"Paradise is just in sight through the distant blue. Above the highest stars to the silent dark, send you all my love. I feel so safe flying on a ray on the highest trails above." - Dee Dee Ramone R.I.P. 21 years ago today in music history.
Today in Music History:
43 years ago today July the 4th, 1976, the progenitors of the genre known as Punk Rock music, from the United States; Queens, New York, the Ramones played at the historical Roundhouse Theatre in London, England.
What made that show in particular so significant was that it was the definitive event in music history that officially lit the fuse that ignited the Punk Rock movement in England & the U.K.
Many young English musicians unknown at the time who would later become first- wave, Punk Rock icons were there in attendence at the show who had already been greatly influenced by the Ramones eponymous album which had been released by Sire Records less than 3 months before and had blown up allover England, all went on to start and/or redefine their existing band's sound thereafter.
That concert gave birth to what became the punk explosion in England, the U.K. and the rest of Europe.
47 years ago today.
