These ‘Beach Animals’ were created by Theo Jansen as a fusion of art and engineering. The kinetic structures walk on their own and get all their energy from the wind.

An agave growing massive in this long-abandoned greenhouse [1024x768]
I’m not sure that’s an agave, could it be a welwitchia? (I’m sure I spelled it wrong)
your comment actually made me go digging for the source, since the op is deactivated. now i’m sure op isn’t the original photographer even. but i wanted to see if i could find more info about this greenhouse and its inhabitants
here are two more photos by the photographer, liesje-73 on flickr, and they make me think these are agaves for sure. see that ragged edge? it also grows more “airy” than it seems welwitschia does
@plantpest you’re right, it’s probably an agave. I can’t really see the ragged edge you’re talking about but the leaves are also too smooth. Welwitschia’s are more veined and they curl. I couldn’t believe it was agave at first because its just SO HUGE!!
This is welwitschia
