Ping-Pong Rules!

Ping-Pong rules! Yes, it does and to really appreciate it, you want to strive to be the best like any other sport, right? The better you are, the better the game (assuming your opponent is also a serious player) and the better the game, the more likely you are to enjoy it. Everyone needs an enjoyable activity. So, why not make yours ping pong? With that said, I’m here to tell you a little about the game and provide you with some table tennis training (say that three times really fast). Ready to be the ruler of all the ping-pong tables in the land? OK, let’s get started:

1.     What You Will Need:

A Ping-Pong Table

Ping-Pong Paddle(s)

Ping-Pong Ball(s)

Two or Four Players

Optional:

A Scorekeeper

2.     The Basic Rules

Ping-Pong games are played to 11 points now.

If you are playing a match, winning is determined by best of any odd number of games, such as 3 out of 5.

Decide who serves first; flipping a coin is one option.

When serving, make sure the ball is held behind the endline of the table and above table level. The ball should be tossed up at least six inches before striking with your racket. The ball must hit the server’s side of the table before going over the net and then hitting the opponent’s side of the table.

Players alternate serves every two points.

The ping-pong ball can only bounce once on your side of the table before hitting back to your opponent.

A ball in play that hits the net before landing on the opponent’s side, is still in play.

Be sure not to touch the table with your free hand while playing or you will lose the point.
