SilverMantis (Jack The Ripper/Nozel Silva) : The Post

I swear in the very few scenes they have together these two are always finding excuses to interact!

important: this is a post heavily biased on the ship, meaning the interactions are mostly discussed in a romantic manner. it is not meant to be taken too seriously. “You’re reaching”/“They make no sense together” that’s the point, this is the rarepair madness I love. This is a post for fun!

Now without further ado!

Manga Canon

1. Jack, focus on your own fight. Why are you so concerned with who Nozel is up against? 🤨 (even when fighting, Jack teases Nozel + Jack noticed Nozel’s initial struggle, meaning his eyes were previously on him? I know what you are, Jack.)

2. Nozel reprimanding his bf(+ elf Fana)but being not so harsh about it—surprisingly!

3. My favorite SilverMantis scene! (which was BUTCHERED in the anime. i will forever mourn this scene)

-Jack learns of Yami’s(his closest friend)situation and immediately decides to act recklessly—he plans to leave for Spade. Who notices and speaks up? Nozel.

-Jack claims to leave the meeting because it was useless, but he was, really, worried about Yami and wanted to go save him. Nozel immediately figures out what he’s thinking/planning, so he speaks up. Now you could argue with me, but this personally tells me that Nozel knows Jack. In a deeper way that other captains don’t(excluding Yami ofc). That’s my interpretation of this Jack & Nozel interaction.

-Jack is taken aback by Nozel’s sudden anger(we, as the audience, know it’s about Megicula/Vanica)so he takes a pause, which gave Fuegoleon the opening to interrupt and set the meeting back on track. Jack also knows Nozel. It’s rare for him to display blatant fury/strong emotions, so Jack is momentarily stunned. (Again, this is my shippy interpretation!!)

4. Very very brief interaction, but! It’s their last canon interaction so I added it!

5. Banter! Bickering! This is their subtle way of flirting, your honor. (Trust that they fought afterwards and that escalated to them sleeping together. Source: Me, Nova)

6. Okay Jack? After all that? Are you trying to impress Nozel?

Anime Filler

7. I love the lead up to this scene! (This is the filler episode where the captains split into two teams and fight each other)

Jack had been trapped in one of William’s trees for a while, and things are BAD for their team. Nozel says something along the lines of: (this is the dub) You seemed so confident before, Jack. Don’t tell me this is the best you can do! He screams that last part, notably angry. AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER Jack bursts free and easily slashes Fuegoleon & Salamander’s attack. Jack broke free cause he was not having Nozel be mad at him.

Jack: Happy husband, happy life

MMishap + Upcoming One Shot Update!

I’ve been incredibly busy these past few months, but I’m finally getting around to finishing Mishap chp. 12! Not only that, I’ve written a silvermantis one-shot! That should also be posted soon! I’ll try to be more consistent with updates, but I make no promises rn! Anyway, since it’s been months, here’s a little sneak peek of chp. 12 featuring Papa Silva ;)

Naël snapped back into the present, taking a sip from his tea. It had long gone cold, but he could hardly find it in himself to care. His mind was occupied by other, far more pressing matters.

Jack The Ripper.

He had heard the name before. How could he not? After all, he was one of the three Magic Knight Captains with no royal or noble blood (along with the foreigner and the witch). It had caused quite an uproar among his peers back when they had been elected as captains of their respective brigades. Too much of an uproar, as it had reached even Naël’s ears in seclusion. It was hard to forget.

Therefore, Naël had recognized the name in bold ink when his brother-in-law had sent a letter in frenzied words. Three months prior, Lucian had informed him of Jack’s impromptu elopement to his eldest son. (And his opposition to the union). It had certainly been unexpected. After all, the image he had created of his son did not match the Nozel of the news—at all. Granted, that image had been forged with the far-away memories of the times when he had acted as a proper father. Not only that, but all the current knowledge he had of his primogeniture came from hearsay—and Lucian and Gladiola’s letters.

Now, it was safe to assume the image he had constructed of Nozel was flawed. His ego took the blow wholeheartedly. It was bad enough that he had been mistaken about his youngest (Noelle turned out to be as strong as Acier, if the reports were anything to go by), but apparently he had also been oblivious to Nozel’s changes.

(Seclusion had its downside, he would admit. Regardless, he preferred living in ignorance than to see Acier every time he stepped outside, every time he saw their children.)

Nevertheless, back then, although the news came unexpectedly, he couldn’t find it in himself to care much. A great contrast to Lucian’s own melodramatic reaction. The man had been livid, begging Naël to interfere through extensive letters. He couldn’t tolerate a common man marrying into the family, and hoped Naël would see things from his perspective. However, Nozel was the Head of House Silva, and Naël would not question his authority.

Lucian’s letters remained unanswered.

That is, until his latest letter, the one that had forced him out of seclusion.

Silvermantis but it's Nozel's Friends and family hating Jack 💀.

And not for being a peasant, but out of overprotectiveness.

Especially Noelle, since in my AU Nozel is quite literally her MOTHER. Hence having a Psycho step dad. She accepts him quickly, anything's better than Megicula.

Solid and Nebra are a different deal. They're black clover's team rocket with trust and abandonment and daddy and mommy issues.

Fuegoleon goes from being respectful at meetings to giving Jack bombASTIC side eyes.

Charlotte keeps an eye on him but is mostly nice about it.

Also mother Nozel?? hell yeah. Noelle bonds with her psycho step dad and it surprises her, a pleasant surprise! (Not Megicula…. 😭)

Oh Nebra and Solid HATE to see Jack coming. They’re trying to sabotage every single one of their meetings/dates. Jack finds it amusing, Nozel not so much. He wants his family to like his man!

I’VE ALSO THOUGHT ABOUT OVERPROTECTIVE FUEGO BEFORE!!! Like, to me, that’s his younger cousin. Jack better not mess it up because he WILL be hearing from Fuegoleon. (roasted mantis…)

Nozel and Charlotte friendship!!! Yesss I love that!

Hiii it’s been a while, but! I started writing the rest of chapter 10 (Marriage Mishap) and I’m hoping to have it out by the end of the month! If anyone was wondering for an update! Life has been veryyyyyy busy these past few months, but I’m here!!!

CHAPTER TEN IS COMPLETE!!!!

Buuuuut it’s still missing editing so it’ll possibly come out in the next few days!! In the meantime, since I took so long, here’s a sneak peek!

“You’re insufferable.” Nozel said, matching Jack’s playful smile.

“What? Because I learned your stupid royal dance?”

“Idiot, you were pretending to be bad—awful, and stepped on my feet countless times.”

Jack laughed, catching the attention of the nearby dancing couples. “I only started pretending around…the third lesson.”

Nozel’s eyes widened, and he held himself back from kicking Jack again. “Third? Jack. We had a dozen lessons. Were you seriously wasting my time?”

“Yeah,” Jack admitted, leaning down, breath brushing warmly against Nozel’s neck, as he whispered. “It was the perfect excuse to bother you, and watch you squirm. It was very entertaining.”

Nozel swallowed, meeting Jack’s sharp eyes. “Sadist.”

Jack chuckled. “I think you love it.”

Nozel didn’t answer, only rolled his eyes as the dance continued.
