Off-grid solar woodworking shop in Bolton Landing, New York

Being off-grid has worked out so far. On days when the batteries are low and the sun isn’t shining, I carve. When the sun is out, I make sawdust. The small size has kept my work in check. It’s also made me reconsider the size of my future workshop which I still intend to build.

The Cinder Cone in Skamania County, Washington.
In the spring of 2014, Foster Huntington and a small group of friends broke ground on this property in the Columbia River Gorge. A year later, they finished construction on two treehouses, a wood burning tub, and a bowl for skating.
