T A S K 2 : H O M E C O M I N G

I had no date to Homecoming. For days, I sat in my room debating on whether I should be upset about that or not, but I realized that, honestly, I sort of didn’t have anyone that I would’ve asked anyway. So, the only option I had left kept popping up in my head: GO STAG. And now, Homecoming night is here. To my luck, there was a blue suit hanging up proudly in my closet that I could possible squeeze in. Since Tate wasn’t going, I had him take pictures of me to send to my mom, who insisted that I keep her updated on everything here at Redwood. And, of course, she sent me:

Nicholas! My handsome boy! Where’s your lovely date?

The only thing I could be with my mom was honest. I told her that I didn’t have one, expecting a shocked response. I mean, I had dates to all my middle school formals.

Oh, that’s alright! Go by yourself! I’m sure you’ll have the same amount of fun you would’ve had if you took a date. You’re a sweet boy. You’ll find someone!

And to that, I could only grumble and wish that I would.
