It is my greatest honor as Lieutenant Governor to be able to lead a division so dedicated to the core values and ideals of Key Club International. I took office in April, and since then, I have been inspired by each and every member within this division. It is the hard work and outstanding performance of Division 11 Key Club members that sets a precedent for other Key Clubbers to follow.
We have done something remarkable in the first three and a half months of the service year; in the last service year, we raised $6684.90. Two months ago, I challenged Division 11 to raise $10,000 by March 31, 2015. With eight and a half months to go, we have already raised $5,340.26.
Of that $5,340.26, $2,676.00 was donated to the Eliminate Project by Division 11 as a whole. Together, we distributed at least 1486 vaccines and saved at least 1486 babies. If you attended or volunteered at any of these events, then you have contributed to this project: Amazing Race ($830.00), Wrist Band Sales ($170.00), Eliminate Week Project ($521.00), 4th Annual BBQ ($530.00) and the 2014 Divisional Training Conference ($625.00). It has been my greatest privilege hosting these events.
Fundraising is very important, but as Key Club members, we know that service within our homes, schools and communities is much more important. As a member in the last service year, I served a total of 350 service hours, helping out at different events and projects in New York City. I am proud to have so many Key Club members also answered the call to service.
In April, our division served a total of 1487 service hours. In May, our division served the most hours within the district and became the first division this year to break 2000 hours (2093 total); I would like to recognize the Bronx High School of Science for serving the most number of hours in that month. In June, we served a total of 1321 service hours. In total, we have served 4,901 service hours.
I am thrilled to have so many committed Key Club members as servant leaders, and I look forward to the rest of the Key Club service year.
