@disquieters
Being a provisioner definitely had its perks, as evident by the paper bag safely tucked inside her rucksack. Chiefly constant access to supplies and ration were one of the benefits, but more importantly, spirits. Alcohol was quickly becoming a rare commodity, and since it has not quite outlived its usefulness just yet, it was quick access to having new friends. Already she has gained Neve as a drinking buddy, and it was exactly for that reason that she was trudging towards the Bergan Mercy Hospital. It was early in the afternoon and the sun was at its highest peak, although the cold, biting air indicated otherwise. Her campsite, Rodeway, would’ve been perfect it wasn’t too far away from the Library, but at least it was near the two other known campsites. She knew that at one point she’d have to cease her dillydallying if she still wants to keep a good head on her shoulder. But for now, she was looking for ways to get distracted.
Heading towards the Emergency Room entrance, she came from the side of S 75th St., not wishing to alert the horde of zombies lying in wait at the parking lot. Unlike other campsites where she could get a sigh of relief upon entering, the Hospital was a different matter altogether. The blockages the survivors of this camp managed to put together didn’t look so sturdy, and it was best if Olivia still kept her guard up. She quickly went to one of the ICU rooms—the one where saw Neve at the last time she visited, which was presumably Neve’s own living space. Upon seeing that it was locked, she silently cursed to herself, damning the lack of proper communication modes during times of apocalypse. Going inside one of the opened doors she could find, she immediately interrogated the person inside. “Hey, have you seen Neve around? You should know her—selfless and holier-than-thou leader of the Hospital,” she rambled, walking towards a chair and unceremoniously plopping down on it.

Her eyes light up and she races forward, waving the woman after her. Being able to read books whenever she wants is one of the best parts about living there, and Mary’s always happy to lend them out to anyone who drops by. If there’s any reason to return to camp early, that would definitely be one of them. “You already finished the ones from last time? How long has it been, a week? Two?” She’s not sure she should be surprised, given there are far less time constraints than there were before.
“Really?” Her eyes widen in surprise, not having expected Olivia to actually want to get to know her better. The look of shock on her face softens to a faint smile as she shrugs. “Yeah, why not?” This reminds her that she really doesn’t know all that much about Liv herself, so she adds, “but you have to tell more more about yourself too!” Learning things about people just so happens to be one of the best parts about making friends, she’s always found; especially because everyone has a story to tell. “Someone waiting on me? I’m not uh, sure that I do, no. Especially not back home. That boat has sailed and probably sunk by now. How about you?” She grins, leaning over to lightly elbow her in the side. “What about you? Any special friends waiting on you?”
Olivia quirked an eyebrow when the other girl ran ahead of her, slightly shaking her head, almost calling out ‘Careful, you might trip!’ There was something about Mariella’s energy that seemed pure and unbridled, sort of like a child. It was refreshing, honestly. “Yup, I have them with me,” she said, patting the backpack on her right shoulder. It contained four books on different kinds of mythology—Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and Celtic. Quite useless if truth be told, remembering Freddie’s scoff when he caught her reading. But it was definitely interesting. Normally, she wouldn’t return the books anymore, but since it was Mariella who lent them, she didn’t want to lose the girl’s trust. She breathed sigh of relief once they reached the Library.
Rolling the tension off her shoulders, she let the smell of books calm her—and something else that she tried to ignore. “Nah, not really. He might hate me forever, honestly,” she shrugged. “I’m beat. Anywhere here that we could take a rest?” She knew that the library had some comfortable spaces, more so than even the Inn. Her camp was suffocating, to say the least. “I’m from Brooklyn and I’m pals with Captain America,” she joked.

He smirked at her compliment but simultaneously dug his hands into his pockets and stared shyly at the ground. One of the only pros of having worked hard in his father’s soon-to-be-his business was having gained some muscle, God knew the poor kid needed it. “Pretty much, but I like the distraction of work. I like using my hands.” He went around kicking the tires of the same car that Olivia was checking up on to make sure the air pressure was still there. “A lot of people tend to come by the fence though. Strangers from other places too. Some are rude. But some are nice, friendly even. It’s nice knowing they’re still out there.”
At Jo’s revelation, Olivia narrowed her eyes at him. “Does this mean that you’ve never been outside the fence?” she asked, sounding as if she was saying something scandalous, but her eyes were glinting at him. The dude truly looked like he needed to take a break. Truthfully, she was also not supposed to be dilly-dallying around for her own safety, but most especially for her twin’s sake. She felt like an all-time jerk for constantly worrying him, but she couldn’t help herself. “Oh, tell me about it. Some really weird people out there. Be careful!” she said, a sing-song to her voice.

gvurdings:
Crouched near some brush next to rodeway inn, she uses the greenery as cover to make it look as if the inn was not guarded. Those without common sense would simply believe the illusion and that’s what she counted on. So far it had been quiet. A few walkers here and there that she could easily take out with her machete. Actually, she was itching for human interaction. Someone who would question her authority. She craved a fight. Moments pass and then suddenly she hears footsteps. To the untrained ear, it could have sounded like a stray animal or a walker, but thanks to her father’s training before the world went to shit, she knew otherwise. Gun is cocked upwards towards the sound and free fingers are wrapped tightly around the handle of her machete. “Show yourself! Or I swear to God, I will shoot your ass!” She doesn’t stand, not completely giving away her position, and waits.
Sneaking out from her brother especially when he was preoccupied with treating someone has become a normal occurrence as of late. She thought she was being sneaky and quiet enough, hence her heart nearly failed when out of nowhere, someone shouted at her. The voice was oddly familiar and when she realized who it was, she breathed out in both disbelief and relief. “For fuck’s sake, it’s just me. Olivia,” she informedd, looking towards her surroundings, trying to pinpoint where the voice came from. She didn’t notice it at first, but now that she was intently searching for it, she could see someone crouching behind the greenery. She trudged towards it, her heart slowing down to a normal beat. “Should’ve known it was you. Hello, warrior princess. Still wanna shoot my ass?” she lightly teased.
jolenebrewer:
“That’s a warm welcome you’ve got there.” Thieving certainly hadn’t been her intention upon coming to the inn, but she supposed that once time came to move onwards to another location that she wouldn’t hesitate to knick a few supplies. It would have to wait until after a reunion with her mother, only then could she steal in good conscience that none of these faces would pass through her life again. “I’m not taking requests today so you’ll have to find somebody else to draw your portrait.”
Olivia walked behind the stranger to look at what exactly she was sketching. It looked like the Inn. “I mean, I am by far a prettier subject than a dingy old hotel,” she observed. The stranger looked tough and prickly, not unlike someone she knew even more than herself. “You know, you don’t seem too bad,” she judged, perhaps too quickly. “Are you looking for a place to stay?”
frcddieb:
“I don’t push anybody away. Sometimes I just… choose not to react. But why on earth would I put myself in such a vulnerable position? People are dying every day, Vee. If I end up falling in love with someone and they die, what then?” He reached out to gently pinch his sister’s arm. “Relax. I’m fine being alone. I have work to focus on. And keeping you from dying over a pack of cigarettes.”
Freddie’s grin disappeared completely and he was on his feet in half a second, grabbing Olivia’s pistol from her bag. He peered back at her, his dark eyes wide and anxious. “Get back behind the bed. Jump out the window if this gets bad.”
She swatted at Freddie’s hand when he pinched her. “Fine,” she said with a roll of her eyes. For now, at least, she thought.
“Wha—” she started to raise her voice in indignation, but stopped when she realized that it could attract even more attention. She decided to obey Freddie’s order just to satisfy his need of keeping her safe. For now, she thought, again. She also noted how he took her pistol, leaving her virtually defenseless, and most likely trying to stop her from doing anything stupid. “Okay, okay!” she loudly whispered, muttering a ‘geez’ at the end. “Secured and safe. Now go and check out what it is!” She hoped Freddie was not in the habit of locking his bedroom.
joxpacker:
“Shut up, really?” Jo took the paper bag and opened it to reveal two glorious bars of Snickers. A large grin quickly took up half his face as he opened one and gave it a bite. The boy didn’t think much of it, but this was the first time someone had coaxed a genuine smile of his part. “Oh my God. Thank. You.” He tucked the wrapper around the rest of it and placed it back in the bag, all the while treating it as if it were gold before wrapping Olivia into a suffocating hug. “I don’t want to imply that I can be bought with a snickers bar.. although to be clear, that probably is my price, but you’re my favorite here.”
Olivia’s laughter was cut midway by the sudden onslaught that is a hug. Her shock fell into resignation, as her face melted into a fond smile. “Okay, okay,” she pulled away from the hug. Although there was no doubt that Jo could probably punch a zombie to death if he had the guts, he was still the type that needed to be protected. She hoped that she had done her part in making him at least the tiny bit happy. “Gosh, you can break me in half with those arms. Not bad for a brat,” she grinned. “Ah, well, don’t choke on it, ‘kay? We still need you around.” She walked towards one of the cars, opening the door and testing the sturdiness of the fence. “So, is work the only thing you’ve been up to all this time?”
siwazurisurvives:
Siwa chuckled gently, shrugging as he looked at her. “I mean… that’s very fair. Men are terrible at the best of times.” He responded, musing on his own experiences dating both men and women. Looking at the blender he raised his eyebrow. “If you really need it, we can always trade.” He offered with a chuckle as he crossed his arms slightly. “Trust me, I hope I do too. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” The response was delivered with a smile, however he knew his own fear of his inner demons was still showing somewhat. “The building has, yeah. Just the parking lot is still quite dangerous though.”
She briefly looked towards Siwa with some sort of respect at his statement. “Woah, so you just admitted the truth about men and their horrifying tendencies.” She gave him a small clap, not meaning to mock him but thought that he was actually deserving recognition. “That makes you better than most men,” she smiled. Waving her right hand away at Siwa’s proposition, she said, “maybe the right word would be needed. My mom used to own one, but then it broke down just before...everything happened.” She let out a laugh, not wanting the mood to become sombre. “But I’m not here for a pity party. So. What are the attractions in this place?”

odélin is not a dog you walk past without sparing a second glance. no, most people that walk by odélin tend to look over their shoulders over and over as they rush to get away from a dog that looks like the hound of hades. yesenia knows that somebody, somewhere, in omaha can say they’ve seen odélin. “ it’s okay, ” she sighs out as she tucks the photo away into a deep pocket for safekeeping, “ that’d be nice, liv. juro por dios, i doubt odé can sit still long enough for me to find him without help. ”
Throwing the book carelessly inside a random car—didn’t even look when she did—she crossed her arms in a manner that was already second nature to her. “How’d you even lose sight of him? Were you that distracted?” she asked, going around the Inn’s fence, and heading towards Beverly Drive east of Rodeway. “I mean, where do we even start?” Probably the only reason Olivia was helping because she was bored out of her mind, and this seemed like the kind of trouble that wouldn’t actually kill her.
battingbabe:
“ —— you like watching me in action?” diana arched a dangerous brow, the ghost of a coy smile threatening the corners of her full lips. but… she didn’t crack. sarcasm did settle heavy on her tongue though, as per usual. slipping her baby spiked bat back into her pack (not before scanning the tree line for any unwanted company), diana stepped over her not so fresh kill as if it were a fallen log; making her way rather lazily over towards the familiar brunette. to give her the proper attention.
a small laugh fell from diana’s lips, olivia’s remark met with a roll of the eyes that bordered on playful. “oh, you think i couldn’t live without ya’, huh?” she drawled, folding her arms as if she were considering the woman — although a far less serious air about her now. “hm… i guess you’re —— okay.” there it was, the brief flicker of a smile as she glanced up at olivia through thick lashes. “irreplaceable? i don’t know about that…” it was hard to keep up her brooding, admittedly. suddenly her shoulders loosened, unfurling crossed arms as hands found their place on her hip. “oh yeah, tell freddie i said ‘fuck you’. i’m going to punch him in the jaw next time he tries to ‘disinfect’ a cut with pure alcohol.” despite the visible annoyance in her tone, there was no malice. and she wouldn’t punch him, probably. just, y’know… annoy the shit outta him. so, the usual.
a mild curiosity tugged at diana’s brow, at olivia’s question. “how come? … — you lookin’ for an adventure?” there was a dare, lingering amongst her words. there usual was, when it came to diana.
She lifted her shoulders in a nonchalant manner, a knowing smirk on her face. “Well, it gets boring at camp sometimes. I would do good with a lil’ bit of action,” she teased, drawing closer to the other woman. “But, seriously. I needed some air.” Olivia let out a gush of breath, the tension slowly melting away in her.
“I’ll be sure to relay the message,” she chuckled. “I’m sure Freddie boy can take a few punches.” Walking away from the copse and into the paved road, an uneasy expression fell into her face, obscured from Diana’s view. Normally, she would have joked around yet again, but Diana somehow always brought a different mood out from Olivia. The one where she didn’t have to mask her true feelings with unbridled humor. “Don’t you ever have nightmares?” she asked, the tone playful but the question heavy. “There must be some reason why you’re not in bed right now, sleeping like a baby.” Honestly, what sort of person could sleep soundly at night in light of the apocalypse? One she’d definitely be wary of. These days, Olivia wasn’t sure anymore of who to trust. Perhaps she was even more afraid of the actual living, than the walking dead.

She wasn’t the bad guy. Casey thought she didn’t look much like one but kept the thought to himself, he knew better than to criticize some random woman’s looks–pretty as she was–though maybe she would have find it a compliment in their new world. ❝ Well I’m not the bad guy. ❞ Casey was wary of his own shadow, especially now, so he had to hope she wouldn’t take too much offense. His offense, or rather hurt, was back when she declared Alex dead. Death was a sensitive topic for most but the subject had a rather harsher sting for him lately after the ‘ ICU patients situation ’ at his camp. ❝ You.. you don’t know that. ❞ He didn’t know that Alex wasn’t dead either, but this world was fast-paced and dangerous, he knew she was most likely right; that didn’t mean he had to give up hope, give up on Alex. ❝ Like, an hour? Is… is that too long? ❞ The rules of the apocalypse were hard to adapt to, the idea that an hour missing meant people ceased to exist didn’t digest well. ❝ Um… down that street. We were supposed to check those houses but we decided to split up and cover more ground that way. ❞
Upon realizing that she has probably hurt the young man’s feelings, she settled for an indirect apology. “Hey look, I’m not digging your friend an early grave. I’m just really rude and brusque, but I do mean well. Just some future advice in case we see each other again.” She gave him a smile, genuine this time. “Okay, now that we’ve established we aren’t the bad guys, introductions are in order,” she gave him a pat on the back, not minding how much force she put into it. “I’m Olivia from the Inn, and if you’ve seen a 6′4″ monstrosity who looks uncannily similar to me, then you have already met my twin.” She started to jog towards the direction he pointed out, sharpening her ears for any signs of struggle. “You much of a fighter?”
