I painted my cat
Was gifted a new sketchbook and it was suggested I paint the cover, so I did both front and back.
The owl needed a top hat and boots

A brief story.
Jack took a long, deep pull of the air around him. His anxiety had magnified the presence of each and every other patron in the shop, and the viscous aroma of coffee was the only sensation able to suppress the noise. He had managed a small table in a darker corner of the shop away from the morning bustle, some place he could slowly sip his iced coffee and replay the events from the previous night.
It should have been a good night, dinner, a movie, a stroll through the park, typical date night. If only he hadn’t said what he said. In his mind, it seemed innocuous, just a bit of playful banter he had hoped would spark laughs and maybe even a playful retort. Instead, Jill briefly froze, a wave of disgust slowly washed over her face and without even a word, she was gone.
Jack had sent her a text this morning asking to meet up and be given a chance to apologize, to which she reluctantly agreed. This particular coffee shop had been where they had their first date, an awkward yet charming afternoon that had sparked emotions in Jack he didn’t even know he could feel.
Light danced off the ice in his cup, how long had he been sitting here? A thought occurred that maybe he should just leave. Maybe what he had said was beyond forgiving. He became aware of his toes tapping inside his shoes. The fear and anxiety was getting to him, it felt like they could overwhelm at any moment.
“Jack?”
He thought he had heard a familiar voice, a familiar sound, but it was blurry.
“Jack?”
The voice came into focus, and his eyes darted up to see Jill with a concerned look on her face.
“please, sorry, I was lost in thought, please have a seat.”
He let out a sigh of relief, this wasn’t going to be an easy conversation, but her presence was enough to wash away most of his anxiety.
“I wanted to apologize for last night. We’re no strangers to love, and I know the rules. Yeah, I fucked up, I was hoping that last night we would continue to grow together, a full commitment is what I’m thinking. I don’t think there’s another guy out there you would get this from. We’ve known each other for so long now, and I know I caused your heart to ache, but I feel like inside we both know what’s been going on, we know this game and we’re gonna play it. I just want to tell you how I’m feeling, I gotta make you understand…
Jill, I’m never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, I’m never gonna run around and desert you, never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.”
