Hello! I am applying to study at Massey (Wellington campus) from Chico State in California. I am a Media Arts major which means I will be taking classes under the Creative Media Production Major. I also may take some upper division classes as well. I am only going for a semester as well. I wanted to know what classes you recommend, places you recommend seeing, and anything else. I've enjoyed seeing your adventures!
That's awesome! You'll love Wellington. The city is art itself. Explore as much of it as you can. I recommend walking around and trying a new cafe whenever you can. There are tons. Try to catch a rugby game at some point too. It was a fun cultural experience with the Kiwis. I took mostly production courses when I was at Massey for Video and Sound and loved it. There is a much stronger sense of independent study at the school as well. Classes usually only meet once per week for a lecture/demo/discussion and then you're working on projects and course work outside of class. It's an adjustment, but I loved that way of learning much more than here. Take road trips! That was one of the most memorable aspects of my time in New Zealand. I can talk for days about my experience abroad, so feel free to ask me any more questions you have, and best of luck! I'm so genuinely stoked for you :D
After a long time away and a day of too much caffeine, I have the time and energy to update the many things I’ve been up to in the last month. Between break and group projects New Zealand has been keeping me quite busy :)
Stedicam induction number one. Much lighter than anticipated.
School, sun and beanbags 👍
Took a walk through the Wellington City Gallery :)
First rugby game!
Got to take a tour of Park Road Post Production for class. It was like an extremely large house. I would work there.
Jason Julie Maria Annah and Christine explore the South Island of New Zealand for two weeks MUSIC: The Weeknd - i can't feel my face when i'm with you Taylor...
Because we could. This is us as we attempted to dance our way through the South Island of New Zealand.
Went to visits some seal pups at Ohau Stream just outside of Kaikoura. They twirl in the water. I’ll have footage of that up soon :)
Staying dry and checking of another cafe in the city :)
Got the chance to take a tour of Avalon Film and Television Studios for class. They even let me operate a camera for a bit.
I swear they have the best shaped bottles here.
Enjoyed a wine tasting at Murdoch James winery :)
Trying a new cafe today: Lamason. Amazing food and coffee, not to mention the people working here and the atmosphere. Loving it.
Michael Hedges, a sound mixer at Park Road Post Production, gave a lecture today for my audio paper. Met his Oscar for his work on King Kong as well 😊
Settling in to see my 4th and 5th movie at NZIFF.
