Myrcella is in the process of being moved to @decreedlore
your girl is sick and can only manage short things.
like this for a MUSICAL THEATRE LYRIC STARTER
vallorous:
there’s a gentle smile when the princess rises at his side, and he could practically kiss her right there, he thinks… but he’s sure it must be the wine infecting his thoughts and planting silly notions into his head as he guides her away from the ears of his men, steps still sure and steady despite the alcohol in his system. “ you know, you need not follow me if you are not tired. i will not forbid you from sitting with your party for a while. or all night, if you wish… although, i don’t suggest it. you need a good night of rest, your highness. ” robb grins, leading the way to his tent, giving hearty goodnights to his men as they pass by, but his gaze always finding its way back to myrcella. he didn’t want her to feel as if she were obligated to do anything just because he wished it or suggested it. he only wanted her to be content with their arrangement and be as comfortable and happy given the circumstances they had to work with. ideally, he’d have gotten to know her outside of a war. maybe he could’ve come about this conclusion eventually without having to draw it down to being purely political. while robb knows he can be quite charming if he attempts it, he doesn’t expect myrcella to ever really love him. he doesn’t see how she could with what he was about to do… and their families. though he couldn’t say he wouldn’t end up as some lovesick fool, willing to die if his queen so much as thought of it.
she feels the wine in her system as she leaves, though she has been drinking for far too many years that a few glasses have an effect on her anymore. when he speaks, she is thankful that he does not wish to treat her as a slave in this marriage, even though she was happy to go with him. myrcella holds a wish to be amiable. she doesn’t believe that she would ever have the chance to marry for love, but if they could be friends, she knows she could be happy with him.
‘ if your grace suggests that i rest, then i will follow your advice. after all, you alone know what the next weeks will bring for your party and i would be unwise to disregard your comments. ’
in truth, she wishes to go with him and be away from the eyes that have been following her since she sat. her party are kind, but she is still foreign to her and she holds no desire to burden them by making the watch her through the night. this man is to be her husband and she knows she will learn to follow him.
she lowers her head and murmurs goodbyes to his men when she passes. myrcella has been taught how to act in every situation, but she wishes her past to be kept from them as long as it can. a lannister in their ranks will not be welcome and she cannot help but wonder why he ever decided that he would be with her despite all the harm that they had caused his family. robert, the man she called father, always wanted a wedding between their families. how much would have changed if this had been his choice all along?
she follows on, silent and courteous and happy that she has found someone in the world who wishes her to be around them. the men each respect their king and now she sees just how rare this man in front of her is.
applesrose:
She could practically feel her grandmother’s eyes boring into her from across the crowded hall. There was no way her mother and grandmother wouldn’t hear of this. Cersei Lannister would laugh herself to an early grave hoarse. This was getting her nowhere. Aerona was thankful the princess would be returning to Dorne soon. How dare the younger girl best her and make her feel stupid at her own cousin’s wedding. May her boat capsize and drown her on the return trip. She wanted to hit her for being right.
Instead, she met the girl’s placid smile with one of her own. “My cousin has the best and brightest minds in the realm at her side. You’ll have to forgive me. I’ve never had a mind for politics.” Aerona concealed her anger with a tinkling laugh. Better to be self-deprecating than endure slights from a rumored bastard. “I’ve heard it’s quite different in Dorne. Women can rule in their own right, can they not?”
she allows herself a small smile when she knows that she has won. it is a great thing to do battle with royalty, even when that battle is passive and polite throughout, and myrcella can tell that this girl has been trained well. she would be intrigued by her, if she did not find her so irritating.
‘ perhaps it would be wiser for you to save the political talk to those who have your cousin’s ear on that matter, then. ’
she smiles graciously at the girl, though her words are a warning to never spar in this manner again. myrcella is the kindest of her family, and she is more than aware that others would not take as kindly to this slight against them. queen’s cousin or not, she still had a head to lose and she knows that there are many who would love to teach these roses a lesson. each one growing above their station with no mind as to the consequences that could follow.
‘ yes. they are more advanced than us in that way. my time there has taught me a lot about my role in the world. ’
ravcnkiing:
“…thank you.”
He looks up at her, eyeing the food she has brought him with wary eyes. His stomach churns once more, so he brings his knees closer to his chest and grips his shins for dear life. He uses the tight grip as an attempt to keep his shaking at bay. “I’m terribly sorry, but I feel it may be all for naught. I do not have much of an appetite as of late.”
she sets the food down on a table for him, not knowing whether she should stay or leave. he must certainly consider them enemies now, but she has never wished it to be like this. myrcella hates her brother for the trouble he has caused, hates his nature and his cruelty.
‘ i understand. but it gives you an excuse to not leave your chambers for a while. no doubt my brother and mother would ask you to dine with us if they thought there was a cause. ’
winterfellswolfqueen:
She frowned, a crease forming in the smooth line of ivory skin. She understood why Myrcella did not understand, why she could not see Arya surviving. But Sansa knew better. If her sister were dead, she would know. The redhead does not know how, but she knows the words to be true.
‘ Perhaps Lady Myrcella, or perhaps it is not I who needs less hope but you who needs to have more. ’
she does not doubt that she needs more hope and faith in the world. sansa has known her brother for such a short amount of time. myrcella has dealt with him for a lifetime. she sees a lack of good in the world each day, and she knows that power will always win.
‘ i admire your resilience, i just wish i believed in the same way as you. please protect yourseld, sansa. it will be a hard fall. ’
applesrose:
Aerona noted her Lannister pride with distaste. From what Aerona’s father told her, King Robert was fond of boasts, especially about his victory at the Trident. Her grandmother insisted he governed very little, but Aerona held her tongue in front of present company. It was an insult to the gods to speak ill of the dead, even more so a dead king.
“Oh, we have songs in the Reach,” she assured her. “And plenty of people to write and sing them. I hear there are some about my cousins now.” Aerona gave a self-satisfied smile at that. Loras’s tourney victories and Margaery’s beauty were the stuff of songs now, according to her brother’s letters from home. They’re not about her though, always about Uncle Mace’s children.
‘ how proud you must be that people praise your cousins. you must think so greatly of the heights they have reached. ’
she stresses the words in an almost cruel manner. no one could claim that myrcella was anywhere close to joffrey in terms of cruelty, but her own pride was biting and she would not be beaten by a nobody cousin to the queen. she knows that this girl cannot call her out for the way in which she speaks, and myrcella is sure to never say anything that could incriminate her and insight her family’s wrath.
‘ i have never heard any songs from the reach. they must not have the style that makes it here to the capital, though i am sure we will find our own for your cousins now that they are so high. ’
from the moment she was born, people sang and praised the young lioness. she was the beauty of the capital, now her mother was older and becoming worn. she has to admit that she loves her songs and poems, loves the way the kinghts would tell of her beauty, even when it was only to promote them with her family.

cerseilionesslannister:
It has been over a decade, yet it still feels wrong to refer to Robert as her children’s father. Still, the lie is well-practiced enough to flow off her tongue like any other words…and the rest of what Cersei has to say is no lie at all. “Your father spends his time outside the castle walls drinking in taverns with men who respect him only because they fear him and gambling away the crown’s money.” My father’s money. “His activities are…unsavory, and on this matter I cannot allow his authority to override mine. He may permit you to go, but I promise you this: ‘twould only be because he knows not what dangers lie out there for a pretty young girl, especially a princess. If he knew what he was agreeing to, I doubt even he would sign off on it.”
she is being petulant and she knows it, but she cannot let this go. all of her life, she has been cooped up in some castle, kept away from people with greater freedom than herself. she sees her maids come and go and she wonders what it must be like to live out there in a world filled with promise. her tactics change away from her father to a plead for her own future, her own life.
‘ mother, my whole life is to be planned and picked for me. i go where you say to, i will marry who i am told to, i will bear sons and take on words and live exactly how i am told to. all i ask, is that i have one day to go out there and be free. i want one day to forget that i am a princess and just be a girl in the world. and then i will return and forget all about this and live the way you wish me too. ’
thebriarbolton:
“I have a terrible habit of wandering around when I cant rest… At the dreadfort its a fine habit to have, as you could walk for hours without seeing anyone, here I guess not so much”
Rose knew she was only making things, worst, and she cursed her curiosity for getting her into this mess to begin with. Still the princess wasnt cruel, or at least she didnt seem to be unlike the rest of the red keeps inhabitants
‘ here, it seems as if you might be trying to find secrets. but you must remember that in the capital there are eyes everywhere. ’
she fears that the next time someone finds the girl, they will be far more cruel than she, though she will not give a real warning. she is perhaps the least of the girl’s worries. with all the birds crawling around, she could easily find herself killed.
ladyalinabolton:
Alina SMILED, a kind, beautiful smile and it was obvious that Alina did not smile as much anymore, if ever. She USED to, as a child, but now? THERE WAS NOTHING TO SMILE ABOUT. Being berated constantly, beaten, talked to as if she were a second rate THING and not a human being had clearly taken its toll on the small girl as she looked into the princess’s lovely kind eyes. IT HAD BEEN SO LONG SINCE SHE’D LOOK INTO KIND EYES.
“Y-Your mother, the beautiful queen, has lo-lovely taste. My mother also picked out my room when I was little. She LOVED to design it for me and make my dresses for me. Of course, my room wa-was…no where near this beautiful, My La-Lady. I LOVED my room though….I of-often still dream of it, daydream about it…I think of my mother in that room with me, brushing my hair…” Alina timidly said, looking back at the door another time before looking back at Myrcella.
Alina’s blue eyes widened at the thought of being a LADY IN WAITING. She couldn’t imagine herself being anywhere WORTHY to be one of the PRINCESS’S friends at all, nor having that honor of being one of HER ladies in waiting. Swallowing hard, Alina shook her head in disbelief, pointing to herself in TRAGIC disbelief.
“M-My La-Lady…I am so flattered and HONORED, but…F-Forgive me, my beautiful princess, but…I have no where WORTHY to be one of your ladies in waiting. I have…n-no skills. I am not beautiful like you are, like your ladies are. I especially am not w-worthy of such honor to be one of the ROYAL ladies in waiting…How KIND it is for you to take pity on me and ask, but…I am surely not…not qualified.” She spoke in utter disbelief.
‘ your mother sounds like she must have been a wonderful woman. and we will speak with the servants to see if we might recreate some of your old room in the rooms you will take here. ’
myrcella would not take no for an answer from this girl. she had made up her mind when she saw how her brother was with her. the young princess could not help but wonder if joffrey would have treated her and tommen in the same way had he been given the chance when he was a young boy. her life would have been different if she wasn’t a princess, and now she was seeing who she could have been. she holds no wish to be cruel or unkind or to use this broken girl to make herself seem better.
‘ do i not decide what qualifies a person to be one of my ladies? it is true that you do not have the dresses to look like one of us, but dresses can be bought as easily as my girls can teach you how to be one of them. i have decided that i like you, alina, and really, that is all you need. ’
her words hold an air of authority in them, coming out strong and decisive. myrcella does not doubt that there will be more arguments that would come, but she does not know if they will be spoken now. she has hope that the girl will settle there, or at least that she may find confidence to help her in the future. myrcella can send her as a gift to a number of people when she is trained and it would be a fast way to get her away from the grasps of her brother. she holds no care for the bolton boy, finding him cruel and too proud for his station.
‘ the first step, however, is a hot bath and something to fill your stomach better for the night. my servants will bring cheeses up as a supper soon, and i would like you to have some with me. ’
annavoncleve:
❝ I am well, thank you for asking. ❞ It’s a relief to see a friendly face, or at least one that isn’t openly hostile. She doesn’t see much of Princess Myrcella, perhaps for the same reason Anne avoids Joffrey. The only thing worse than being a hostage is being a sister to a brother like him, she imagines. ❝ I’ll have to thank your gardeners if I encounter them. ❞
She smiles politely at the thought that comes to her, images of her past, images of home. ❝ My sister Amalia has a small garden at home. ❞ Her voice becomes distant, wistful as she tells her story. ❝ It’s hard to grow anything in the Vale but somehow she manages. It was always a surprise to our guests how she managed. ❞Her beloved sister is growing up so fast. In her letters, she talks of meeting lords of the Vale and their sons, hoping for a betrothal, all while Anne is leagues away, missing all of it. ❝ The soil is very rocky there, you see. Not like here. ❞
She snaps back to reality at that, her face becoming more serious. ❝ Pardon me, Princess, I don’t mean to bore you with my old memories. Are you doing well? ❞
she listens patiently while the other woman speaks of home. myrcella has never seen the vale, but she has been told by her mother that it is nothing special to behold. to hear this girl speak of it, though, is to believe that it might just be the most wonderful place on earth. she cannot deny that there is always a fondness for ones home, though myrcella has always believed casterly rock to be more splendid than kings landing. perhaps it is because she feels there she can be herself away from her title.
‘ please. your memories are not boring to me. they only make me wish that i had seen the vale in my time. ’
she motions the the girl to walk with her, their conversation less likely to be heard in full if they kept moving around the gardens. she knows that even here, her mother and varys will have little birds hoping to find whatever they can about the castle goings on. her ladies hold back, letting them have their moments together.
‘ i am, thank you. i believe my brother is wanting to send me to be married, so i spend my days awaiting knowledge of my fate. and how are you finding kings landing? ’
she knows that the girl cannot answer in honesty, but she asks anyway. myrcella is longing to leave, to get away from the cruelty of her brother and have her own life in her own home. she knows that anne will wish to be away with her own family now, but there is nothing that the young princess can do about the will of her brother. to keep his discarded here and torture her is a cruelty that she cannot imagine.
‘if the king told me to stab myself i’d tell him to fuck off.’
he smiled at the princess knowing it would get a little laugh out of her. with the things joffery did they all needed a bit of lightheartedness in their lives. he brought everything down with his abuse and cruel words brought onto those he should have loved including his sister.
‘mmhm very cute- you’re lucky that you are royal, princess.’
he gave her a roll of the eyes when she stuck her tongue out at him, trying to not seem as amused as he was. once she was out the door he walked behind her, keeping a small distance as he had always done.
‘ and all would cheer across the land, but unfortunately he hasn’t told you to do so, and you still serve him. ’
the king without his soldiers would surely fall, no matter what her mother wished for him. myrcella hates that she prays for an end to her brother reign, but it seems that power has only added to his pride and cruelty. if she finds it hard to cope with him, then she cannot imagine how others must feel.
‘ because otherwise i’d be a more fair target for you to throw daggers at? then i am lucky i remain royal. ’
she walks faster now. she knows that she has wasted enough time getting to her brother and that there will be hell to pay for both of them should she keep him waiting much longer. myrcella is proud and were it just her, she would not give in, but she will not let others be punished for her.
@ofcourtesies liked for a starter
❝ My LADY, your gown is the most beautiful ! ❞ Alys was in AWE at Myrcella’s clothes, she had never seen something that colourful && delicate. Alys was used to the practical && austere dresses worn in the NORTH. Everything about Myrcella was DIFFERENT. It was so EXCITING. The Princess && her family were a breath of fresh air in Winterfell. At that thought Alys grew a bit PALE. A princess && she had called her my lady. ❝ I am sorry. Am I supposed to call you a GRACE ? ❞ Like she would have to do with the KING or the queen. It was a bit confusing for Alys. In the North, she would use Ser, Lord or Lady but never Grace. It was something NEW, as much as the clothes or the hair, that the SOUTHERNER brought with them.
she smiles gently. were the girl to have spoken to her mother, then she would have surely been chastised for the slip up, but she knows that these northerners do not speak with royalty that often. the correct forms of address confused her when she was first becoming used to the ways in which people should speak to her.
‘ your grace is the proper way, but as long as the intent is polite, i do not see why it should matter too much. ’
she glances down at the gown she is wearing. she has had this one a while, but it had been comfortable for her to travel in. most of the gowns she owns, she only wears a couple of times before they go to one of her ladies in waiting. her mother has always told her that a princess should never be seen in the same thing twice and the lannisters have certainly always had the money to indulge their decadence. she thinks for a moment, and considers a show of friendship to this girl. her mother may not like it, but her father would certainly encourage an attempt at kindness.
‘ my gowns are often passed on to my ladies when i finish with them. perhaps, we might arrange for this one to be gifted to you during our stay here. ’
Davos was silent, crying himself even more at Myrcella crying. For a time he just stood, brooding and sobbing. In the silence he became acutely aware of the company he shared. As Stannis reminded him and everyone else, Myrcella Lannister was a bastard and the realm owed her nothing, which meant Davos didn’t owe her his kindness. Still something niggled at him. Their chance meeting was from the Gods, he knew it as well as he knew his own name. He didn’t owe her an explanation yet he gave as much of one as he could. He didn’t owe her any comfort yet he tried to give some all the same.
“She was. I know she loved you. She loved everyone but she loved playing in the courtyard with you. And telling stories with you. She often asked Stannis when you and Tommen were coming back to Dragonstone.” Shireen never took to Joffrey, like many who met him. Davos could confirm that he was a little terror and Shireen too gentle for someone of his demeanor. “Shireen is with the Seven now, may the Mother watch after her.”
tears fall freely from eyes that have long past taught them not to fall. she has known loss before, and it has never touched her like this. shireen, the best of all the baratheons, spent her life untouched by evil. in her heart, myrcella cannot understand why the gods would take her darling cousin from a world that needed her light. the salt tears run down into her mouth, but she makes no move to hide them. grief does not care for the looks of a princess.
‘ she loved you, too. ’
her words come out weak.
‘ shireen would always speak of her onion knight to us when she stayed in kings landing. you were another father to her. ’
her arms reach up around herself, cuddling herself in as much as she can. myrcella has never been one for hugging, but now she wonders if she could block all of the pain out by never letting this hold go. she weeps for her cousin, for the uncles she had once loved so much, for the homes that were being destroyed. she weeps because she can, because there is pain, and here, she is no more a princess.
Welcome back ^^
thank you, anon!
I am home!!
my week away was amazing and just what i needed but i missed you all and i am back now. with so much to get done. replies will come steadily over the next few days. as i get them done!
