Been seeing a lot of talk about the Gävle Goat, specifically how the year following when it burns seem less...insane than the year following when it doesn't. (Which, considering it burned this year...)

Well, now I really want a South Park Christmas episode where the kids end up having to go to Sweden to personally burn down the goat. Just convoluted shenanigans in which Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman have to commit arson against a Swedish holiday tradition. Hell, make it a Craig And Those Guys (+ Tweek) episode. Make it a girls episode. Make it Butters attempting pagan-level sacrifice in order to prevent himself from being grounded in the new year.

As long as it's some combination of the kids and the goat burns, I will take pretty much anything.

Question: who believes that Cartman's turn to Judaism is legitimate?

I mean, knowing South Park's track record, I wouldn't put money on it, but...well, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

His behavior is consistent with what I'd imagine for someone with his childhood traumas. Even the using Biblical stories as dirty talk, as it's been well-established in the show that Cartman has a very...skewed concept of sex and intimate relationships. I doubt he ever received any actual therapy or counseling for any of it, so him still carrying those skewed perceptions despite appearing to be an otherwise changed man actually tracks.

I would be very interested in how he went from Hitler's biggest fan to a rabbi, as that is one hell of a 180. Did it happen before or after meeting Yentl? Wouldn't be the first time someone converted for love, and considering Cartman's childhood obsession with Kyle...well, an argument could be made.

So, on the assumption that his conversion is in fact legitimate, I want to know how it went down. Because I can see this going either way: legitimate or a long con.

I think it's really interesting the similar yet distinctly different paths Kyle and Stan's lives have taken in Post-COVID.

Stan is desperate to forget the past and move on, and Kyle is desperate to keep it alive.

Stan left South Park presumably as soon as he could, never looked back, and yet...he's living Randy's life almost beat for beat. His alcoholism has persisted, and he even refutes and justifies it in the exact same way Randy does. He's not married to an actual person, but it's telling that his pseudo-relationship with his Alexa is practically a dead ringer for the relationship between his parents. The bickering, the sniping, the hollering---all of it is everything Stan hated about his parents' marriage and yet here he is. He's become Randy 2.0, and I'll bet you just about anything that he's at least moderately aware of that---and he hates it.

Kyle, meanwhile, never left South Park. He never even left his childhood home. Honestly, I'm half surprised he didn't end up following in Gerald's footsteps and become a lawyer. It's both a surprise and honestly not at all a surprise to see him following more in Mr. Mackey's footsteps, becoming a counselor. It's like he's trying to figure out where everything went wrong, and if there was some way he could have changed it. He hasn't become a carbon copy of his father, but he hasn't really changed all that much. He reverts to the same thought processes and paradigms he had as a kid when confronted with Cartman, and while he does seem to try to level with Stan, it...doesn't really seem to work.

Stan is stuck playing out his leg of a generational curse, though he's decided to end the pattern not by getting help but by not building any actual relationships.

Kyle has kind of stagnated, trying to build something without really taking much risk. He's playing it safe, rehashing the same scripts his parents followed with a few changes.

I also think it's interesting that Stan and Kyle have both eschewed romantic relationships with actual people. (I'm putting this down in the aroace!Kyle column and counting it as a win.)

Still can't get over how the Post-COVID Pt. 1 episode gives so much detail without really saying anything. You can tell so much about the trajectory of each character's life just by how they look and act.

At this point, what I really want to know about is Victor Chaos. It seems glaringly obvious that Butters is Victor Chaos, which means that Kenny and Butters have been working together for decades. (Which makes this Bunny fan exceedingly happy.) I want to know what happened that led to Butters changing his name, and what led to him being committed.

I really hope it's not because "committing someone is the only way to ground an adult," with Stephen and Linda as the culprits. I want to see Butters being completely unhinged.

Also, isn't interesting that Kenny apparently kept in regular, close contact with multiple classmates---Cartman, Token, Kyle---yet none of them ever seem to mention or even recognize Victor Chaos, despite Chaos being Kenny's right-hand man. No one even makes the connection between Butters and Victor Chaos. So what's the story here? When did Butters become Victor Chaos? Why does no one seem to recognize him? How did Kenny and Butters end up becoming close enough that "right-hand man" was the go-to descriptor for Chaos' role in their professional relationship?

Why would Tweek and Craig pretend to stay together if it was "for the sake of the town" but then proceed to move out of that town and stay together for 40 years

The fact that Tweek and Craig have canonically been together for forty years in the Post-COVID special just leaves so much open for speculation and interpretation, and I have so many questions.

Did they ever break up and get back together? Did they go to prom or homecoming together in high school? When did they leave South Park and where do they live now? What do they do for a living? Are they still co-parenting Stripe (now #10)? Do they have any other pets? What does their place look like? What were the struggles they faced as twenty-somethings in a crapped-out economy and fucked housing market?

What do their normal routines look like? Are they still in contact with their parents? Do they have new friends, ones they met in college or somewhere else?

I just love the fact that we see them still together, and happy. That Tweek is able to talk about his emotions more openly and honestly. That Craig smiles more than he doesn't. Relationships formed in grade school don't always pan out long-term, but I'm glad that these two managed to beat the odds.

I haven’t watched South Park in a decade but I have a friend who’s a fan and I gotta admit it’s pretty cute that Craig and Tweek stayed a couple into adulthood.

I was also pretty surprised to learn that even though everybody acknowledge that South Park has some pretty bad queer characters, Craig and Tweek are considered some of the best gay representation in media by a lot of gay people.

They stayed the same people after realizing they’re gay, they have other shit going on outside of their relationship, they work on their relationship and make room for each other, are more stable than any other relationship in the show, and most importantly they’re taken seriously as a couple by the writers. The number of times I’ve seen people write a variation of “Why does South Park of all shows have the best representation?!” is very surprising.

What about Tweek x Christophe (le mole)?

I think the ship started in Hell Park and is not as popular as the Creek, Twenny, or Tweek x Pete.

I don't know how that would fit in, but I imagine something entertaining like the ex creating an interrogation of Craig to see if he knows Tweek well.

Hooooooooooooooooooooooooly shit. Dude, I am so sorry it's taken me this long to reply. Still, better late than never, right?

On to your question: Tweek and Christophe. It has been literal ages since I last watched Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, but I definitely remember Christophe. Probably the most interesting one-off character in South Park history, in my opinion!

As for a relationship between them...well, I can't say it would be all that good of a romantic relationship. I don't really see Christophe as all that interested in romance, jaded heretic that he is, but I could see an interesting friendship between these two. It's an interesting dynamic to be sure.

I figure they would have, at most, something relationship-adjacent. Not exactly friends with benefits, but something in that neighborhood. The sort of relationship where is a definite bond between them, and they clearly care about each other, and while it seems to go beyond the feel of friendship, it veered off from romantic and went into some sort of undefined no-man's-land.

Christophe's complete and utter disdain for God and his disillusioned worldview both jives well with Tweek's...Tweek-ness and conflicts with it in a way that makes for a surprisingly interesting dynamic. It's canon that Tweek has looked into beliefs, views, and philosophies that attempt to reconcile the mortal and the divine (specifically his interest in Buddhism), so pairing the guy with little (if any) control over his own life with the guy who's probably in a similar boat but has decided to make peace with it by not making peace with it? Yes, please.

These two are the sort of duo I would LOVE to see in a post-apocalypse situation, because I think they play into each other's strengths and weaknesses well enough to not only survive but to actually kind of thrive.

Now, in terms of Creek our beloved, I could absolutely see Christophe has playing a mildly over-protective role in making sure Craig is good to Tweek. God is the biggest bitch of them all, but He's got nothing on Christophe if he deems Craig unworthy. And it's not so much about worthy or not, it's more about Christophe caring enough about Tweek that Tweek's long-term happiness (if there even is such a thing) actually means something to him.

It's an interesting dynamic, and I apologize if absolutely none of this makes sense. I used up most of my weekly allotment of written coherence this morning at work, and it takes a few days to recharge.
