“I got it, chin up.” Freya smiles up at Loki, and shrugs. “I’m not falling, just thinking. Apparently your grades senior year actually matter.”
ofrcvenants:
“I know.” Raynor was soft as he spoke to her, he always was. He got a glass and filled it with water, placing it in front of her. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“Thanks.” Freya shrugs and sips the water. “I just--” It was a topic she’d been over with him, and one she was hoping to be able to move past. But the dreams of that girl lying there, and the horrified screams of everyone else wouldn’t leave her. “Sometimes I wish I could actually turn back time.”
❝ let me help with that. ❞ / @ofraynordottir .
“ i’m fine , “ zoe responded , quite ABRUPTLY. “ thanks for the offer ! but i have this handled. “
Freya hesitates. “Are you sure? I can, um, make something to help you with that. Temporarily.” She was trying to take advice and use her powers for positive things.
ofviictories:
the short answer was no. the long one, that she couldn’t give, was that just when she had felt as if she had moved a few step forwards, she had been set a great many back. victoria was supposed to be better than falling for hallucinations. she had to be, if she wanted to survive, and still - she had faltered. “i’m better,” it was not a lie, nor was it the whole truth - but it would do. “especially now that i’ve seen your face. i’m not…- sure, what i might have done, had anything happened to you.”
Freya is glad to hear Victoria is doing better at least, though she can’t help the skepitcal smile she gives at the second part. “Nothing happened to me though. So it’s fine, right? Now it’s just a whole lot of clean up.”
teddybrocks:
“yeah, yeah, sap.” he smiled slightly, eyes on his hands as he looked away from her. “i guess you could say i got yours, too.”
“Shut up,” Freya chuckles, a little embarrassed by her own sappiness. Still, the storm had reminded her of how far she’d come and she couldn’t bear the idea of losing her friend. “How’d your mandated clean up go? Your partner not too awful?”
ofrcvenants:
“You do not have to apologize, Freya.” Perhaps it was a dad move or maybe a therapist one, but Raynor got up and put an arm around her. He guided her to the kitchen and sat across from her. “The mist brought back a lot of baggage for a lot of people, this is it, isn’t it?”
Freya leans into Raynor’s arm, allowing her walls to drop here with him. There’d always been something about Raynor that let her do that, even before he’d adopted her. “...Yeah. I couldn’t sleep, I just...”
Raya already found herself bored, twirling the trash picker between her hands absentmindedly like you would a small staff while she waited on her ‘buddy’ for the day. It was a reminder of how long it’d been since she trained with one – Not that she particularly needed it on earth. She only ceased once the girl came into view, and the co-ordinator left them to their own devices. “Do you think if we just bunked off they’d ever actually know?”
@ofraynordottir
Freya was used to picking up trash--it was a common low level punishment at her school before Paragon. But she wasn’t so fussed about it right now, just glad that the storm had passed. Honestly, she was still zoning out a lot, distracted by the hallucinations she’d had during the event. So she didn’t quite hear her partner when she spoke. “Huh? Oh. Um, probably. They have, like, telepaths, right?”
“know that we’ll still have each other.” @cfcarolinestark
“that sounds awfully…serious..”
accepting sentence starters
“Only if you make it serious, dumbass,” Freya teases. “Still. I got your back, okay?”
ofviictories:
“i was coming to check on you.” she would have come sooner, had she known about the mist and what it was doing to the students of paragon. if she’d had any inkling that her nightmare come to life wasn’t real…- if she’d been able to work through it, and if she had known that freya was perhaps going through something similar, she would have come sooner. “after the mist. i wanted to make sure that you were okay.”
Freya smiles at that. It was a strange relationship she had with Victoria, but one she valued a lot. The elder mutant never failed to make her feel protected. “Thanks. I’m okay.” She shrugs. It wasn’t easy, being brought back there, forgetting Paragon and Raynor and everything that had happened after that horrible incident. But she was doing okay. “Are you?”
@ofviictories
“Oh. Vicki. Thank god, it’s just you. You scared me.” Freya wasn’t sure who or what she’d thought it was, but after the storm she’d had nightmares about her old life and for some reason she had a feeling her subconscious thought someone had come to get her.
@ofrcvenants said: ‘ it’s 4 in the morning, is everything ok? ‘
If Freya was honest, she hadn’t looked at the time before heading over to her dad’s room. She definitely should’ve though, regretting waking him up already. “Uh. Yeah. It’s just--” The fog had brought back a lot of stuff she tried to bury, so she hadn’t actually slept. She’d honestly thought it was about 10pm and that Raynor would still be awake. “I’m sorry. I thought it was earlier.”

TW: death, bullying
Meet Freya Raynordottir!
Freya was born to a single mother who did what she could for her only child despite being without many support systems. She supported Freya, especially when she found out that Freya had ADHD.
When Freya was eight, however, the police came to her classroom and informed her that her mother had been struck by a speeding car and killed. Freya was suddenly alone in the world.
With nowhere else to go, Freya was put into foster care.
She withdrew, becoming an extremely quiet child as she bounced from house to house.
By the time she was ready to be open again, she was in middle school.
Without many friends, Freya became a target for bullies. She started to try to act tough, to keep them away, but in reality she was lonely and longed for true friendship, someone who’d understand.
In her sophomore year of high school, everything changed again.
Freya’s powers manifested at school, startling everyone. Although her illusions caused a little trouble at first, that wasn’t where the trouble was.
The trouble came when some older, manipulative girls realised how desperate Freya was for friends and how easily she could be manipulated.
They took her in, making her believe they truly liked her, and then during summer, they conned her into using her powers on a girl they hated.
It was harmless, just a scare, Freya reasoned.
But her illusions were far more powerful than anyone knew.
Instead of scaring the girl, the illusions began to hurt her. Really hurt her.
The older girls didn’t care, egging Freya on, threatening her.
Freya, overwhelmed by everything, tried to stop, but her powers got away from her. She blacked out, and the next thing she remembers was police sirens and someone screaming that the girl was dead.
The older girls turned on Freya, and said it was all her idea and that they tried to stop her. No one really believed Freya; it fit their idea of the weird girl with powers.
Freya very narrowly avoided jail after it eventually came out how she’d been coerced. Instead, she was forced to see a psychologist who specialised in powered teens.
Enter Raynor Lokison, the best thing to happen to Freya since her mum died.
Freya spilled her heart out to him, and became close with him until one day he offered to adopt her. Freya had long ago given up hoped of adoption; no one adopted sixteen and seventeen year olds. She agreed.
She moved to Paragon, finished up high school and decided to go onto university here.
Although the trauma of two years ago is far from gone and still haunts her, Freya has found more friends here than she could’ve imagined.
