When someone tries to tell me about a historical event and gets 90% of it wrong

I write a fair amount of historical fiction and this happened in college creative writing workshops like you would not BELIEVE. Some highlights include: *Other students referring to one of my stories as being set in Nazi Germany- despite the face that the Berlin Wall and its construction were a huge plot point in said story. The Berlin Wall was built in the early sixties, over 20 years after WWII ended. *One guy was convinced that the Winter War was something I’d fabricated for the sake of one of my short stories. I had to assure him that the Winter War between the Soviet Union and Finland was indeed a very real event. *People referred to the Finnish soldiers in the above story as “Nazis” multiple times. tl;dr- Everyone in my creative writing workshop thought everything was about Nazis and that the Winter War never happened.
