falling in love. | BUY | by BURNEDINTOMYHE∆RT
Listening to her speak, Luan almost smiled a hint only to frown at the conversation returned to her marriage. He didn’t say anything though and furrowed his brows slightly as she trailed off, seemingly losing herself in thought before returning again. “Peer pressure is a hard thing to turn down,” he murmured, not really knowing what else he could say about the whole subject. It wasn’t as if she was the only one who was a slave to impulsivity. After all, he was only nineteen years old and already a father. That wasn’t something he had planned to happen so soon and after leaving Kio, it didn’t seem to fit into his plans anymore. With one decision, everything he had ever wanted seemed to dull and all he really wanted was the lavender haired female before him.
Staying silent and almost losing himself in his running thoughts, Luan nodded his head a little before offering her a small soft smile as she caught herself rambling. “Impulsive isn’t bad all the time. I mean, sometimes it’s good.” Luan stated. As long as it wasn’t her running off to marry some other man or sleeping with another man, he thought impulsivity could be a beautiful thing. Thinking all the time was draining and sometimes it was nice to just act and let the cards fall where they may. Expressing his condolences, Luan nodded his head again, frowning a bit as he did. Even if he didn’t love Dylan as she had him, he still loved her deeply and missed her. He could even tell that Edan had missed his mother and sometimes when the child woke up crying in the middle of the night, he couldn’t help but feel like it wasn’t him that he was crying out for. Like the child was waiting for his mother to come and comfort him instead. Even now the thought broke his heart and he wished that Dylan was still there. Not for him, but for their son. "Thank you." He whispered sadly, tears beginning to build up in his eyes and blur his vision, but as he reached up to wipe them away before they had a chance to spill over, she added that she lost a chicken as well. If the conversation were lighter, Luan might have breathed out a laugh as the chicken was included in things like friends, but, he knew how much Kio adored chickens. She had an unnatural affection for them, making him frown deeply. "I’m sorry to hear that. Why would they go after a chicken? That’s just horrible. She didn’t do anything to them…. And they call us the animals.." There was disdain in his tone now, a clear hatred for hunters that more times than not branched out to humans as well. Years and past experiences had taught him that humans were vile creatures. Selfish and violent. They destroyed all they touched and kill what they didn’t understand. In truth, he had really grown to hate him and if anything, that made him even more angry. He didn’t want that kind of hatred in his heart and longed for the days where he didn’t really have an opinion on them. Days where he didn’t know the horrible things that they did to other species, when humans and hunters were the very last things on his mind, but in a way, he had to be a little thankful for them. Not for the pain they had brought him and his packs, but for bringing him to the girl before him. Blood spilled and lives were lost, but it brought him love. It was a sick sort of balance and while he hated that loved once died, he was thankful for fate bringing them together. How strange it was. Something so horrible and traumatizing could bring so much joy in the end. If he didn’t know better, he would have thought that someone was sitting among the stars and pulling strings. He was nothing more than a puppet…but the idea sent a small chill running down the length of his spine so instead, he pushed the ideas from his mind and put all his attention back on the girl before him before leaning down to give her a kiss. While, kissing a person who just informed you that their chicken had died could have seemed in poor taste, he had a great need to. If only to tell her that he loved her without words. He needed her to know and needed for her to know that despite all the terrible things, he was so very thankful to have her in his life.
Bringing up trying to work on her impulsive decisions, she was surprised he could think it could be a good idea seeing as it was part of the reason he was as hurt as he was before she bit her lip for a moment. "Not if you put a shoe in a blender..." She mumbled before looking at him. "Don't worry, your blender is safe. I stopped doing that after the 3rd blender..." She tried to assure him only to venture off in thought, thinking over putting his shoe in a blender. "No, no, I'm sure. I'm sure your shoes are safe." She quickly gave a nod, giving him a firm insurance that his shoes were safe now. Even if it was pretty soothing when she was angered or annoyed or simply wanted revenge or attention. Though after quick second, Kio tried to give a quite innocent stare. "But, does that mean I can get Cricket a chicken?" Cricket most definitely needed a chicken. Even if he were young, he could love a little chickie to love with her.
The small moment quickly faded as she attempted to return her condolences, bringing a frown to the small female as she quickly caught sight of Luan's tears that surfaced. Reaching out, Kio lightly sandwiched his cheeks between two small hands, though she had to stand on tip toes to remotely reach, or even stand on Luan's feet but she didn't suppose he'd like that at the moment of grievance. Though once the conversation went back to her chicken, she frowned deeply. "Largetha slept in bed with me. After one yelled they found a pretty one, I just rememeber seeing Largetha's feathers fluffing up like when she was angered and I heard the blade hit while I was being dragged out..." She continued sadly. They treated them like game. Even if her lover half turned into a fish like tail, she was no animal and Adam was once human, far from animal like except on full moons when his hunger surfaced and Luan might as well have gotten everywhere on a white hoard in her opinion.
Just as all the sadness of their pasts pushed on the door to flood her memories, the store quickly was pushed back and diminished as a pair of soft pillowed lips pressed against her own, taking her off guard for a moment before she quickly moved her lips against his, returning the wolf's kiss. As if their conversations had never happened as Kio began to snake her arms around his neck. His love did not waver as she had first feared and from such a kiss, she prayed meant he would stay, even though he wasn't who she had actually married as she once had a dream of and at times wished, especially after they had said their goodbyes at one point. Instead, leaning her body against his, she felt eased and at peace once again. A feeling she had long missed, she didn't want to leave this position or part lips, but she had to breath eventually. Though she still leaned against the male, staring up admiringly she offered a loving smile. "I missed you. Would you like to go on a date with me, sometime?"
I wanna tell you How much I love you
Luan watched as she closed the space between them before her pinkie gently reached out to touch the fingers. Stopping his movement, he glanced down and carefully took her hand as she returned his love. Looking to her, the teen frowned a shade at her apology but shook his head. “It’s okay.. It’s not like you knew we were going to meet again.” He mumbled, unsure if should even be apologizing. While her news upset him and the idea still made his stomach turn in knots, it was her life. Besides, he had her now. Maybe that was a selfish thought, but once in a while, he allowed himself to be a little selfish. “I’m sorry for your loss though..Sucks when a friend dies..” Or husband, but he wasn’t about to repeat those words.
Allowing the male to take her hand, Kio gently take his a light squeeze while looking up at him revealing her small frown. "I hoped I would, though. I prayed for it, even after I went to England... I told myself I needed a change of scenery, but nothing helped. After my idiocy, I felt..." Trapped. Lost. Like she had destroyed everything she tried to work for and her prayers to the gods would then go unheard. Aphrodite wouldn't put her back to where Eros had destined her to be and the fates would turn their backs. If she could, she would put their shoes in a blender, too. Even staying in her own home for month until she over heard some of the other staff talking about her, she found herself running in circles. "It was a very hard uphill struggle, because I do stupid things. I am also very easily peer pressured.." She admitted sadly as her frown deepened. Nurses and envious interns were little assholes, to be kind about it. And she should have honestly signed the divorce papers when she found out about the affair before one of the other doctors in her small group of friends had talked her down. "I am trying to work on my dangerously impulsive behavior... Moving here was the last one. I just wanted to move as far away as I could and this hospital needed me for the time being so it really worked out.." She rambled on for a moment, catching herself the small female began to bite onto her lip. Though being given condolences on whom he referred to as a friend, Kio smiled, though saddened, his possessiveness did bring a smile to her face. "Thank you... I'm sorry you lost a friend too." There was no chance she'd call Cricket's mother anything other then a friend either. As selfish as it were and perhaps unsavory, she couldn't help it. Luan was hers, he was always hers even from miles away. "They killed my chicken, too." she added after a moment, still saddened over the loss of her little friend.
It seemed as though slowly the two were gravitating toward one another. Hearing her say that she would stay, Luan moved a step closer, closing just a bit more of the space between them. He wasn’t sure what to do now. He still was upset. Knowing that she was married still made his chest ache, but regardless of both of their pasts, one thing remained; their love. Dropping the hand that had rubbed his arm, Luan took to rubbing his fingers together instead, looking to Kio in silence for a moment. “I love you..” He whispered, breaking the heavy silence at last. He didn’t know what else to say, but he wanted her to know he still loved her.
Closer and closer like colliding planes of the earth crushing into each other, earth quakes happened when two pieces loved each other they wanted to become a mountain together. That was how she felt as she slowly closed what little space there were left as she looked up at the male once dropping his arms. Slowly reaching out her scarred arm to lightly touch his fingers with her pinkie. "I love you, always." She returned his words softly, though she could quickly pick up that he was still in pain from her news. "I'm sorry."
Speaking of the events that led them to this place, Luan frowned deeply and dropped his gaze again as he continued to rub his arm in a self soothing motion. However, he looked back as Kio spoke again, her words bringing comfort. He watched her for a second, trying to think of something to say, but when she offered her to leave, he finally spoke up. “No.” He stated, the word coming out quickly and without thought as he, again, stepped towards the woman. His cheeks heated up as he bit his lip and looked at her and whispered. “I don’t want you to go..”
Still watching the wolf as he rubbed his arm, the growing need to go to him pulled at her though she resisted the urge. She didn't want to upset him further by invading his space though after offering to leave for his sake, Kio looked up at the male who grew closer now and rejected her offer. Daring a small step closer, "Then I'll stay." She spoke softly in reply. She'd do just about anything for him. Though she called him her moon, he was really her sun and she took orbit around him. Though she wanted to tell him she loved him, she wanted to say she was sorry but she was at a loss for words. Would they take it day by day now or was Zeus telling the fates to change the tides?
The conversation was painful to say the least, but there was some relief to know that she couldn’t love the man just as he couldn’t love Dylan. Though there was guilt there. Dylan had deserved better than him. He knew that and planned to let her go only for her to wind up pregnant. Listening, the male kept his arms wrapped around his torso, almost hugging himself as she spoke. He wasn’t sure he wanted to hear the details of their marriage, but there was a strange sort of comfort knowing that she had still thought of him. Still, it hurt to know that even with him on her mind, she married this man. He couldn’t really understand why she would do it—even with alcohol involved. Marriage just wasn’t something he thought people should get into. For him, it was forever. Plain and simple. Even his father had stayed married with the wrong woman after falling for his mother. It was just how it was.
Asking where Adam was, Luan frowned deeply as he found out that Adam had died. While he could have allowed himself to think about the fact that she would still be married if the hunters hadn’t come, that didn’t matter now. Listening to everything they did to her, he found himself feeling sick with a mix of emotions. There was clear sadness, but now anger began to brew beneath the surface. To know that someone had hurt her like this… It made him want to track them down to give them a taste of their own medicine. Looking to Kio, Luan took a small step towards her, opening his mouth to speak only to stop and shut it again as she asked about Edan and his mother. Rubbing his arm, the male frowned and dropped his gaze before speaking quietly. Edan’s with my mom’s friend and Dylan died… I couldn’t get to her in time. She died trying to protect Edan when the hunters came. They track down large packs and try to take us out…” Biting his bottom lip, he forced himself to look at her with sorrow. “It’s why we are here. It’s safer. Here people can hear us scream…”
Standing in the center of the room, the mood of the room still swaying with mixed emotions that radiated from their bodies as Kio tried to explain her mistake of a wedding while she listened sadly about Edan's mother. Like Adam, hunters got to her and though she was on the same boat as Luan for her feelings towards the female wolf, she had to give her respect for giving her life to keep the child safe. "Oh." She mumbled though Kio wondered what Luan's plans were had she lived, she didn't want to know. She knew Luan all too well and choosing another family while he was still her family despite her attempts to fill the gaping hole he left in her life, the idea hurt too much to linger on. This brought the realization that this might have been what Luan felt. "No one could ever fill your place. You're my family and where my home is." She whispered softly almost as soft as leaves rustling in the wind. Though her words might not have been any comfort or help, she just wanted him to know. "I tried looking for my Moon... I didn't think I'd ever find my home again." She admitted before softly adding, "It's not an excuse or reason, because there is no explanation for what I did.. I'll go, if that's what you want. I might be back by morning and wait for you but I'll leave." She offered, lightly clutching the little wolf the hung on her neck she named after her beloved brother.
Having his question shot back at him with only the pronoun changed, Luan almost flinched and his frown deepening as he moved to wrap his arms around his torso, but before he could answer, she spoke again and told him not to answer. Pain etched itself into the center of his chest, slowly but surely making itself at home as the male looked at her and listened. The words ‘my husband' hurt more than he thought they could and the teen almost cringed as they left Kio's plush lips. They sounded all wrong and a large fraction of him begged him to turn around and walk back out. Put distance between himself and the suffocating agony of this conversation, but he stayed put and listened. So, she didn't love him. As relieving as that was, he still couldn't understand why she would marry someone she didn't love. And where was he? Were they divorced? Separated? Perhaps he was waiting for her to return, hoping to reconcile and continue their lives again.
The idea alone made him ill and without thought, he took half a step back, putting a little more space between them. “I didn’t love her. Not like I should have..I couldn’t..,” he stated in a hushed voice despite her not wanting to hear his answer. She needed to know that. “Why did you marry him? Where is he? If you didn’t love him, why would you marry him?” The questions came quickly now. All things he needed to know. Even if they hurt, he needed to hear it.
The conversation just become more and more agonizing as they went but it was important that they spoke. Talked all of it out, no matter how much it hurt the both of them. She could see clear in his pale blue eyes the pain just her words alone brought and though she could easily guess he was trying not to react to her calling Adam her husband, that was what he was. There was no sugar coating it or making it pretty, just the ugly truth in all it's glory but words couldn't describe how grateful she was he didn't run. Not yet anyways but still stepping away from her, it made her ache down to the bones from her tightening in her chest.
It took a lot for her not to show the small amount of happiness it brought her with relief that he didn't love Cricket's mother, though it did bring on her guilt. Where was she anyways? To think that she were still in the picture or worse, still with Luan, that made her blood run cold and an instinctive hiss want to bubble to the surface. "Then, you should know I couldn't love Adam." She replied softly, barely above a whisper. "He knew about you. That caused a few fights... Our wedding night we spent in his bathroom until I couldn't finally manage to get myself to go home because I couldn't stop crying... For you. I couldn't pretend to be strong anymore because he wasn't you." she rambled on while her voice became smaller and smaller, not sure if that was a story to share. Or if Luan would finally realize how screwed up she really was to cry over another man when realizing her husband wasn't him. "I didn't intentionally marry him... After a few drinks at the bar we all went to and talking about how I wanted something permanent when I got my rejection letter from the adoption agency, he started a joke that I could get married. We found a boutique and tried on some of their wedding clothes as a joke and laughed at each other because we were idiots and looked just as ridiculous as we felt but it was fun to prance around and people getting so excited, we had to go past the court house to get to the housing close to where we lived but we just walked in the court house and suddenly we were married. It wasn't special or pretty, it wasn't how I wanted to get married and I didn't even want to get married but for that moment, it felt like a game. Turns out, it wasn't a game so much as it was in our heads." And the fact that she was trying to not think about Luan, to pull herself out of the depression she had dug herself in just to dip a little deeper and start covering herself with soil, it was a good cocktail for disaster.
Though the question of where Adam was now, Kio frowned deeply. "He died. He was killed when hunters broke into our home but I don't remember much except being dragged out of bed by my hands and feet like a dead carcase of a deer while they laughed and made jokes about what they were going to do to us." One again her voice cracked, still able to hear their laughs while they home was set aflame. "They were talking about what I might be so one got out his knife and cut my night dress and started to cut me so Adam broke free from the one who had him and tackled the hunter with the knife away from me. I tried to help but he said run so I ran... i lost a lot of blood but one of our friends who was a witch kept me alive and when we went back... I can still smell his burning flesh. I can hear them breaking into my room and shouting and feel the blade in my arm." Soon she spoke in a hushed tone between gritted teeth and she tried to keep the memories at bay but they were much too fresh in her mind. Playing with her nails as a couple tears fell and panic filled her once again until she could look up at Luan. "Where's Edan? ...Where is his mother?"
Walking back to his home, Luan tried to think of something to say. Call him slow, but it was still a lot for him to take in and while he had a lot of questions, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to hear the answers. His heart ached terribly and he was more than a little jealous when he allowed himself to think about another man touching her, another man kissing her lips. Though it made him sick to think about, he couldn’t help himself. Perhaps he was a glutton for punishment.
Opening the door, he closed it behind him again to find Kio standing in his living room again. He could see that she was upset, worry clear in her eyes. For a moment, he just stood there, looking at the girl he still loved with every fiber of his being. “Did you love him?” He asked at last, needing to know this answer above all else. Did she love the man she married. She had to, right? Why else would she marry him? Unless she had a child with the stranger. A kid he didn’t know about.
Standing there like a fool, she could only imagine how pathetic she must have looked there just pulling at her fingers nervously as she tried not to break down, just glued to the floor. Should she leave? She should have just left. Though once the thought crossed her mind, unable to bring herself to look at what she imagined was possibly disgust in Luan's eyes as he watched her before he finally spoke. The question surprised her. He should have known her better but then again, she did manage to stay married to Adam long enough to become a widower. Finally meeting Luan's gaze, bewilderment behind her once again saddened eyes and a soft frown pulling at the corners of her lips. "Did you love her?" She blurted out without a thought but the question sent a sheering pain through her and she quickly held up her hands. "Don't answer that, actually, I don't want to know. I can't know..." She lowered her voice in an attempt to hide the crack in her voice as she bit her lip, taking another second to think about his question. "Adam, my husband, was a good man. A good friend... I loved our friendship, but I didn't love him in the way a wife is supposed to and I'm not sure if he loved me. Actually, sometimes I'm sure he didn't... He just wanted to help." She tried to explain as best she could but how do you explain half a bottle of booze and a surprise wedding after they spent half an hour laughing at each other for looking silly all dressed up for a wedding?
