A MIND MAP ABOUT MIND-MAPPING

If you know me, you’d know that I am a highly visual person. I love learning from images and layouts, and my spatial intelligence is probably my strongest type of intelligence. Because of this, I often use mind maps to study, and so do a lot of other people. However, there are people who don’t really know how to make and utilize a mind map effectively. That’s what this post is for! Here’s how you can make your mind maps more effective and thus enable you to retain more information. (P.S. you might wanna zoom in)

By no means am I an expert in mind-mapping; these are just some habits I have when making a mind map that successfully does its job of helping me remember the topics I’m studying.

Hey guys, so I’ve seen some posts around about daily routines so I thought I’d share my own. I consider myself to be great at being productive even early in the morning, and here’s how I achieve that. Hope this is helpful, and feel free to ask me questions if you have any!

Not everything works out the first time. That’s okay. Growth means attempting new challenges, many of which we will fall short of. We can see it as failing, or we can see it as practice. We can retreat into ourselves, or we can take what we’ve learned and move forward. Failure or practice. It all comes down to how you look at things. Your mindset is your destiny. It’s all up to you.

Dealing with a bad grade:

Accept it. Everyone gets bad grades. It might feel like the end of the world, but it isn’t; trust me! 

Take a deep breath. Go somewhere that’s quiet so that you can get rid of the initial feelings of panic. Go here if you want to do nothing for two minutes.

Be realistic. What you consider a bad grade might not be considered a bad grade by someone else. Think about how much this grade contributes too your overall grade, and how it applies to college/university applications, etc. Recognise that you won’t always get good grades, and that one bad grade isn’t going to have too much of an effect.

Establish what went wrong. Knowing what happened for you to get this grade will help you in the future. Something went wrong in this piece of work, or there’s some way that you could have improved your work. Your teacher’s comments will probably identify this for you. Maybe you didn’t answer the question, or you didn’t study enough, for example.

Learn. Bad grades tell you that you can improve, that what you’re doing right now isn’t working for you. Maybe it’s time to start a new revision technique?Maybe you need to cut down on the babble in your essays?

Talk to your teacher. Ask them how you could have improved the work, or what other students did to get higher grades. It might seem intimidating at first, but remember, your teachers are there to help you. You might even be able to make up the grade.

Hello! I was recently told my by older sister about the 3-2-1 hour system, and I thought it was worth sharing. Btw sorry for the crappy image quality :( 

The system is split into 3 hour study or work sessions, one 3 hour session, one 2 hour session, and a 1 hour session. You start your day with the 3 hour session, and then later the  2 hour session, and near the end of the day, the 1 hour session. 

Seems kind of complicated, but it’s actually very simple! 

THREE HOURS: Lets say you wake up at 8 AM, you have breakfast and you work for 3 hours. 

It’s now 11 AM and you take a break for an hour (or two). 

TWO HOURS: You work for another 2 hours, it’s 1 PM. 

Another hour or two of breaking.

ONE HOUR: You work for 1 hour, it’s 3 PM. 

You can use this system however you want, it’s can be split into a more hourly system (like the one above) or for more general use of after breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This system is suitable for people who prefers to work their way through for longer periods of time and take a longer break. It’s a very efficient way to ‘beast’ through your work load with time to spare later!
