           ❛    --------  fuck  ,  clem.      that’s  not  fair.    ❜

she  brushes  her  thumb  against  the  other’s  cheek  &  tries  to  regain  control  of  her  racing  thoughts.           ❛   didn’t  i  answer  this  before  ?      with  brody  ?      --------  GRAND  CANYON.       i  always  saw  documentaries  of  it  on  tv.       my  dad  thought  it  would  be a  stupid  place  to  visit  ----  just. . .      a  big  hole.     ❜

RUBY

          ruby hates her hair; conditioned to do so from a young age. it’s WILD, UNKEMPT; a LION’S MANE. the boys in her kindergarten class never let her forget how UGLY it was– among other things. even now, she struggles to love her hair. especially THESE DAYS when her knotty curls could proof to be a detriment to her life. but she knows short hair wouldn’t look good on her, so she resorts to the bun. 

          “ VI—– ” she tries, voice soft, laced with subtle concern for her friend’s well-being. “ i think maybe you’ve had enough to drink… ” she must’ve had too much to be complimenting ruby’s hair, much less PLAYING WITH IT. she’s not used to people actually LIKING it– but she doesn’t say anything; doesn’t try to pull away, as she mumbles, “ i just… try to keep it clean… ”

❛   I  KNOW  WHEN  I’VE  DRANK  TOO  MUCH------       &&  while  you’re  right  ,  i  also  don’t  give  a  flying  fuck  ,  so . . .     ❜          laughter  spills  from  the  blonde’s  lips  as  she  twirls  one  of  the  others  curls.        ❛      you  need  to  learn  to  take  a  compliment.      ❜          says  the  girl  notorious  for  rolling  her  eyes  at  compliments. . . 

she  looks  up  to  the  sky  after  a  moment  ,  hand  falling  from  the  others  hair.          ❛     i  had  long  hair  when  i  was  younger.     you  remember  that  ?       ❜

KENNY

“The hell do you mean by that?” In fairness, his tone isn’t as aggressive as it could’ve been. He’s surprised by the sudden observation more than anything else. Maybe it’s too obvious, the fact that he’s hardly the person he used to be. Maybe he seems a bit too into the deaths of the walkers he’d take down; as if he gets some satisfaction from just … whaling on them, perhaps too vigorously.

MINERVA

“Yeah… for the winter that’s coming up, it’ll help a lot,” It was lucky enough that they’d managed to find anything like yarn left in town. There wasn’t a huge amount of it, but apparently it’d been enough to keep Violet busy while she couldn’t really help out with much around. There was still a guilt sitting in the pit of her stomach, seeing the once love of her life like this because of her. Sure, it’d been out of Violet attempting to protect her, but that hardly made her feel better.

Just another person sacrificing themselves to make sure she survived.  What a waste.

❛   THINK  TENN  WOULD  WANT  SOMETHING  ?    ❜           does  she  really  want  to  be  sat  up  making  scarves  for  people  ?            no  ,  of  course  not.         but  she  needed  to  be. . .      NEEDED.           she  knew  what  it  felt  like  to  not  be  chosen  as  the  one  to  protect  the  group   ;   for  her  voice  to  go  unheard  &  her  presence  to  be  swept  under  the  rug.          even  something  as  trivial  as  a  shitty  scarf  was  better  than  dying  with  no  purpose  or  person  to  care.

the girl is bent over,  fumbling with a knife stuck between a walker’s eyes,  her boot pushing on its head for leverage despite the discomfort.  the stranger’s voice shocks the breath out of her,  but mercy raises her hands slowly.  she’s unarmed.  unfortunately.  her lips barely part to speak when a thud nearly makes her flinch,  and a walker lands in her peripheral vision.      ❝  fuck.  ❞      she mutters,  mouth suddenly dry.  mercy turns,  slowly still,  to get a glimpse of the girl.      ❝  thank you.  ❞      she calls,  though her attention still lies with her weapon,  a little too far for her liking.

          the music slowly dies off, violet’s voice tearing louis from his concentration. there’s always going to be something about seeing her like that, that sends a pang through louis’ heart. he’s not sure that he’ll ever NOT feel guilty about being picked over her; about not being able to do anything to prevent her from being blinded. but he tries to shove the feelings down for now, attempting a smile that she probably can’t see anyway, as he half-chuckles and responds, “ well– that’s not a very nice thing to say about my ol’ girl here. —— she’s been through a lot y’know. ”

          then, after a brief pause, he’s getting up and making his way over to her. “ you need something? ”

❛    WHAT  ?       can’t  come  spend  time  with  you  ?     ❜          when  she  loses  the  wall  ,  her  fingers  search  out  the  next  guide  --  happens  to  be  his  arm.          his  frame  is  blurry  in  her  ‘  good  eye  ‘  but  she  knows  his  presence  more  than  anything.        so  ,  as  slender  digits  grip  the  leather  of  his  jacket  ,  she  gives  a  sigh  &  a  squeeze.        ❛     the  sun  was  givin’  me  a  headache.      ❜

    ❝ …I’m not lookin’ at her ass, Vi – not like I could with my neck all fucked up still. ❞ The last thing he really needed was to turn his gaze over there and suddenly be subjected to loaded shots fired at him. A glare procured from the younger, he gave her a momentary fill of it before he lessened the assault to lift his head up toward the sky. ❝ Ya tryin’ to set me up with Clem? That’s funny, ‘cause I swear… ❞ Leg extended out, giving her arm a gentle push. ❝ You’re super horny for her. ❞
