Imma try something...
SOOOO im going to try A LOW BUY YEAR
In August I started watching Hannah Louise Postonâs youtube channel, which revolved around her 2018 No Buy Year and I was HELLA inspired given the amount of product I have, as well as my spending in the past few years. Therefore Hannahâs Low Buy will be the exemplar for my own Low BUY YEAR
How is a Low BUY YEAR different than a Project Pan?
My Project Pan is an active way for me to use and rotate ALL the makeup products I have, this however does not mean i am not buying more- i am. Granted I am not spending as much as I was, but still its alot more than I would like to be spending. As such, my Low Buy will focus on not spending money, especially on duplicate items
SOOOO here we go
My LOW BUY YEAR 2019 RULES
- I cannot buy any skincare or beauty product, including tools and accessories, such as brushes and sponges
- while I have other products which fit within a given category, including minis, I cannot purchase said item. i.e.: I finish the Laura Mercier Hydrating primer, but have a mini of the MAC strobing primer I must use the strobing primer.
- I can replenish items which break beyond use or repair- if there is no other item within the category
NOT INCLUDED:: Hair Stuff, Nail Stuff, body care
Exceptions
There are some big exemptions to my LOWBUY
- can buy 1 non-essential beauty item per month, and this allotment can be rolled over, i.e., if i dont buy a non essential item in January and February, in March my allotted amount is 3 items
EyeShadows i love acquiring single eyeshadow pans, not palettes, because of this i want to set very strict rules so i dont find loopholes OR fail at my LOWBUY. Therefore i am placing a number limit on the amount of eye shadow pans which will count as â1â non essential beauty item vs. what wont; 4- 12 pans MAX. 14 seems to be the average number of shadows in palette, so this is the number i am setting for myself. I dont think Iv ever bought 14 shadows in one sitting, but i have recently delved into indy Canadian makeup and I wouldnt just buy 1 and pay 20$ shipping. 2 pan âaddonsâ A further guild-line for myself, bc I know Iâll finagle more eyeshadow out of an order; For example; if i make a MAC order of essential items, studio Fix powder foundation, or fix+, I would be sneaky and add an eyeshadow pan, if i was so inclined- which i might be. As such, 2 eye shadow pans will be my maximum number to add on to a particular order.
-I can acquire samples
-gift cards will be treated as cash, for me this project is as much about product waste-fullness as much as monetary waste-fullnessÂ
-beauty and skincare which are GIVEN or RECEIVED by me do not countÂ
-Â I can return products and purchase a product to replace
- I can declutter***Â
when a product is utterly shit, unusable or expired I will finish it. Otherwise I will pass it along to a friend or through it in the bin.
Imats- I might go to IMATs this year (We didnt go last year), if i do go to the event anything i buy at the event will count at 1 non essential item- regardless of how much I buy. However, right now te plan is to visit the Hakuhodo stand as well as Cliondah Cosmetics, if they have a booth this year. the Frends booth is also a contender if they come this year
Thank you & BB
Leslie

November Project Pan?? Travel Makeup
 Hello all
November is going to be a weird one for my bc ill be traveling for 2 weeks of the month soo a dedicated project pan wouldnât be very successful.
I have updated my fall project pan in a note attached to the original post, please check that out if youâre interested. In this post i will share some new products that i am testing, as well as the products I am planning to bring with me. I will also note which items i have been tracking in my bullet journal with a -T
Primer: I am bringing quite a few primers bc i dont know how my skin is going to react to the flight or the London weather
MUFE Smoothing primer -T Mac Skin Base sample mini #2: -T Mac Strobe Base sample mini #1Â -T Cover FX Mattifying Primer mini sample
Foundations: Iv been taking very careful notes on foundation combinations, both the Hrglass and the ABH stick foundations are beautiful set with the Studio Fix Foundation powder, but the Abh one is less fussy, and easier to control in regards to caky-nessÂ
ABH Foundation Stick-T
MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation, N3 (-T) I do hope to finish this guy by the end of the month
Concealer: Huda Overachiever Concealer, NEWish -T (in a separate travel pot)
Powder: my Franken powder -T
IN MY LARGE ZPALETTE
Contour: Smashbox sample
Bronzer: 2nd half of Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer (Original Shade), repressed
Blush NO
Highlight; ok so story time⊠I was playing with the idea of not bringing blush, so i didnt wear blush for a few days, and it felt like something was missing. This sensation was weird for me bc I dont particularly like or enjoy blush. I then explored the concept of a luminous blush which I could blush drape with and forego highlight- that just looked ridiculous on me.Â
I then gravitated to pink-toned highlights which I could bring lower onto my cheeks. I tried this for a good week, I wear makeup 5-6 days a week btw, and this worked well, but i still felt like i had to highlight with a lighter product. My last incarnation of this exploration of blush/highlight was my recollection that I gifted my mother a Beaming Blush MAC Extra Dimension SkinFinish 2 years ago which could also work, so I tried it and it was great. Soooo I took a chunk of her highlight and actually repressed it into a trio with a Laura Gellar Baked Gelato Highlight in Peach Glow, and an ELF Baked Highlighter in Moonstone.
See image below
Eye shadows:Â
PaintPots: Vintage Selection, Bare Study, small amounts in travel pots

UPDATE and REFLECTION on my travel makeup
YAyyy im back and London was sooo much fun and such an amazing experience. there are definitely aspects that were hard and frustrating, but all in all it was great.Â
as for makeup and skincare; disappointing and not fun. My makeup was very simple, and utilitarian but I enjoy being creative with my makeup. That being said I also didnt want to obsess over my makeup vs focusing on the events of the day.Â
Ok onto the reflection on this post
Face stuff I used without issue- also i didnt have much choice
the mattifying Coverfx primer i stopped using fairly quickly bc the skin dried up soo much, and yet i was shiny by the end of the day
I also stopped using the makeshift trio highlighter bc i bought the Solstice and Cleopatra highlighter palettes from sleek
My eye looks were fairly muted, I did focus on liner
Lips:: I mostly wore Blankety and Mehr, I only wore Sin once, its too dark to be an easy colour to maintain
OTHER:: MILK Cooling stick- didnt use
Things I wish I brought, that i didnt: -a cool med brown transition colour. -a standing mirror -a travel makeup bag -hair stuff;, paddle brush, straightener, mouse -Mostly, tho, this applies to skincare, I wish I brought a more intense moisturizer for the evenings
Things I was unsure about that I am SOOO happy I brought; -extra vile of face oil -GlamGlam Supermud, i broke out like a motherfucker
Items that I wish I DIDNOT Bring -Paintpots -franken highlighter
OK I think Thats that
Thank you BB

What I bought in October
in October my No Buy was over and i bought stuff, but I also felt restraint, like i didnt neeeed stuff and more clear thinking, otherwise i would have definitely bought a Pat McGrath palette- I also have the expense of an overseas trip looming over my head sooo that helped!
What I bought:
MAC Sin lipstick and Chestnut lip liner
Sephora Huda Over achiever Concealer
Sephora VIB/ROUGE SALE sephora 57 Concealer brush, Fresh Seaberry Soap, Tarte Tarteist Dream Liner Trio BLK, BRN, Burgunday (Double ended with felt and kohl), ABH clear brow gel
Beauty Bay: zpalette pots

TESTINGâŠtesting
In August I came upon Hannah Louise Postonâs youtube channel, which is dedicated to her 2019 No-Buy Year and I was VERY inspired to try it, especially given the amount of product I have and the amount of money I spend.Â
SOOO before I jump into a NO BUY YEAR, which I am heavily considering, Imma try NO BUY SEPTEMBER
In contemplating a year long NO BUY I feel like i am down playing how hard even a single month no-buy is going to be.
I am going to tack this September NoBuy on to my Project pan, so please check out that post for the makeup ill be using and possibly, tho not likely, replacing. I should be good for Skincare, so although my no buy is a replacement no buy i doubt ill NEED anything.

What I hope to get from this NOBUY

-have the confidence to attempt a NO BUY YEAR 2019
THANKS
Leslie
UPDATE on my Sept No Buy
I feel good having completed the month without buying unnecessary beauty products.Â
However, I wont make it a year, which is what I wanted to do, I know that about myself. Particularly concerning single pan eyeshadows, I get obsessed with a colour and I will buckle!Â
So Iâm currently trying to come up with rules for a LOW buy year, I want to set myself to succeed, rather than fail by buying and then just say âfuckit!â
What I got from this NOBUY, reflection:
-save money?? Hell yeah, Only 1 necessary purchase, Fix+
-analyse spending habits??? it hasnt been long enough for my to do that, but i do really like the freedom of not considering products because its a NOBUY
-self control??? eeeeeeehhhhhh lets see what I order on the 1st of October
-enjoy what I have??? yeah, Iv been a little more adventurous with older products that have been forgotten or rue them in ways i havent before. For example, I became obsessed with a dark burgundy liner vs a harsh black line, so i was looking for gel liner to fit that, which i would have bought instantly, but NO BUY. Soo i used a cream eyeshadow as a burgundy liner- so now i wont buy a new gel/pot liner!! yay!!
-Confidence to commit to a NO BUY year??? NOPE i know myself too well, I will however do a LOWBUY Year with 1 non essential beauty item purchase per month, which can be rolled over and accumulated (Full rules to come in 2019)
While I wont be continuing on in october, i am going to try not to go crazy, but there are things i want to buy:
Laura Mercier powder, mini- my current loose powder isnt oil controlling enough, bought
ABH Foundation stick, I love the Hourglass Foundation stick, however it is fairly expensive for the amount of products, also i prefer a matte finish. at this point theirs also a 50/50 chance that it just wont work on my skin, bought
I am also on the hunt for a darkish brown red lipstick, soo far i think MAC Velvet Rebellion is a winner, but on the search i swatched and fell in love with MAC Liptensity in Dionysus, so that one is also on the list
Sin is the winner, with Chestnut as a lip liner
