OPHELIE ALLENDE “I don’t want realism. I want magic! Yes, yes, magic! I try to give that to people. I misrepresent things to them. I don’t tell the truth, I tell what ought to be the truth. And if that’s sinful, then let me be damned for it!"
“Oh? Are we letting ourselves in now?” She’s draped across an antique chaise like a cat bathing in sunlight when they enter. “Your apologies are of no use here.” They had missed a gathering of infernal proportions - and not the fun kind with boozy sins and secrets. A boring party was like the Underworld to Ophelie and the night before she knew precisely what Pirithous must have felt when Theseus and Herakles left him there. Though she supposed he was very forgetful - towards the end, at least. “But my anger is fleeting and causes too many wrinkles.” So she moves over to them, slipping into the crook of their arm as she leads them back to the chaise, “But I do love a good make-up. Indulge me, I beg you. What was more important than accompanying me in my time of need?”
╰ ♡ ANA DE ARMAS, CISFEMALE ┊ have you seen OPHELIE ALLENDE around hillston? the 32 year old is said to be an EX-BALLERINA. the neighbours would say that they’re CAPRICIOUS and STUBBORN, but they’re actually EXCITABLE and CHARISMATIC. SHE often reminds people of exposed décolletage, the warmth of the spotlight, piano playing softly in the distance. watch out, though. you wouldn’t believe that SHE'S BROKE.
she’s like a swallow, possessed
of her own barbaric song, strange, dark.
ophelie comes from modest beginnings. her mother was a french film actress who never truly gained the fame she reached for. her father a cuban artist that left this world when she was far too young.
her mother was a messy drunken patchwork of poor decisions. and often subjected her daughter to the types of men that were too broken to care for such a fragile creature.
ballet was her ticket out of this and she achieved the fame her mother always dreamed of. she became prima ballerina for the paris opera ballet. this is how she came to meet her husband.
soon after they married, her husband took off his mask. and after a bitter argument, she tried leaving. he clipped her wings - breaking her leg - forcing her into an early retirement.
perhaps her beginnings were also premonitions because, like her mother, ophelie’s husband proved to be too broken and cruel. but he offered her something she never had - guaranteed security - and with her career now a distant memory there wasn’t much else she could afford.
after another heated fight, ophelie killed her husband in self-defense. because of this, the slayer rule does not allow her to inherit his estate - because of this she is biding her time until the trial ends.
ophelie enjoys her time alone. loneliness consumes her, but she does not falter from it. she is renewed. she soaks in luxurious baths, sipping expensive wine while she listens to the blues.
she delights in extremes. the extravagant holds a special place in her heart – mulberry silk litters her home. diamonds and serendibite reflect light from their inlays. trinkets of times past. yet, she can never pull herself away for too long from the animal. the raw, naked truth of things. she feels most comfortable overdressed or in nothing at all.
ophelie isn’t one for rules or restrictions.
she has an affinity for the beautiful. she weeps at a line so eloquently delivered or notes played in a seemingly magical succession. a piece of art hung in just the right environment. the way light can catch a stranger at precisely the right moment and trick her into thinking fate has just whispered in her ear. you could call her a romantic, but it would be dangerous to do so.
she is not one to shy away from getting her hands dirty if it means the job gets done. some people see her as cruel for this, but her mind had been practiced in differentiating between cruelty and necessity - though sometimes she doesn’t care if she crosses the line. for her, it’s always been about survival. she is purposeful in her actions, articulate with her words. everything she does or says is crafted with intention
