She was starting to wonder if Hollow Grove was the place she needed to be, the first month hadn’t exactly been smooth sailing and it seemed her luck wasn’t changing anytime soon. Victoria had gone to speak to someone about a job that she’d walked away without getting, something she was a bit annoyed over. Stepping into the elevator to leave, she found herself standing next to someone she could have gone a hell of a lot longer without seeing. Oliver Hastings, the one night stand who’d sent her crawling out his window and shimmying down the drain pipe to keep his nieces from seeing her. A noble reason, but no less embarrassing. She sighed and gave him a curt nod, pushing the button to send her to the ground floor. As the elevator lurched to life, they moved down only slightly before the elevator came to a grinding halt, Victoria throwing her hand up on side to keep from falling over. Shit. She closed her eyes and squeezed, willing it to start moving again. Opening one, she peeked through and spoke reluctantly, “I’m guessing we’re going to be stuck in here for awhile.”

Witches were everywhere in this town, and yet somehow they had Clave members attacking, buildings falling to pieces, and elevators deciding to stop working. He didn’t understand how magic could exist, how his best friend could have crazy powers, and how shit like this still happened to him. It really did feel like he was getting the short end of the stick these days.
Oliver hadn’t really had to acknowledge her when he’d first gotten in, at least not beyond a nod that informed her he’d actually seen her. Beyond that, though, there didn’t seem to be a necessary interaction between the two of them. The last time they’d seen each other had been awkward enough, what with him correcting her and pointing to his window when she’d tried to leave through his bedroom door.
“I guess we are,” he said, reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out a small flask. He’d had a feeling he’d need it today, mostly because hospitals were never pleasant. He just hadn’t anticipated that this would be the situation that brought it forth. “You want some?”
