Be careful with your words. Once they are said, they can only be forgiven, nor forgotten.

I won’t kiss you. It might get to be a habit and I can’t get rid of habits.

“We can’t jump off bridges anymore because our iPhones will get ruined. We can’t take skinny dips in the ocean because there’s no service on the beach and adventures aren’t real unless they’re on Instagram. Technology has doomed the spontaneity of adventure and we’re helping destroy it every time we Google, check-in, and hashtag.”

9.7.13 I didn't get into UBC but here was a part of it that i didn't turn in... :/
I have a wide range of interests, which lead me to take an advertisement course last semester. This class was from 5-630 TTH, which would be a time of day that most students are awake and getting ready to eat dinner or head off to another organization meeting. Ironically, this advertising class was the class that I had the most trouble staying awake in. My professor was amazing, the content was interesting, the class was very well-structured, but I was simply not used to having back to back classes in these later class hours while starving.
in the end, i figured that i should stay in the class, since i realy did enjoy the content and did learn a lot of marketing skills and terms from this course. i developed a new persepctive on advertisements and the world as we see it today, filled it advertisments everywhere! it really did open up my eyes to the small things that i had never noticed.
i tried gum, coffee, myself, lifting my feet up in the air--nothing would work. I eventually just took a quick nap right before class started, which actually cured my nodding off in this class.
it was definitely worth it because i learned about the world around us and how much subliminal messaging and unnoticed advertisements that might be subconciously affecting our perceptions.

To say it and actually mean it, and who you say it to, and how you say it. Yeah the "omg people say the three words too often". But just saying "I love you" isn't the only way to tell the people you love that you love them.
Love is also a movement. It's action. It's tucking someone in when they're too tired and accidentally fell asleep. It's going out of your way to make another happy. It's running small errands for someone even if it's a chore. It's compromise-- not "my way or high way". It's sharing food. It's encouraging someone to try their best, and motivating them to be the best they can. It's kissing them goodnight. It's putting them first. It's fitting your schedule to theirs. It's helping them go through the tough times. It's getting through the tough times together. It's loving them even when they don't love themself.
Note to self: Written about Ed when I couldnt find the words to say to him in person. i wrote this only for myself. no one else has read this.
it flew.
it sunk.
it flopped.
and flopped.
and flopped again.
it looked a little darker.
and then suddenly broke through the surface again, causing a ripple.
did it resurface for another breath?
we can only wait and see.

My parents might not have been members of Lions, but that just makes me the first Lion in my line of family.
"One dark and gloomy homework night, I saw my friend Sandy studying with Jee Ho in a study room on my floor. I walked in... CREEEEK. and I said hello.....
Soon enough, Jee Ho screamed, "Stephanie! You should join Lions!" I went to my first meeting that tuesday after, and I immediately loved it. Instead of volunteering with ABSA, i started volunteering with Lions. Walking dogs at Animal Shelters, eating plants and cleaning up the at the Wild Basin Nature Preserve, and painting walls and each other at the MIcrofarm and Graffiti clean up!” I've loved the Michi Ramen & Strange foods ritual and I can't wait to take on these odd experiences with every single one of you.
LP - Marketing Team & Collaboration
Within the organization Asian Business Student Association, I am on the Marketing Team. On the Marketing Team, I have gotten better at working with others projects. Last semester, our team was split into two to compete against each other in a friendly mock case competition. This semester, we are expanding the visibility and marketing outreach of some companies.
As I learned from Strengthsquest And Leadership Program Retreat, one of my strongest trait is individuality: keying in on the talents of each group member. New to case competitions, I looked up to upperclassmen, the veterans. I listened to their experiences dealing with case competitions and the advice that they had for developing solutions and presenting strategies for and to the company at hand. Formatting Powerpoint slides and working with paint were my strengths in this project, so after I finished my slides, I compiled all the slides and made them look pretty and coherent. Other members had their respective traits that were all brought out in this project. We diligently worked and put our heads together to come up with a creative solution to a problem. Our collective effort brought us the victory against the other team.
This semester, the Marketing Team has been helping various companies with their marketing strategies. By bouncing ideas off each other, our ideas get better and better. While some us more creative, the rest of us are more logical. Our idea generators spew ideas while our logical half keep our ideas in check to make sure our goals and projects are still realistic. Having a good variety of people keeps ideas fresh and keeps a system of checks and balances within the group. As the name suggests, Marketing Team is a group of individuals working together to improve what is put in front of us and solve the obstacles together. I have seen a lot of collaboration on all our projects. Collaboration means being on the same page as everyone else. It also means letting everyone speak their mind and then compromising on a plan. Different talents collectively breed a well-rounded team that is striving accomplish a common goal. Nothing would have been accomplished without collaboration. Being a leader is about gathering a group with great dynamics and chemistry. The strength of the wolf is in the pack, and the strength of the pack is in each wolf.

Organizations - Elaborate on the type of activities and leadership roles you held during your involvement with the organization (i.e. committee chair, officer, active member).
Collaboration is working with others in a common effort. Collaboration multiples group effectiveness by capitalizing on the multiple talents and perspectives of each group member, and on the power of diversity to generate creative solutions and actions.
Slowly, slowly, sweetly.
Next to the other, it silently sits.
Waiting for the moment, it's chance, it's time.
The lights dim as the night falls and moon rises.
The one inches ever so slightly towards the other, and then not.
The electric fire is in the air, and the sparks and wires are on fire.
The heat is rising, and no amount of ice could cool it down.
The time goes by fast, the time is turning towards the last
Second in the frame. Hoping that the moment will come at last.
They dance. They sway. They explore the terrain.
It comes and goes and nothing's changed but maybe ashes from the fire.
But maybe something has. The newly heated hand-warmers, the newly charged batteries.
The two slowly recline, but with a better understanding.
Though nothing has happened, everything had happened.
Bright lights streaming across the sky,
Streaking the dark velvety abyss above.
Another diamond glides across my peripheral vision,
And I wonder if I would have time to make a wish.
The moment fleets fast, and the time has past.
I may not have had the wish, but I can still dream.
Let’s Persevere towards Success and Happiness.
