Despite her own discomfort at the idea of being at an actual party, she couldn’t help the soft laugh that escaped her lips as she got settled on his back, her arms looped loosely around his shoulders. There was no doubt in Irene’s mind that he would get her safely wherever they were going, dropping her wasn’t an option, so she rested her chin on his shoulder and nodded her head slightly. “Well I know what I would make you do, and it’d be awful,” she warned, a grin in her voice.
If she was honest, running into her cousin was only part of the reason she usually avoided the Hogwarts social scene. She hated the looks. Hated the idea that everyone had just up and accepted the blood purity thing being a non-issue because of her very famous uncle. But mostly what she hated were the people judging her, or rather, judging her father, for the things uncle Harry had once told the press, or that had been leaked. Everyone knew the Dursley name to be one of shame, really. And she had no intention of trying to clear that nonsense up. It was easier for her to just keep her head down, prove her skills and talents and just go her merry way. After school she imagined she would rather enjoy going to Italy or Japan and bask in another world of magic.
Hearing his voice she hummed softly her brain taking a moment to process through his words. “Oh, I doubt it will be awful,” she breathed with a sigh of defeat. He had never led her on a poor adventure to date, so she had to give him at least that much credit. “Can I have sugar quills and cream filled chocolates, or is this concert more of a bar food and giggle water sort of thing?” She was never one for drinking, but this might rank on the list of rare exceptions. Still, a sugar quill sounded divine for any situation.
Ollie grinned, knowing his best friend so very well. “Check my pocket. Left one on my coat.” He had made it a point to make sure he had a sugar quill for her, his little thanks for agreeing to come at all. “You think I’d come unprepared? Again, I am offended Reenie. Do you not know me as well as you’re supposed to?” He chuckled, giving her legs a gentle squeeze as he made his way off toward the concert.
“It is my understanding that the show is just a show. It’s in a bar, so giggle water is a thing we could get if that’s what you’re after or you can wait until the meet up after.” He shrugged his shoulders, “You know all you have to do is say let’s go and we’re out, okay? Believe me, it isn’t the biggest loss if we don’t stay through til the end. I just really wanted to show up and support Holly. It’s her band’s first show, ya know?”
It hadn’t taken them too terribly long to get where they had intended to be, Ollie setting Reenie down on her feet as he fished the tickets out of his pocket and handed them to the bouncer at the door. He held his hand out for Irene to take, fingers lacing as he kept her close. “Don’t let go of my hand. I don’t want you to get separated from me. Here we go!”
The pair made their way into the darkened bar, a lovely girl with bright pink hair standing up on stage. “There she is, looks like we made it just in time.” He said against Irene’s ear, so she could hear him without him having to scream. He led her up a bit closer to the stage, letting go of her hand and placing her right in front of him, his chin resting on her shoulder as he kept her close.
“Hi everyone, I’m Holly J. I want to thank you all for coming out to our very first live show. Let’s hope it doesn’t fucking suck huh? “ Holly laughed with the crowd, signaling to her band as they rolled into their first song. Ollie was smiling brightly, speaking into Irene’s ear again, “She told me earlier she was crazy nervous, you wouldn’t know it by watching her though.”
