Someone should be watching that girl. Hell, does she even have parents? The only person I’ve ever heard her talk about is her grandma”.

“yeah, i googled it just to double check --- she’s seven! i think we were all pretty bad at that age” sophia replies, she laughs with him. “of course! i mean her monkey boots kinda looks out for her, but i wouldn’t be suprised if he was seven too. i’m sure she has parents, really? maybe she doesn’t then, maybe her grandma needs to look out for her”.

elliot just laughs and shakes his head, thinking of the animate character and how ridiculous it all truly was. “ well you would think her parents wouldn’t let her if a fox was trying to kidnap her. or, did we ever think that she ran away? maybe her parents are desperately trying to look for her. “ it was a dark thought but he shrugged anyways. who fucking knows, right?

sophia had a lot of time on her hands to think about these kinds of things, either that or she’d just watched too much dora the explorer. “no, you’re right. i’m sure they’d be pretty pissed. she could’ve done ya’know that would make much more sense. a normal parent wouldn’t let their child do that”. sophia replies.

“that’s what i call independence and entrepreneurship. the girl is already an official explorer by the age of seven? it really is impressive. the fact that she is being stalked by a predatory fox is what really concerns me, and that she knows exactly how to get him to go away? super weird, girl should get a restraining order. it was matty’s favourite show and i always watched it with him, so i’ve had a lot of time to make sense of it all.”

“it’s impressive but it’s also scary, i mean just look at the world we live in. oh god that freaks me out as too.but then again a big part of the show would be lost if we didn’t get to see swiper doing his infamous swipe --- her parents should know about this fox! eloise loves it too, i guess i’m just going to have to get into it with her and we can have in depth dora the explorer chats” sophia chuckles a little.

A loud sigh escapes through petal lips and the girl sinks back into her chair with arms tightly crossed over her chest.

Sophia listens to the girl speak, “I’m sure your animals will be okay. As long as they are safe inside your house” She gives the a smile. She cuddles Eloise close to her chest, this was the first time the small girl had been able to experince a storm. “I’m fine with them, it’s El I’m worried about” Sophia tells the other.

sophia and eloise were in the middle of a mum & daughter date at the roasted bean, when the power went out. sophia’s first instinct was to scoop up eloise into her arms and hold her close. she was scared, what was going on? “it’s gonna be okay babygirl” she whispers to the small girl in her arms. she had to put on a brave face for her daughter of course, eloise couldn’t see her scared.

william had always considered himself a family man, especially after his father died and he’d become the patriarch of the family. however, children weren’t in his near future, possibly ever, so he had to get his fill by spending time with his friends who had them, mainly consisting of alex and sophia. “gumbo, i think. eloise will love it, won’t she?” he spoke the last part to the toddler directly, earning a big smile in return. “that’s good, i’m happy to hear it.” he smiled up at sophia. “and everything’s going well at the diner?”

sophia and eloise always liked to go visit william. they always had a lot of fun with him. “sounds yummy doesn’t it el?” eloise nods, with a grin on her face. “yummy! yummy!” she says to william. “yeah it is. ah will, that’s sweet of you to say” she smiles back at him. sophia nods, “diner is fine, it’s getting a little repetative but it’s fine” she shrugs.

jo knew that it wasn’t healthy but it also wasn’t like she could help it. it was just how she was. little to no sleep was a norm for her. when she slept at night it was the length of a typical nap and then she would keep going. at least her little bursts of sleep normally gave her enough energy for a typical day of work. “oh, no. that’s alright. i’ve got leftovers from last night back home, so i’ll probably eat later. and rest then, yeah.” that was her plan. if she couldn’t sleep she would watch something on netflix or work on her music. “that’s good t’hear. and eloise? how’s she doin’?”

sophia knew how the girl felt. she often had days like hers, due to how busy she was. it was even more stressful when eloise was a baby, as she often didn’t sleep through the night. she does now, but only just. “good! rest is the best thing, you might get ill if you don’t” sophia tells her friend. “yeah. she’s doing alright actually. she’s at nursery today. so i can get some chores done” sophia gives her a smile. “they’ve been talking to the kids about family, i think she’s a little confused as to why she only has me whereas her friends have a mum and a dad”.

logan grinned at the blush that crept across her cheeks. “anything for you,” he explained, trying his damnedest to charm her. he chuckled at her response to his cheesy line, shaking his head. “is that right?” he asked, turning his eyes from the house and glancing at her. “well, i may just have to show you my ‘favorite place to hang out’ next time.” of course, he meant that the pair would have to go his house for their next date. “compared to other bachelorette pads, you’ve got it made,” logan followed sophia into the living room, sitting down on the couch. he expected her to follow suit, but she quickly disappeared through another door, returning with a pair of wine glasses. “ah, perfect,” he said, taking the wine glasses and bottle from her hands and pouring them both a glass. “i hope you like red,” he comments, handing her a glass and waiting for her to take a sip first. “if you don’t, i can run out and find us something new.” as the pair continued on, he shrugged at her question. “she doesn’t like that i look after her, but i’m half afraid that her mind is starting to go,” he explained with sad smile. “anyway, i’m still waiting to understand the mystery that is sophia moore…” he pressed with a grin. “tell me more.”

all of a sudden she felt like a teenager again, and she was enjoying it. she’s enjoying being a normal twenty one year old, whose on a date with a handsome man. but eloise was always in the back of her mind. sophia knew that at some point she’d have to come clean. “hm? you shouldn’t of said that” she teases. sophia nods, with a grin gracing her lips. “ooh, that sounds fun” she replies. sophia listens to him speak and a laugh escapes her lips, “i have my parents to thank for that. they helped me get this place” she tells him. sophia was going to sit down but she thought it would be better to get glasses first, she could also just stand in the hallway for a few moments and listen out for eloise. god she hoped the little girl would just sleep through the night. sophia returns to the living room and sits down next to him on the couch. “yep” she hands the glasses over to him. “this is going to sound really lame but i don’t drink all that often” she tells him, “although in my limited time drinking, i have tried red wine and liked it” she says. sophia takes a sip, “mhm. good stuff”. this was perfect. sophia smiles at him. “no need” she listens to him speak, “i honestly just think it’s a parent thing. they want to look after us, not the other way around. i’m really sorry to hear that logan. i hope it hasn’t” as she spoke again another laugh leaves her lips. “well there’s nothing much else to know, honestly there isn’t” sophia pauses for a second and leans back on the couch. “alright, so i’m twenty one, i work at the diner. i have two younger brothers, they are twins. i like dogs like a lot, my instagram feed is full of them. i enjoy cheesy rom-com movies and i have never ever watched an epiosde of game of thrones in my entire life. i’m more of a breaking bad girl. happy?”

he smiles, extending the flowers. sophia was a worthy recipient, seeing as she already had her hands full with eloise. “gift. to the bakery, for catering a birthday party.”

sophia takes the flowers from him and gives them a sniff, they smelt wonderful. “ah that makes sense. well whoever gave them to you guys had good taste. they are very pretty”.
