Sorry if this gets too personal, you can ignore this if you want! But when people say Spottedleaf's Heart didn't exist (especially when it's because it makes Thistleclaw OOC) it really hits me hard, that's exactly what people used to do to me, tell me I wasn't abused because it didn't fit their view of him. I too wish the book was never written the way it was but it was! Spottedpaw was abused and it's bad to pretend that didn't happen, also for the real people who might have experienced the same

No, I completely understand. It would be one thing if most of the people saying it were survivors who would rather not have to think about the content of the book, but most of them seem to Thistleclaw fans who just hate that his character was “ruined”. I don’t think that book should have been written the way it was, but... it’s literally a published book. It happened. It’s canon. I didn’t experience CSA, but I was abused by a parent and I totally relate to having people say my abuse didn’t happen because it wasn’t how my mom acted. It’s a bad argument for the sake of holding onto a terrible character.

Do you have any advice on how to write in the pov of a deaf cat?

This is an area I don’t have a lot of experience with, so I’m going to link some other posts here that seem helpful at the bottom. My two big recommendations would be to:

1) do research on deaf cats and cat body language—deaf cats in the warriors universe shouldn’t really be missing out too much on communication! A ton of cat communication is done through body language rather than through speech like humans. Implementing a form of sign language or simply having the character aware of what other cats are communicating through body language (ex: a friendly flick of the tail, stiff and bristling, ears pricked curiously, etc) would go to help readers understand what’s happening and keep your character aware of what’s going on around them.

2) read about how to write deaf people. it’s hard to know how to perfectly write from the point of view of a cat, since we aren’t cats, but understanding the perspective of a deaf person can help you better write a deaf character. i recommend the same with any trait that you’re not familiar with, whether it be being trans, having ptsd, etc. I’d also just generally recommend talking to deaf people—I’m not deaf myself so I can’t tell you what is or is right to write about. This also means being open to criticism about how you portray the character! Again, this goes for any character with traits you’re not familiar with, especially when they’re marginalized.

To be honest, I can’t really say definitively if he will be revealed! It’s still Oakheart like in canon, but it’s a little harder to find a realistic place to put it in here since they’re whole-heartedly believed to be Thrushpelt’s kits by ThunderClan. So... we’ll see!

She didn’t! I like the idea of flipping Mapleshade’s motives for tormenting cats and having her go after mothers that don’t value their kits or toms that are unfaithful to their mates, since she 1) never got to raise her kits like she wanted, and despises anyone that would turn their nose up at having the motherhood she never got to have, and 2) still feels bitterly betrayed by Appledusk and wants to punish anyone who would act like him.

She didn’t have a relationship with Crookedstar, but she did torment Rainstorm (Rainflower)! The Widow can usually only be seen when she wants to be seen, and so no one believed Rainstorm when she started going on about how she was seeing a ghost and being harassed by it. She had a lot of sleepless nights and fruitless hunts after she turned her back on Crookedstar.

Ugh that one guy was being ridiclous by calming Squirrelflight was abusive and Finleap wasn't. How stupid. But enough of that and yay for WhiteTiger! It's a low-key ship of mine and I think it's awesome how it's canon here. Can't wait to see what else happens, keep up the great work!

Oh right sorry! Ravenshadow is a mostly black with splotches of white she-cat. She's a bit of a loner and sometimes can come off as slightly cold to other cats, including kits. Though, that's just a front as she does have people that she opens up to. While, she is a medicine cat ,she has had training as a warrior apprentice so she isn't afraid to get her claws dirty if needed. Towards the end of her apprenticeship, she decided to become a medicine cat on her own terms.

I’m kind of picturing her as a ShadowClan or WindClan cat, but she could probably fit anywhere! Sometimes if I’m trying to figure out where to put a character I try to picture them in as much detail as I can physically—I try to think about questions like...... are they lanky or bulky? Long-furred or sleek? Would they do well in water or mud, or do they prefer dry paws? Those kind of details usually help me when trying to place major characters somewhere.

probably not! I haven’t planned beyond the first series at all yet. If I do write past it, I don’t think I’ll re-write Firestar’s Quest.

She just became a warrior while Fireheart was away! It was only briefly mentioned in the last chapter. Her name is Grasspelt, and Minkpaw’s name is Minktuft!
